THE KING’S DRAGON |

This replica is a reproduction of the original used in the BBC Schools’ Programme ‘Look and Read’ serial, The King’s Dragon (1977). The arm-ring is cast in Cold Bronze authentically plated in 18-carat Gold, and hallmarked; the eye is finished in ruby-red enamel. This artifact is 5 ¾ inches in diameter, and stands just under 5 inches high. It is a putative arm-ring believed to be the provenance of the kings of Wessex, the last of whom was King Harold who died in the Battle of Hastings (1066). The Dragon depicted on a banner in the world-famous Bayeux Tapestry was the inspiration for this piece. |
