1893 ..... the FIRST women to go to the polls in a general election were the women of New Zealand 

1916 ..... U.K ..... four people were injured in the FIRST aeroplane raid on London 

1919 ..... U.K .....  Nancy Astor was elected as Britain’s FIRST woman M.P. Although not the FIRST woman to ever be elected she was the FIRST to sit in the House of Commons and held a safe Plymouth seat for the Tories in a by-election when her husband was elevated to the peerage. She took her seat on December 1st 

1935 ..... U.K ..... Britain’s FIRST set of quads was born prematurely in Cambridgeshire. They were the children of Doris and Walter Miles and she gave birth to Ann, Ernest, Paul and Michael. They became known as the St Neots Quads and they began their lives in a blaze of publicity 

1948 ..... U.S.A ..... the FIRST Polaroid cameras went on sale in Boston

2000 ….. the Netherlands became the FIRST country in the world to allow euthanasia
