1932 ..... U.K ..... the FIRST Gang Show was performed at the Scala Theatre and 160 bare-kneed Boy Scouts sang “There’ll Come a Time” in The Gang’s All Here. The show was originally intended to run only for three performances but the public reaction was such that it was repeated for the next 42 years.  By the time the last Gang Show was produced, Ralph Reader had raised  had raised £7million for the Scout movement 

1945 ….. U.K ..... Ex-Corporal Wilf  began when episode one, Wilf Gets His Ticket, was heard. The main character was played by Wilfred Pickles and was about a typical army corporal trying to adjust to civvy life 

1951 ….. U.K ..... zebra crossings were FIRST seen in Britain 

1958 ..... Dr Ake Senning of Stockholm, implanted the FIRST internal heart pacemaker 

1987 ...... Chetan Sharma of India became the FIRST cricketer to perform a hat-trick in the World Cup against New Zealand at Nagpur 

1996 ..... U.K ..... the supermarket chain Somerfield launched Britain’s FIRST Cash for Trash machines which registers Premier Points on coded cards as shoppers dispose of their aluminium or steel cans and plastic or glass bottles. The points were redeemable on more than 7,500 goods at Argos 

1997 ….. U.K ..... Marie Leefe, aged 16 years, became the winner of Britain's FIRST official women's boxing bout. The three round fight between Marie and her best friend Marie Davies attracted huge interest
