In the spring of 1946, a massive
earthen mound known as Mine Howe in the East Mainland district
of Tankerness in Orkney, was opened for the first time.
After months of digging an ancient enigma was unearthed - an
enigma that over fifty years later would still be capturing the
imagination of the world.
