A Vigil is an ancient Christian rite, which is an important part of the funeral customs in some places.
Two patterns of funeral service are provided. The first begins in a church, a crematorium, or a cemetery
chapel, and ends with the Committal. The second service begins with a Service of Committal at a crematorium or cemetery, followed by a Service of Thanksgiving in church. While the second part of this service may
follow on the same day, it is possible for it to follow at a later date.
A funeral service for a child and another for a stillborn child are provided. The latter may also be used, with adaptation, after a
miscarriage or a neo-natal death.
The service for the burial of ashes provides for the final disposal of cremated remains.
