Junior Cup (Under 12)
PLAYING REGULATIONS
The control of the Junior Cup competition shall be the responsibility of the Management Committee of the North Kent Junior League whose decisions shall be final and binding on all member clubs entering the competition. In the event of a national or county competition also being run in conjunction with the Junior Cup, then only these Junior Cup rules must be used, not the rules for any other competition.
The Junior Cup competition is open to all member clubs, but a club may only enter 1 team.
All teams must apply to enter the competition before 1st June prior to the start of the competition.
All players must be under 12 years of age and at least 9 years of age at midnight on 31st August prior to the start of the season. However, a team with insufficient players to field a full side may use players below the minimum age level, providing that the team manager considers that the players in question are competent enough to play at the Under 12 age level. A signed form, giving parental consent and countersigned by the team manager, must be lodged with the League, for each player below the minimum age level, at the time that the player is registered and before the player takes part in a Junior Cup match. Any team fielding an ineligible player in a fixture will be disqualified from the competition and their opponents will be awarded the match.
A player may play in this competition for only one member club in a season, unless, prior to 31st May, he is transferred to any other club in the League with the approval of both his original club and the League's Management Committee. Only one transfer per individual player is permissible per season. Any team fielding an ineligible player in a fixture will be disqualified from the competition and their opponents will be awarded the match.
All players must be registered with the North Kent Junior League at least 48 hours before the start of a Junior Cup match, unless otherwise agreed by the managers of both teams. Registration data for a player must include their first name, surname, date of birth and the team they are to be registered for. Any team found, for a Junior Cup match, to be in breach of the above rules on registration, will be disqualified from the competition and their opponents will be awarded the match.
The home club shall provide a 4¾ oz match ball of a quality acceptable to both match managers and the umpires, the ball need not be new. Wickets should be 8 inches (20.32cm) in width and be pitched at a distance of 21 yards (19.20m) with 27 inch (68.58cm) stumps.
Each member club shall supply an umpire who shall be a competent and responsible adult.
Matches played on a weekday evening must start by 5.30pm at the latest and matches played at weekends must start by 9.30am.
All teams must notify the League's Results Secretary of the result of their 'home' matches before 9.00pm on the Monday of the week following the playing of the match, even if the match is cancelled. Failure to do so may result in a £5 fine being imposed by the League on the defaulting club. A completed score sheet must also be submitted, within 2 weeks of the match being played, to the League's Results Secretary for all 'home' matches that are played. Failure to submit a completed score sheet may result in a £5 fine being imposed by the League on the defaulting club.
No coaching is allowed whilst play is in progress.
2 runs and any runs scored will be counted for no balls and wides with no extra ball being bowled. This will apply for all overs, apart from the scheduled final over of an innings, when extra balls will be bowled, with the same allowance of 2 runs being counted, along with any runs scored from no balls and wides.
A batsman shall retire on scoring 25 runs but may resume his innings when all other batsmen in his team have batted and if there are other batsmen who have retired, he shall retire again on scoring a further 25 runs, but he may resume his innings again when all other retired batsmen have resumed their innings as above. A batsman who so retires and does not resume his innings shall be 'Retired Not Out'. Retired batsmen must return in their order of retirement.
The safety of players is the responsibility of Match Managers and the umpires who will enforce the ECB Guidelines on the wearing of helmets, unless the Manager responsible for the player assures them that his club holds a consent to the contrary in the form recommended by the Guidelines. No fielder shall be allowed to field nearer than 11 yards from the bat, except behind the wicket on the off-side.
The home team should confirm the fixture and start time with the away team in the week before the match is to be played and give directions to the ground and a map if so requested. In the event of cancellation due to bad weather, the home team should notify the away team as soon as possible to prevent wasted travel.
The winning side is the team with the most runs, if equal, the team losing the least wickets. If still equal, the team with the highest score at the end of 23 overs will be the winner and if still equal, the team with the highest score at the end of 22 overs, 21 overs, etc. will be the winner.
The Laws of Cricket (2000 Code) shall apply, except where inconsistent with these regulations.
Each innings should be of a maximum of 24 overs. However, Managers may agree, before the start of play, to reduce the duration of each innings, down to a minimum of 20 overs per innings. Any unstarted overs in the first innings may not be used in the second innings. No bowler may bowl more than 4 overs.
The wicket-keeper shall not be changed during an innings, unless injured or taken ill during the innings.
All players should wear white cricket clothing or alternatively, an entire team may wear coloured clothing of the same design, provided it has been approved, in advance, by the Management Committee of the North Kent Junior League. Also, all players should wear white cricket boots or shoes and batsmen and wicket-keepers must wear pads, boxes and gloves as a minimum.
