Ranmore Common

.... a common was traditionally the place set aside where 'commoners' were given common rights to graze their animals and gather firewood. These days it is more a place to enjoy a walk and admire the view, though here a few animals are still allowed to graze.

Further along on Ranmore Common on Dunley Hill Farm is this momento to a Canadian army camp from the Second World War. The camp site is now tearooms, but this sentry box still remains.
