IRC session.
| Before connecting to an IRC server you have to enter
a few basic details about yourself in Quick Connect
dialog, which pops up automatically when you first run
IIrcCC32. Once all the relevant details are entered you can select an IRC Server from the servers list and then click on the Connect button. After the connection is made you will almost always be presented with Message Of The Day, which contains information about that server. At that point you'll then be able to Join a channel to start chatting. Personal information The following information is required before you can connect to a server. Full Name: You can enter your real name here, however note that whatever you enter can be seen by other people on IRC. You do not have to enter your real name if you want more privacy, however you do have to enter something so that the client could be registered with the IRC Server. |

E-mail Address:
You must enter a full email address eg. zgkec@wmin.ac.uk
Nickname:
Your nickname is the name by which all other people will know you
on IRC.Please remember that there are many people using IRC every
day and there is a good chance that the nickname will be used by
somebody else.Try to use a unique nickname that will have less
chances of being used by someone else.
Alternative:
You can enter an alternative nickname as well in case someone is
using your first nickname.
User Modes:
You can enable the following user modes which will be set when
the client connects to the IRC Server
+i - Invisible to those who do not know you.
Default is OFF
+s - Receive server
specific messages, unless you are the server operator you would
not want to receive any server message. Default is OFF
+w - Receive IRC operator
messages. Turns ON the reception of WALLOPS messages. Ignore this
option if you are not a server operator. Default is OFF.
Using the Channel List Dialog to join
channels.
After you have connected to the IRC server the
Channel List Dialog will pop-up automatically.

Be careful however, IRC servers usually carry a large number of channels, anything up to a few thousand channels.It might take a while to download all of them.
The /join Command:
The IRC join command can also be used to join a channel. For
instance, you want to join a channel #beginner, you would type
/join #beginner (at the command prompt of any window ) and press
enter, and a few moments later (depending on you connection to
the server ) #beginner window will open indicating that you have
joined it.
Creating a new channel:
To create a new channel just join a channel as if it was already
created by someone else, that is simply select a new channel name
and press Join button in the Channel List dialog or type /join
#channel , where #channel is the new channel name that you want
to join.
Tip: you can double click
left mouse button in the Channel List Dialog to join a channel.
Deleting a Channel:
To delete a channel, click on a channel entry to highlight it and
then click Delete button. The channel entry is now deleted from
the list.
Chatting
Privately
If you're on a channel, and you want to
talk to someone privately, you can double-click on their nickname
in the user list of the channel window and a private chat window
will open up. You can then start chatting privately.
