MINISTER PLANS TO HANG HIMSELF

Many who don't really know what a Christian Minister is would jokingly say that he or she only works one day a week.  That the minister has a study very likely means that he does some kind of work within that book-filled room, and, outside of it he occasionally conducts weddings and funerals, even for people who don't go to church.  The minister of this church does this and more, but on Saturday, 6th July , David, our minister, is going to do something a little different!

'What's that?' you may ask.  'And what makes it so interesting that you mention it here on the web page?' Well, it's rather special; because it's not something he does every weekend. But more than that, there's a special purpose behind his efforts on this particular Saturday.  He wants to add to the efforts of many other people in our church to raise money for the 'Building and Development Fund', through which we are endeavouring to make our buildings more appropriately accessible for people with special needs, and generally improve the existing facilities. We've already fitted a new kitchen and toilets, including one especially for people in wheelchairs.  We've decorated one of our large function rooms with warm, welcoming colours; made a new church office; and oh,…..  we've so many more ideas to make our church user friendly and welcoming, at the same time giving the glory to God our Father.  You're most welcome to come and meet us and see what we've done and what's in the planning.

But then, the point of all this is to tell you what David is doing on Saturday, 6th July, isn't it?  He's a big man, but we expect the rope will hold him!….

At 2.30pm, David is going to abseil down the Maternity Block of the Ipswich Hospital NHS Trust. That's on Heath Road, Ipswich. Sponsorship forms will be available from David himself or members of the church, or you can make enquiries through this web page.  If you would like to be a small part of this adventure and enjoy the excitement, then be at Ipswich hospital on Saturday, 6th July.  See you there!
