Slovenija 1991/93

Slovenija is a very beautiful, largely forested region, in the middle of a vast limestone area. There are mountains and meadows, forests and lakes, enormous caves and olde-worlde villages. The depth of the limestone (circa 1990) is about 6Km, so the area has obvious potential!

We were to visit the Typical Karst area near Postojna, to the west of Ljubljana. The land is mostly forested shakeholes and dolines, so cave location is made extremely difficult. Based in the middle of the Planinsko Polje at Laze, we were ideally sited to explore some of the best caves.
