1813 ..... U.S.A ..... the dice game of ‘craps’ was FIRST introduced in New Orleans as an ‘official gambling pursuit’. Bernard Xavier Philippe de Marigny de Mandeville brought the game from France and it became known as ‘craps’ after the slang term for a Creole, Johnny Crapaud 

1969 ..... U.S.A ..... the FIRST moon rock went on display 

1988 ..... U.K ..... Mary Archer became the FIRST woman ever elected to the Council of Lloyds when she came top in the election for two external members. She polled 3539 votes in her second attempt to get onto the council
