done by me, Mathias Lindgren, for all you V for Vendetta-fans out there.

Stockholms Blodbad har intagit Gustav de Lavals enorma turbinfabrik från förra
sekelskiftet, och skapat en massiv helhetsinstallation av teater, film och musik.
Föreställningen heter "Landet där man gör som man vill", och är berättelsen om en
anarkistisk superhjälte som kallar sig V, en hämnare i kappa, hatt och en
hånflinande mask som bekämpar fascismen i ett England där varje vrå är bevakad,
och där "styrka genom renhet, renhet genom tro" är den paroll folket förväntas
leva efter. Berättelsen är hämtad från den grafiska romanen "V for Vendetta" av
Alan Moore och David Lloyd.
Med hjälp av film, teater, tjugo skådespelare, en filmduk i storformat, en över
trehundra kvadratmeter stor scen och specialskriven musik har Stockholms Blodbad
skapat en unik föreställning.
Erik Wernquist regisserar föreställningen och Micke Lindgren producerar.
-Vi ska skapa en unik show där den spelade teatern, filmsekvenserna och musiken
flyter i varandra. Vi ska försöka utnyttja både teaterns närvaro och
illusionkraften hos filmmediet, berättar Erik Wernquist.
För filminslagen står musikvideoregissören Filip Tellander, som bland annat
gjort videor åt Kaah och Trippel Ett.
Ingen har tidigare gått så långt i att integrera film och teater i en föreställning.
Inspelningarna har pågått sedan i våras i London och Stockholm och arbetet med
filminslagen motsvarar en mindre långfilm. Med hjälp av digital videoteknik är
"Landet där man gör som man vill" inte bara en revolutionerande teaterföreställning
utan också en milstolpe inom svensk independentfilm.

Stockholms Blodbad have taken Gustav de Lavals' enormous turbine factory from the
last turn of the century and created a massive all-in-one installation of theatre,
film and music. The show's called "The land of-do-as-you-please", and it's the tale
of an anarchistic superhero that calls himself V, a caped avenger, a hat and a
sneering mask that combats fascism in an England where every corner is under
surveillance, and where "strength through purity, purity through faith" is the
watchword that the people are expected to live by. The tale is taken from the
graphic novel "V for Vendetta" by Alan Moore and David Lloyd.
With the aid of film, theatre, twenty actors, a big-size moviescreen, specifically
written music and a three hundred square metre stage, Stockholms Blodbad
have created a truly unique show.
Erik Wernquist is the shows director and Micke Lindgren the producer. "We wanted
to create an unique show where the theatre, movie sequences and the music are woven into
each other. We'll try to use both the presence of the theatre and the illusionary forces
the movies provide", says Wernquist.
The music video Director, Filip Tellander, famous for both the Kaah and
Trippel Ett videos, is responsible for the movie sequences.
No one has gone this far to integrate film and theatre in a show. The recording
commenced in London and Stockholm this Spring (2000) and the work that's been put into
the movie sequences is equivalent to that of a small feature film. With the aid of
digital video, "The land of do-as-you-please" is not just a revolutionary
theatre show, but also a milestone for Swedish independent movies.

Vi är Stockholms Blodbad, och har funnits sedan 1997 då vi satte upp undergroundsuccén
"Djävulen" i katakomberna under Vita bergen. Vi har ingen utbildning. Vi är inte
professionella konstnärer. Vi är definitivt ingen fri teatergrupp. Vår filosofi är att
det är producenternas fel att publiken sviker - vi vill göra utåtvänd konst som förenar
tungt och mångbottnat innehåll med blixtrande underhållning. Vi är svensk
independentkultur med klass.
För runt två år sedan föddes idén att göra ett svulstigt multimedia-epos av Alan
Moores grafiska roman "V for Vendetta". Erik Wernquist och Micke Lindgren skrev
manuset, och visionen växte fram: En anarkistisk framtidssaga berättad med teater,
film och musik i fusion, tjugo skådespelare på en jättescen med rymd som tillät en
bioduk i storformat och komplexa scenerier. En massiv helhetsinstallation.
Men bidragsetabablissemanget, med Kulturrådet i spetsen, rynkade på näsan. Pengarna
uteblev. Nu fanns två alternativ: Att lägga ned, eller inte.
Vi lade inte ner. Professionella skådespelare och tekniker slöt upp runt den unga
kärntruppen och Stockholms Blodbad växte. Scenograf, kompositör, ljuddesigners,
filmfotograf, 3D-animatör m fl slog följe... Alla jobbar gratis, drivna av lusten att
genomföra ett till synes omöjligt projekt. Med sponsring, egna pengar, mindre stölder,
lån och andra trick pressar vi den enorma produktionsapparaten framåt.
Den 7 december 2000 slog vi upp dörrarna till "Landet där man gör som man vill"

We're Stockholms Blodbad and have been around since 1997 when we began working with
the underground success "The Devil" in the catacombs beneath Vita Bergen in
Stockholm. We have no education. We are not professional artists. We're definitely not a
free theatre group. Our philosophy is that it's the producer's fault if the audience isn't
coming; we want to do extrovert art that combines heavy and multi-leveled content with
blazing entertainment. We're Swedish independent culture with class.
Around two years ago, the idea was born to make a big multimedia version of Alan
Moore's graphic novel "V for Vendetta". Erik Wernquist and Micke Lindgren wrote
the script, and the vision grew brighter: An anarchistic futuristic tale told by
theatre, film and music in a fusion, twenty actors at a giant stage with space
that allowed a big-size movie screen and complex scenarios. A massive all-in-one
installation.
But the "fundpeople", with the Cultural council at the head, were sceptical. No
money was given out. Now there were two options: to quit or not to quit.
We didn't quit. Professional actors and technicians came together around the
young coregroup, and Stockholms Blodbad grew. Scenographer, composer,
sound-designers, movie photographers, 3D-animators and others came along...
Everyone's working for free, driven by the urge to carry out a seemingly
impossible project. Aided by sponsors, own money, minor thefts, loans and other
tricks, we're pushing this enormous production-engine forward.
On the 7th of December we opened the doors to "The land of do-as-you-please".
