The Shackleton - General Shackleton Photos

206 Sqn Crew 6 meets the press, headline - North Sea Patrol. Ah those were the days. I'm in the comfortable tac nav's seat, John D the First Nav is in the route nav's seat with rolls of charts and tracing paper everywhere. Dickie H the Eng looks as though he's pushing out a few Zzzzs. On the right the best bit of maritime nav kit, never been known to fail, the visual drift sight. Taking a multi drift wind took up time on the way home, but the WFA wind technique using the Wind Finding Attachment took much longer.

The Mark 3 Phase 3 Shack at Duxford. Note the Viper jet engine inlet panels extended below the outer engines.

206 Sqn Crew 6 awaiting the off after a few days delay at Gander due to the other aircraft having an engine change in a blizzard during a winter Westabout. We had to fly via Bermuda and Offutt because of icing over Canada. Actually, although my photo says that this is Gander there seems a distinct lack of snow and quite a bit of sunshine, so it might well be Bermuda.
