The Cat2000 is a 1/10th scale electric model car, made by Schumacher Racing Products in Northhants, England. It's classed as an off-road buggy, as it's not a truck, and it's not a saloon. It's also got 4 wheel drive, which means it's quicker through turns than a 2WD, and notionally slower along the straights, although this is not always the case. This is no toy that crawls along. It's a proper racing car, all be it minature. It has adjustable ride height, suspension droop, suspension stiffness and damping adjustments, adjustable slipper clutch, and a multitude of gear ratios to help you tune it to track lengths and motor winds. |

This cat is the 9th life of the marque to carry the name. The first was called the Cat, which led the way in the early 80's. This was followed by the Cat XLS. These were 4wd, using belts, and had Schumachers unbreakable 'crashback' front end. Then came the Procat, which was based on the Cat XLS but with a few tweaks. Following that was the Bosscat which again was a development of the car before it, the Procat. The family trait was visible, with the car retaining 'crashback' front end, and two huge aluminium plates at the back to hold the rear gearbox together. The last car of this series was the Bosscat 'Works' which featured the neato add on's that the team driver's used. In 1994, the Cat 2000 was released. It was vastly different to the cars that went before, having an altogether simpler construction, and looking generally more purposeful. This car won the European Championship. Following this was the Cat 2000 EC, for Eurochamp, which had a revolution - laydown shock absorbers. This meant that instead of the shock's being upright, they were at about 45 degrees to the wishbones, which makes it look even more steamlined than before. This car won the European Championship in '95. Adding bits on to this produced the Cat 2000 SE, for Special edition. This had Schumachers then new 'blade' driveshaft system, and light alloy diff outputs, which were lighter than the previous versions. They were also much thinner than the large plastic version, and made the car more responsive to acceleration and braking. This won the European Championships in 1996. Models Cat, Cat XLS, Procat, Bosscat, Bosscat Works Cat 2000 (94), Cat 2000 EC, Cat 2000 SE, Cat 2000 '98 The Cat 2000 '98 is the present version, which is an SE, with a new 'side saddle' chassis, ackerman modified steering, alloy shock bodies, and yellow wheels!
