BROOKLANDS RACE CIRCUIT

Brooklands was the world's first banked motor racing circuit and was built in 1907 by Hugh Locke-King. There was also a pioneer aviation centre here and aircraft were manufactured until 1987. The racing circuit was last used just before the outbreak of the second world war. Brooklands

There are only a few parts parts of this once famous circuit remaining now, part of the track being preserved in the grounds of Brooklands Museum. Other parts, such as these, have melted into the background as part of the boundary of a retail park.

Brooklands Museum, nearby, has original Brooklands racing cars as well as a `Fastest on Earth` exhibition and aircraft exhibits which include a World War Two Wellington bomber recovered from Loch Ness.
