Basic plot:

This film was written especially with Elvis in mind, he plays a delivery driver called Deke who is asked to sing at a fair by a Glenda who's a record promoter who's trying to liven up the bored audience, and is looking for a gimmick to liven up the acts that she got.  Of course Deke does this successfully and Glenda asks him if he would like to make a career in music.  He turns her down, so she  tells him to be  back at the fair by a certain time the next morning.  When Deke's driven off, Glenda phones his work place up and disses him  so that he'll get the sack.

Deke turns up the next day and here the fairy tail begins.......

Tex, who is a country singer and Glenda's partner, gets a bit jealous of Deke who's now getting all the attention.  Susan who is also a country singer starts to fall for Deke.  Deke tells her a story to get her back to a hotel so he can have his wicked way with her, but when she realises his plans she tells him she's not that kind of girl and walks out on him-ooer!  But they end up making up and Deke apologises for thinking she was that kind of girl!!

Deke meanwhile is starting to get a bit famous around various towns, and goes to a diner for a bite to eat before his next gig.  A girl who's with her bloke starts ranting on how gorgeous Deke is and how she'd love to hear him sing. Her bloke's getting a bit fed up with this so goes over to Deke and asks him if he would sing for his gal.  Deke refuses, so the boyfriend gets a bit mad and throws a punch at Deke which misses and Deke sayes he'll do him a favour and will sing.  At the end of the song Deke goes over to the boyfriend and sayes he'd like him to do him a favour in return and put new car seat covers on his car.  The boyfriend points out that his colour would be yellow haha.  And so we have a fight scene.

At the end of the film Deke and co get offered a contract which they all sign and they all live happily ever after.

Opinion:

Wicked film, superb colour filming,  Elvis looking his best, even though he looks nervous at times.  Also some great rock n'roll classics.

Things to look out for:

Elvis's mum and dad in the audience during the last song"Got A Lot Of Livin' To Do".  Elvis is singing down the aisle and turns right to face his mum.

Apparently he couldn't watch the film again after his mum died as he found it too upsetting.
