Hot off the success of the
original V-Rally comes V-Rally 2, a realistic rally racing game with
options galore. While PC racing games are a dime a dozen, decent rally
sims are not – and this one is a welcome addition to your library. With
nearly perfect physics, a huge number of cars and tracks, and excellent graphics and
control, V-Rally 2 is one of the top names in PC rally titles.

When you see the game
specs, V-Rally 2 looks very impressive. It features stages from 12
countries from around the world, stretching the globe from Finland to
Argentina to New Zealand. It lets you drive 26 cars, including 1.6litre
and 2litre F2 kit-cars and all of the 1999 WRC models (so if you want to
try your hand with the championship-winning Mitsubishi Lancer Evo, or the
lumbering Skoda Octavia, then now you can). It boasts 80 different stages.
It has a track editor that lets you create your own (which you can then
upload onto the V-Rally Online service). It even adopts a Rally Masters
approach in that it offers looped circuits and special stages, and lets
you compete against other cars at the same time if you want to. On paper,
this seems like one hell of a rally game.

The Graphics on this game
are brilliant, with the right graphics card it will be clearer and smother
then Colin McRae Rally with out having to have a massive spec unlike Colin
McRae Rally and Rally Championship which need a seriously higher spec
computer.

The game looks pretty
sweet, with a multitude of track-side objects, polygonal spectators that
run out of the way of your car as you approach, and cars featuring details
that include realistic drivers and passengers and visible spare tires.
There’s also a nicely rendered interior view complete with transparent
visible glass, although unfortunately the gauges inside are static.
