Sarah GIFFARD helped her aunt Jane PENNELL to bring up the
GIFFARD orphans. At that time living at Cumberland Terrace, then
with brother George at Brightleigh, Surrey. Described as "a
little, shrivelled up, white, old lady. Very religious".
1871 Sarah G of 9 Cumberland Terrace with William Pennell. 1881 SG aged 66 b Ceylon, at 52 Carisbrooke Rd, St Mary Magdelene, Hastings, Sussex with widowed sister Mary TATE. She had left money to her brother George but he died first.
Hardinge KING, husband of Harriett Giffard's companion, had asked Sarah to make a new Will leaving all her money to George GIFFARD's widow Magdelen. Sarah died in lodgings at Redhill, her maid Annie Parfitt of Sidmouth having being sent away. All her Giffard money (£l300 pa) went to Magdelen GIFFARD nee MUSHET widow of George. Jane Mary LANDON nee Giffard said the FOLLETT money went back to Folletts.
