Hi Elvis fan's.
I've been an Elvis fan for 20 years - doesn't time fly?!. I'm a 30 something and live in London, England, I've been living here for 15 years, before that I lived in lovely old Somerset in the west country !
I'm afraid to admit that I became an Elvis fan when he died. And that's because there was so much stuff about him on the telly and in the newspapers, where as before I didn't really take much notice of music, my hormones had only just started to kick in then!
I got a bit obsessed with him through my teenage years, as you do. All my school mates thought I was a bit mad, cos they were into Duran, and Spandau and couldn't understand why I was into someone that was no longer alive.
I also used to do so called impersonations,( don't even ask!) while my mate thought she was Michael Jackson! Thankfully we've both grown up since then, although my love for Elvis is still strong, whereas my mate who had no taste what so ever (we'll call her "martian" for now) cringes with embarrassment when mentioning his name. Any thoughts on what Lisa saw in Michael ? Please drop me a line 'cos I'll be damned if I know!
I did have a good collection of Elvis LP's, which I had collected over the years, but sold them a few years ago, when I was naive and unemployed. God I wish I still had them, I also sold them for pittance which doesn't help, things you do when your desperate...Thankfully I'm in a good job which is quite well paid so I can collect Elvis CD's instead.
I always swore that I'd never buy them, but I was sucked in, and they are better than muffly LP's. Although I do miss the album covers, it's not qiute the same having to squint your eyes to read the inner sleeve, that's probably why I now have to wear reading glasses. Also of course I miss the big picture of the king on the front.
Anyway that's enough of chat for now.
