FRAMING
Any pictures purchased from the Melmoth Art Centre can be framed using our own simple but distinctive low-priced frames, to be ordered at the time of purchase. The frames are compounded of pine stripwood and moulding, and are available in plain wood (fine as it is or suitable for waxing) or Jacobean Dark Oak. Handcut bevelled mounts in Dove Grey are used when glass is required. For oils and acrylics we recommend a heavier frame, again in plain wood or Dark Oak. Some examples of both types are shown here, with closeups of frame cross-sections.
All frames are individually made for each picture, but to simplify accounting the prices are in five price-bands, A to E. Dimensions in each case are those of the picture only, without any mounting.
Band A: Sizes up to 600 sq.cm. £25
B: 600 1200 sq.cm. 30
C: 1200-2400 sq.cm. 35
D: 2400-4800 sq.cm. 40
E: Over 4800 sq.cm 45
For an oil or acrylic painting, which uses heavier framing but does not require glazing or mounting, deduct £5 for each band price.
Before sending in your order, please specify by email to:
the picture you are interested in so that we can invoice you with the correct fee for postage and packing to include with your order, which will of course be different in each case. At this point a red spot will appear next to the picture, reserving it for a maximum of seven full days in your name, to give you time to send in your order.
Local buyers (within a twenty-mile radius of Cambridge) will have their pictures delivered free on completion.
