About Me

Hi, my name is Nigel Giddings, I live in NE Kent with my wife, Sharon, and my two Kids. I work in the telecommunications industry. I have worked in the UK, France (under the English Channel), Spain, Poland, The Netherlands, Italy and now Hungary. I have been a fan of American Cars since the age of about 16 or 17, I am now 36 ! Like most people I think my first exposure to American Cars was at the Movies. Such Road Movies as Bullit and Vanishing Point  developed the interest, to me these showed real Muscle Cars.

It was not until 1990 that I was able to actually buy one. Through a series of incidents, the first being the theft of my Range Rover, it was agreed between my wife, Sharon, and I that we would buy something that was a "bit of fun". Maybe it was early mid-life crisis ?

I began looking round in the UK. The first place I looked was the good old "Exchange & Mart" followed by "Autotrader", then all the American Car Magazines as well as the UK's own Custom Car and Street Machine. I was initially looking for a Mustang, the film Bullit had a great influence on this choice. We also attended a few shows and talked with as many people as possible.

I can't remember quite when but I had a flash of inspiration, I wanted a Mopar, and I wanted one BAD ! The more I read about them the more it was the car for me. I started to look at the different models, Cuda's, Challengers, GTX's, Chargers until finally I found the Roadrunner...

There are a couple of other cars in the family, we have a Vauxhall  Cavalier Convertible  (as a Run-About) and a Range Rover (in case it Snows). If anyone out there knows the website for the Cavalier Convertible Club could they please pass it on...

I am also have a few other interests, I am the proud owner of a 1967 Matchless 350 (Off the road at this time) I am the second owner. The first was a family member who decided to buy a bike with an electric start, well he is 76 !!! A Pinball Machine (High Speed II), and Sharon has a Wurlitzer 1800 from 1956 which was a  birthday present from yours truly.

A recent addition to the 'fleet' is an NCF Blitz. Daniel, my 15 year old son and I built it during the school holidays. Its a Space frame with Mini parts bolted to it. To see a picture click here.
