The following is my variation on the 'Ball and Grid' illusion that can be seen at other sites on the Web - see the highlighted links on my Optical Index page.

On the right is an eraser in motion - sliding diagonally across a table top. Or maybe it is rising in the air as it moves - or perhaps it is bouncing. The addition of some shadows can make it appear as if any one of those things is happening, although the original drawing remains unchanged.		WITHOUT SHADOWS
