Every Sunday night from about 8pm to 9.15pm we open the doors at someone's house for a 'YPF' meeting. It is aimed at those in Year 9 at senior school up to the ages of 19 and 20 (including some university students, who like to attend).
Although the teenagers may also come to the Bible Class on Sunday mornings, in YPF we seek to cover more of the topical issues surrounding Christianity, or other subjects to do with the church. Sometimes we may have a quiz or some light and friendly games, a testimony or even a visiting speaker (for example, our Pastor came and explained what the Lord's Table is about). Some of the different subjects covered so far range from "Did dinosaurs ever exist in Bible times?" and "Should Christians allow themselves to be hypnotised?" to "How to concentrate in sermons/services!".
Most of the questions and subjects are jotted down by the young people and then covered in a programme which lasts a few months at a time.
Another aim of the meeting is to encourage the young people to attend the evening service at church, which is a condition of entry!
You can see a list of sample programme titles (and what they mean in italics).
If you would like any further topics or have any suggestions for us, we would be pleased to hear from you by email.
