The John Templeton Foundation promotes dialog between science and religion. In 1999 it created an essay competition, 'Expanding Humanity's Vision of God.' The two essays below were submitted to the Scientific and Medical Network and to the Buddhist magazine Tricycle for publication under the competition rules.

Both essays deal with the concept of 'jnani', which will be the focus of my spiritual writings in the coming years.
