Recommendations for 2004 Season Registrations
1. Timing - Initial lists of players should be submitted at least 1 week before the first league games. More than 1500 players were registered with the League last season, so this will allow a reasonable amount of time for registrations to be dealt with.
2. Club Registration Secretary - Each member club should nominate an individual who will be responsible for co-ordinating their club's registrations. Last year some teams left it to individual managers to register their players, which meant that up to five people from one club were trying to register players.
3. Format for Registrations - It would be appreciated if member clubs could submit their registrations electronically on a spreadsheet, as this makes it much easier to transfer information to the central database. The following format style is preferred -

Surname

4. Transfers - In previous seasons, when transfers have taken place, the player being transferred has not been allowed to play in the same league for the rest of the season. This appears to lack flexibility, so it is proposed that players are allowed to transfer once during the season with the cut-off date being the 31st May. This individual will then be allowed to play in the same League for the rest of the season. An official representative of both clubs must approve a transfer in writing.
5. Eligibility - Players as young as eight were registered by a number of clubs last season! No changes in eligibility are proposed, so it is not necessary to register players for the under 11 league or friendlies. Nor is it necessary to register players for cup matches if they have already been registered for the league.
Players up to 2 years younger than the age group of the league in which they are playing will be eligible to play e.g. under 13, under 14 and under 15 are allowed to play in the under 15 league. Exceptionally, under 10s will be allowed to play in under 13 cricket and under 9s will be allowed to play in under 12 cricket, but only with consent of their parent or guardian and an official of their club.
