Ken Saunders - Short Biography.

FirstMagic.co.uk is the web front-end for "Ken Saunders' Magic", a company that was established at the start of the millenium. The aim of the company is to bring magical entertainment to all types of occasion at any given venue, and to bring the amazement and wonder of the art form within everybody's reach.

Ken Saunders started in magic from a very early age, with his first payed performance at only 14 years old (see picture below left!). Always keen to try out new tricks and skills, his magic was constantly on display to friends, family... and anyone else who he could get to watch!

However, it wasn't until he got to Southampton University (1997) that his skills were fully realised. Throughout the course of his degree, Ken discovered that magic was the ideal source of meeting new friends, gaining free drinks and getting cheap entry into clubs. This led Ken deeper into the magical world, and he found himself devoting much of his spare time (when not studying Pharmacology) to learning and creating new effects to try out on his fellow students.

This constant work to improve his performing led to him winning the title "Close-Up Champion of the South of England" at the age of only 21, along with high rankings in several other magical competitions. After completion of his degree, and on obtaining an upper 2:1 with honours, Ken decided that the only way forward was to now follow his dream of performing magic full time.

With the degree behind him, there was always a fall-back in case the business did not kick off, but this has not been needed, as the magical enterprise has been a resounding success since its establishment. With work taking him to venues up and down the country, to private, corporate and other types of event, and to functions both very large and very small, Ken has gained wide knowledge and an excellent reputation in his field.

As the business continues to grow, at an ever increasing rate, the FirstMagic.co.uk domain was purchased and the website launched in October 2001. Comments and questions about which are always gratefully received.

Currently Ken is continuing to perform at venues throughout the country, with a busy schedule that takes up much of his time. In his spare time, he is developing new tricks for use in his magical shows, and to create new competition material with which he hopes to further his awards and stature in the magical community.
