The minutes of the Committee meeting held on
Matters Arising
The meeting regarding the ECB’s Child Protection Policy was held with David Nash, the KCB’s Welfare Officer.
Mike Donnelly had eventually obtained a policy guideline paper and will pass it to Steve Nash to include on the website.
E-mails received from several Club representatives were discussed.
Registrations
The necessity of registrations had been questioned. The Committee agreed that the discipline was still important and would be recommended to the AGM.
A & B Teams
It was again agreed that the existing conditions should be retained, with emphasis being placed on the over rider which was included last year, whereby difficulties could be referred to the Management Committee who could then use their discretion to allow movement between A & B if appropriate.
Fixture dates on
Website
This was not considered to be practical and allowing general access to the website could cause disruption to the system.
Fixtures during Exam
weeks
Mike Donnelly is to contact Andy Pye to suggest that if he has problems during this period then he is at liberty to rearrange the fixtures with the opposition.
Blackheath v Sidcup
U12 Junior Cup Semi-Final
A complaint was received from Gary Stark of Blackheath regarding the match being decided by toss of a coin.
A whole series of delays caused the situation to become necessary. Two of Sidcup’s early round matches were delayed because team managers were on holiday and subsequently, Blackheath could only play the semi-final on the Friday before the final on the Sunday. Inevitably, it rained on the Friday. Both managers then agreed to settle the game on the toss of a coin.
It was agreed that the League must be more insistent in future to ensure that cup ties are played by the “must be played by” date. Also the League must request Clubs to provide a second contact to cover for the absence of team managers.
Mike Donnelly is to reply to Gary Stark.
Finance
Peter Wooderson reported that the League’s current bank balance was £2925.32. Bills are yet to be received for trophies (£1500) and the six a side competition (£75).
Long outstanding were 2003 subscriptions and fines for Catford Wanderers amounting to £60. It was agreed that they must pay before they are able to play in 2005. Peter Wooderson is to write to Catford Wanderers.
Steve Nash provided details of fines for 2004 and will send them to each club.
Peter Wooderson recommended that we should switch to a cheque account on a 3-signature basis, with any one of the three people able to sign cheques. The signatories will be Peter Wooderson, John Monk and Mike Donnelly.
Peter Wooderson is to send forms to John Monk and Mike Donnelly for taking to an HSBC branch for proof of identity and specimen signatures.
Peter Wooderson recommended that subscriptions for both League and Cup competitions should remain as they are for 2005.
AGM on 19th October
2004
Officers - all are willing to continue, apart from Steve Nash who will stand down. Mike Donnelly is to highlight the urgent need for a replacement for this vital role when he advises members of AGM. Also, if necessary, he will suggest that this office could be split into three, ie. Fixtures Secretary, Results Secretary and Web Master.
To avoid ‘double voting’ at the AGM, Kevin Groom suggested that he prepares voting cards for each club.
Representative Match v. North Johannesburg
Kevin Groom reported that he has raised a side. Peter Wooderson is to investigate the possibility of presenting a pennant and medals to the participants.
District Matches
Mike Donnelly reported that Kim Melbourne of Holmesdale and the Kent Border League had advised him that the KCB were planning seven District games next season, all to be played on Sundays. He is concerned that this would badly affect the Under 15 Divisions. Peter Wooderson is to investigate and Mike Donnelly is to discuss with Chris Swadkin.
