Open University

I have become a bit of an education 'junkie'. The Open University has proved to be an ideal 'pusher'. Not only can I work and study, but the examinations are at a better time of year to the normal educational establishment ( October, rather than June ). Being a hay-fever sufferer June exams are not a good idea for me!
Courses: M301 Software Systems
M261 The maths for computer course. I never did get to grips with Proof by Induction.
T223 The microprocessor-oriented course, hosted by the Technology faculty (T).This course may have changed over the years, but my impression was that it was a diversity of subjects looking for a focus.
S102 has now been superceded by S103. It was the foundation level entry course for the sciences. It had a residential school, I went to Reading when I wanted to go to Stirling!
M205 was the Fundamentals of Computing course, my first course as an Associate Student with the University. I found it hard work! It used UCSD Pascal to teach the fundamentals of sequential programming. None of this OOPS lark!
M357 was the Data Modelling course for, mainly relational databases....so help me Codd.
M353 was the higher level Programmming Language course - using Pascal, Prolog and Eiffel. The main theme being Abstract Data Types.
M457 was the project for Databases. For me, you can get too much database know-how!
I tried the post graduate OOPS course, M868, used as a module of the Post Graduate Certificate. This used  mainly Smalltalk for its examples.
With all that I could become a member of the Alumni community.
I think that through the years the Open University has changed. It feels a bit more commercial, with partnerships with banks and more specialised Degree names. It does still remain a fruitful avenue for my pursuits and does still leave me spellbound.
