Dark Millennia
Dark Millennia for those of you who don't know, (where have you been?) is a real time strategy game,
mixing elements of the settlers with your C&C type game.
The story goes something like this many eons ago, the forces of chaos were defeated, and banished,
then along came evil people and let the forces of chaos loose once more.
Within one night the green and pleasent land is transformed to pure evil as the power of chaos
takes over those who have been naughty. You know the type vandals, petty thiefs, corrupt warriors
and traffic wardens. Okay, there are no traffic wardens I made that up, but if there were,
they would be prime candidates as they are nasty people.

The power of chaos spreads throughout

It wraps it's evil web amongst the ungoodly.

The forces of Chaos assemble

The devil and those he has taken
I started by asking Andy why this game has still not been released, he said that they had hoped to have the game ready for release last Christmas but it didn't work out. Apparently the game itself was finished but there were some bugs to iron out and they weren't truly happy with some of the aspects of the game. Basically Andy told me that he doesn't want Crystal Interactive Software to be known as a poor quality Amiga games publisher. Quite the opposite, if it isn't good, it won't be released. Andy told me that despite having to use PC's he is still an Amigan at heart and he wouldn't want to flood the market with poor titles like others have done in the past. He says he asks himself the question, "would I be happy with this game if I bought it?"

Work continues on Dark Millennia and he is hoping for an early beta demo to be ready within a week or two. (I'll keep you posted as I have first dibs.)
The game itself is slated to be released on or around September the 10th this year where C.I.S. are hoping to be in attendance to actually shift the first copies before going on worldwide distribution. Attendance? what Attendance? Ahh! That is a secret, but let's just say that there are plans afoot for another miggy show somewhere in the UK (and no, it's not WoA.) You'll just have to keep an eye on the News services. |
By now you may be asking yourself, what has this got to do with the appearence of Gilbert Goodmate on the miggy?
Well, in order For Gilbert to make an appearence on the Amiga, C.I.S. Has to prove to it's backers that there is still money to be made in this market. As a result Andy is hoping for a modest target of 1000 copies. If this target is achieved, then work will continue on other Amiga games, such as Gilbert Goodmate.
Simply send C.I.S. an *email*. This is just an acknowledgement on your
part that you are Genuinely interested in Dark Millennia. (Let's Flood 'em) If the Amiga Community show enough interest, work will,, I'm sure, speed up.
Note: The email is not a commitment to buy, just to see if there still is interest in the Amiga Platform.
Once DM is nearly ready Andy will contact you by return and ask you if you want to go ahead and purchase it.
Further to that Andy told me that those who get in now will get DM for £25 instead of the full purchase price of £30 when released. Please don't send an email in if you are not at all interested I'd hate to see a repeat of the same fiasco that happened with FusionPPC - Thanks |
In the meantime here are some new screenshots of DM. By the way the in-game intro stills are drawn by Ben Wright, good eh?

Left A Building being built, the green bar shows the building strength whilst the blue bar shows how long it's got 'till it's ready.
Right Wizard to the right of the picture. Towards the top left hand side two guards with health bar above them. I don't know who the bloke in green is didn't ask and I don't care.
- could be Robin Hood I suppose. Mind you, probably not, otherwise the game would be called Robin Hood.
Notice the farm and surrounding buildings. If you didn't, see an optician - Now!
Left Notice the building options for your army on the left hand side, this are, from top to bottom, castle, fort, guard house and encampment.
Right Two of your Knights, yes they are knights - They are on Horses, uncover an enemy keep. So what do you do now?
Me, I'd send for the listerine and a good toothbrush. You can tell it's got smelly breath by the way the horses are leaning back.
If this isn't enough to tempt you, then how about, when you run out of ammunition to catapult your enemies, you can catapult Sheep at them? Yep, it's true watch the sheep fly and land on your enemy with a satisfying splat!
Dark Millennia will run on a 68k based Amiga, will need 16mb ram free, a CD and possibly a graphics card. Back to homepage
