Once all the relevant details are entered you can select an IRC Server from the servers list and then click on the Connect button. After the connection is made you will almost always be presented with Message Of The Day, which contains information about that server. Using the Channel List Dialog to join channels.

After you have connected to the IRC server the Channel List Dialog will pop-up automatically.

To Join A Channel

Once you've connected to an IRC Server, you can join a channel to talk to other people. There are several ways to join a channel.

The Channels List Dialog:
The easiest way to join a channel is to use the Channel List Dialog, which holds a list of your favourite channels. IIrcCC32 will automatically open this dialog the moment you connect to an IRC Server. You can join one of the listed channels by selecting it and clicking the Join button.

The Server Channels List:
Another way to join a channel is to retrieve the list of currently active channels by using the Server List Channels dialog. You can view the Server List Channels dialog by clicking on the Get New in the Channels List Dialog or by clicking on the Channel List button button in the toolbar. This dialog will retrieve the entire list of channels that are present on the server.

Be careful however, IRC servers usually carry a large number of channels, anything up to a few thousand channels. It might take a while to download all of them.

The /join Command:
The IRC join command can also be used to join a channel. For instance, you want to join a channel #beginner, you would type /join #beginner (at the command prompt of any window ) and press enter, and a few moments later (depending on you connection to the server ) #beginner window will open indicating that you have joined it.

Creating a new channel:
To create a new channel just join a channel as if it was already created by someone else, that is simply select a new channel name and press Join button in the Channel List dialog or type /join #channel , where #channel is the new channel name that you want to join.

Tip: you can double click left mouse button in the Channel List Dialog to join a channel.

Deleting a Channel:

To delete a channel, click on a channel entry to highlight it and then click Delete button. The channel entry is now deleted from the list.

Chatting Privately

If you're on a channel, and you want to talk to someone privately, you can double-click on their nickname in the user list of the channel window and a private chat window will open up. You can then start chatting privately.
