Genese Cup (Under 15)
PLAYING REGULATIONS
The control of the Genese Cup competition shall be the responsibility of the Management Committee of the North Kent Junior League whose decisions shall be final and binding on all member clubs entering the competition. In the event of a national or county competition also being run in conjunction with the Genese Cup, then only these Genese Cup rules must be used, not the rules for any other competition.
The Genese Cup competition is open to all member clubs, but a club may only enter 1 team.
All teams must apply to enter the competition before 1st June prior to the start of the competition.
All players must be under 15 years of age and at least 12 years of age at midnight on 31st August prior to the start of the competition. Any team fielding an ineligible player in a match will lose any points awarded to them from the fixture and their opponents will be awarded 16 points.
A player may play in this competition for only one member club in a season, unless, prior to 31st May, he is transferred to any other club in the League with the approval of both his original club and the League's Management Committee. Only one transfer per individual player is permissible per season. Any team fielding an ineligible player in a match will lose any points awarded to them from the fixture and their opponents will be awarded 16 points.
All players must be registered with the North Kent Junior League at least 48 hours before the start of a Genese Cup match, unless otherwise agreed by the managers of both teams. Registration data for a player must include their first name, surname, date of birth and the team they are to be registered for. Any team found, for a Genese Cup match, to be in breach of the above rules on registration, will be deducted either 1 point per unregistered player from any points that they are awarded from the fixture or all points if none of their players are registered.
The home club shall provide a 5½ oz match ball of a quality acceptable to both match managers and the umpires, the ball need not be new.
Each member club shall supply an umpire who shall be a competent and responsible adult.
Matches are to be played on weekday afternoons on dates allocated by the League's Fixtures Secretary. All matches should start at 2.30pm, unless otherwise agreed by both teams. A tea interval of up to 30 minutes may be taken between innings.
If a team defaults on three matches during the competition, the team's points will be erased from the league table, but they will still be allowed, if possible, to play their remaining fixtures on a friendly basis.
Matches abandoned because of bad weather or unfit playing conditions can not be rescheduled.
All teams must notify the League's Results Secretary of the result of their 'home' matches before 9.00pm on the Monday of the week following the playing of the match, even if the match is cancelled. Failure to do so may result in a £5 fine being imposed by the league on the defaulting club. A completed score sheet must also be submitted, within 2 weeks of the match being played, to the League's Results Secretary for all 'home' matches that are played. Failure to submit a completed score sheet may result in a £5 fine being imposed by the League on the defaulting club.
No coaching is allowed whilst play is in progress.
The safety of players is the responsibility of Match Managers and the umpires who will enforce the ECB Guidelines on the wearing of helmets, unless the Manager responsible for the player assures them that his club holds a consent to the contrary in the form recommended by the Guidelines. No fielder shall be allowed to field nearer than 11 yards from the bat, except behind the wicket on the off-side.
The home team should confirm the fixture and start time with the away team in the week before the match is to be played and give directions to the ground and a map if so requested. In the event of cancellation due to bad weather, the home team should notify the away team as soon as possible to prevent wasted travel.
The winning team shall be awarded 6 bonus points, in the event of a tie - when both teams score an identical number of runs, regardless of the number of wickets lost by either side - 3 points shall be awarded to both teams. 1 batting point, with a maximum of 5 points, shall be awarded for every 30 runs scored. A team batting second that scores less than 120 runs to win the match shall nevertheless be awarded 4 batting points. 1 bowling point shall be awarded for every 2 wickets to fall, but in the event of a team playing short and being 'all out', the fielding team shall receive 5 points. In the event of a match being abandoned, no points will be awarded to either side and the match will not count towards the number of matches played by either side in the competition. In the event of a club failing to fulfill a fixture or being unable to field a team, no points will be awarded to that club and the fixture will count against them as a match played. Their opponents will also not be awarded any points from the fixture, but it will not count towards the number of matches played by them in the competition.
The competition will be decided on an average points basis, where the total number of points gained by each team will be divided by the number of matches played. If 2 or more teams finish level on average points at the completion of the competition, then the teams will be deemed to have 'dead heated' and they will share the finishing position.
The Laws of Cricket (2000 Code) shall apply, except where inconsistent with these regulations.
Each game will be of a maximum of 70 overs, with the first innings being of not more than 35 overs. Managers may agree before the start of play to reduce the duration of the match to not less than 40 overs, in which event the first innings will be not more than one half of the reduced overs so agreed. If the length of the first innings is less than half the number overs agreed for the match, any unstarted overs may be used in the second innings. No bowler may bowl more than 7 overs.
Any teams, taking on average, throughout the innings for which they are the fielding side, more than 4 minutes to bowl each over, will lose 1 point, of any points that they awarded from the match, for every 15 seconds or part there of, that they average above 4 minutes per over. The playing time used to calculate the average over rate will not include time taken for weather delays, drinks breaks, ball changes and any unavoidable stoppages. This rule will apply in addition to any penalties that may be imposed under Law 42 sections 9 and 10, concerning time wasting by either side, in the Laws of Cricket (2000 Code).
The wicket-keeper shall not be changed during an innings, unless injured or taken ill during the innings.
All players should wear white cricket clothing or alternatively, an entire team may wear coloured clothing of the same design, provided it has been approved, in advance, by the Management Committee of the North Kent Junior League. Also, all players should wear white cricket boots or shoes and batsmen and wicket-keepers must wear pads, boxes and gloves as a minimum.
