The village of Leigh is approximately 3 miles south west of Reigate,
in the heart of the Weald, and is another of the Surrey villages
that were linked to iron-working. It has in its centre the village
green and what must be one of the few remaining village water
pumps. Next to it is St. Bartholomew`s Church, built in the 15th
century. Most of the dwellings in the village are also quite old
- the main one being the rambling mediaeval Priests House. The
Plough is a slightly more `modern` 18th century pub in the centre
of the village, opposite the pump and church. While just along
the road there is the Seven Stars, a pub which evolved from a
15th century barn.
