The V8 Pursuit Special
By Adrian Bennett
Black on Black Pursuit Special
I imported the base car, a 1973 XA Fairmont coupe in May 2001, the car was purchased from Terry James of " madmaxcars.com " (Texas).

The base car
Fitted with a 351 cleveland motor and auto box, also LPG conversion. The dash and front end had been updated with XB falcon parts. The structure of the car was very good apart from a small amount of welding to be done on the boot floor and both A posts where the doors hang.

Rear spoiler fitted
The fibreglass parts, monza nose, flairs and roof spoiler were supplied by advanced spoilers and creative cars (Australia), the roof spoiler and rear flairs needed major alterations but the front flairs were quite a good fit with minor alterations.

All fibre glass parts fitted
The blower, wheels and side pipes were also supplied by advanced spoilers, the side pipes were fitted with bosal reversed tail pipes (flaired) for added effect.

After some painting
Tyres are, Front BF Goodrich T/A radial 235/60/15, rear BF Goodrich T/A radial 265/50/15. Headlamps were used from a VW LT van, front indicators were VW Mk2 Golf (clear). Extras include: blower on/off switch on gear lever, homemade RVS roof radio and police dash light.

R.V.S. Radio
The whole project has taken 18 months to complete and a heap of £££'s but worth every penny.

The finished machine
I have now fitted one of Sam Costanzo's RVS radio's to the roof, and have a new set of wheels too.

New R.V.S. Radio
I have made a new exhaust system that connects the zoomies, so they are fully functional.

New exhaust system
Now have a new steering wheel thanks to Brad Coulter, Adelaide, Australia. It is a really good replica of the original one and is finished off very well.
MAD MAX 2 Modifications.
I have added two tanks in the boot for a change of image!
