After spending five years as a full time housewife bringing up her five sons she returned to work in 1965 as an Assistant Attorney General in Arizona, ran successfully for the State Senate in 1970 and 1972, was elected and in 1974 won a place on the Maricopa County Superior Court Bench. In 1979 she was appointed to the Arizona Court of Appeals
