Never!! at 23:24:42 Sunday June 30 2002
A6 Village boy, you dont get it do you? the reason we feel like shit over the arrival of GDS is because we love our club and dont want to see it dragged through the crap, but nothing will stop us loving it and devoting our love elsewhere. Most of us will still go, some will not and lose interest like we did in the 80's, but changing our alegiance to Rubbish and Dustbins? Never, most of us will simply watch on in horror and pray for it all to go wrong quickly so we can save the club whilst there is something left to save, as to Stonhill and co, I would just like to say the following, thanks for nothing, thanks for selling us out to save your own pockets, and when the truth outs don't expect to be forgivven, or to peddle your wares around the town, slide off into a corner, better still you go and watch R&D after all money talks there as well.
A6 Village boy. at 22:59:18 Sunday June 30 2002
If you are unhappy with GDS, and the set up at Sixfields, then why not come along and support the good honest club down the A6?
This is a great site! at 20:55:30 Sunday June 30 2002
Hi, I'm an American arriving here by accident. Let me get this straight. Stonhill is one of the guys who helped save the Cobblers? (Cute name that!) The Trust guys helped by raising a few dollars as well? The Trust are still good guys, but Stonhill's real motives were to one day sell the club down the river to the Fascist friend of an ex-Communist dictator? Right? The John F Kennedy thing is nothing compared to this. Why didn't he just let the club die in the first place? They are no good and not many people would have missed them it seems. If you do survive, however, Go Cobblers!

Let's judge the man by the amount of money he gives Kevan an dby his future actions. Frankly, I think most people who take over football clubs are dodgy in one way or another.

Spin - what planet are you on? All I wrote was that with the deal reported as done we have to live with GDS. I didn't say I was for or against his take over.

Done deal it may be but if you think that opinion will suddenly swerve to 100% backing for di Stefano think again.

Brentford supporters have raised £250 000 for the club for next season. How many Trusts do they have?
Nosey Parker at 19:1:54 Sunday June 30 2002
"Anyone who thinks Stonhill has not milked the club for every penny he could must be living in cuckoo land?" When I posted this I didn't mean to put a question mark at the end as it is a stupid statement and not a question. And when I said "Stick Stonhill/Swallow up your arse" I said YOUR arse. Now someone has stuck them in mine and - well, I quite like it.
Sell on claws at 18:53:15 Sunday June 30 2002
I've heard that Stonhill and his cronies are getting £5 million each and are on 20% of any profit made at the next sale of the club.
Realist at 18:46:21 Sunday June 30 2002
The debate is over. It is a done deal and we have to move on from here with the club under new ownership. It may be controversial and that is what the Trust is all about - to keep a close on on things and report back to ots membership.

I understand your concern, and I`m sure that there`s not one of us who are a 100% sure that any major decision is going to suceed or fail, but regarding the Takeover if the GDS bid was refused ,and further down the line the club were to drop down into the Conference,or worse still go into liquidation.Would there not be many more fans saying that they should have accepted GDS` bid when they had it?
History at 15:48:36 Sunday June 30 2002
STALKA, they are not just doing some cosy business deal they are selling over 100 years of history down the drain, no other business has so many interested parties involved and your "they know best" and "lets doff our caps to our superiors" attitude is sickening
STALKA at 15:22:5 Sunday June 30 2002
You are so right in what you say 6FIELDS STRANGLER.There are many short sighted people on this site,as well as being totally unqualified to question major decisions made by those directly involved in the business side of NTFC.Having been moderately successful in my own business dealings I feel qualified to say that there are many factors that have to be looked at, before making any major decision, and I know that many of these factors must remain confidential. Therefore who has a right to question contracts , buying and selling etc without knowing all of the facts?

Anon at 14.30 &1435.Are you really that stupid.Chris hargreaves was offered his new contract before GDS became the main contender for major shareholder, and we will have to see whether he sees fit to increase the offer that ws made before.I think you will find there are better players than Hargreaves, Hunter and Hunter available with the collapse of ITV Digital ,and they may well come at a cheaper price.
STALKA at 14:51:35 Sunday June 30 2002
Footnote, I wasn`t comparing Mr Barwell with GDS on a personal level ,I was merely pointing out that there are some who whatever the reason (politically or otherwise) do not like the idea of one person in control. What I will say however ,is that with the deal now done and dusted what do the anti GDS people intend to do now .Do they intend to moan and grumble through the season waiting for failure for them to be justified,or now get behind the club and look forward to hopefully a successful season. I for one support Northampton Town Football club not the man who owns it.
6FIELDS STRANGLER at 14:50:43 Sunday June 30 2002
There are some short sighted morons on this site, there really is. Get behind this GDS take over now, or N.T.F.C. WILL GO TO THE WALL...
Anon at 14:35:23 Sunday June 30 2002
Then again he could be the liquidator in disguise.
Anon at 14:30:22 Sunday June 30 2002
GDS must be the first owner of a football club who doesn't want to come to any matches, thats weird, als if this guy has buckets full of cash, how come Hargreaves must accept a cut in wages? am I missing something here?
A6 village boy, and proud of it at 14:16:27 Sunday June 30 2002
It's alright for you lot to slag Stonhill off because he is selling out to GDS, but where was your loyalty to him when things we not so good with the past managers.? I say good luck to Stonhill, why should he be worried about anyone of you ,or the club, after the way he has been treated in the past.
Footnote at 11:59:10 Sunday June 30 2002
Stalka comparing Barwell to GDS is like comparing Mother Terasa to Adolf Hitler!! I hope you will sign off now, and as I am one of those who has changed my mind big time I think your analysis may be clouded by the wish not to be proven wrong. The only views I hear are its too late, its done and dusted and we have stiched up like a kipper. I am afraid I cannot respect your view which is too Wilsherite for my liking. Come on Brazil !!
STALKA at 11:33:24 Sunday June 30 2002
With respect. I speak to many fans and not one has changed their minds on their view of the Takeover. There are some who are still strongly against GDS and will no doubt remain so,but by far the majoity now just want to get on with supporting their team and directing their energy in a positive manner. As a footnote to this debate,I remember a colleague of mine attending an open meeting at the Saints a few years ago where many supporters were against a certain Mr Barwell taking over their club, because they believed it would destroy the fundamental roots of the club.I think that it has proved that it is essential that outside investment by one man or a group is vital to the progression and indeed the survival of a sporting club, yet some people for political and personal reasons just don`t like this.
B.J.M at 11:26:8 Sunday June 30 2002
...hence other offers not being acceptable. I know for a fact that this is why the Italian consortium offer was not acceptable to the board. Oh dear, I just used that word that NTFC@2view doesn't like!
B.J.M at 11:24:53 Sunday June 30 2002
I doubt it. If they are getting their loans repaid, I'm sure the directors would insist that most of it was done up front.
Credit wher its not due at 11:16:10 Sunday June 30 2002
BJM, unfortunatly the first people that seem willing to give him credit are the board of directors and some of our fans romanced by his promises. Greed will lead to all sorts of people being willing to allow him to run up debt's
B.J.M at 11:15:5 Sunday June 30 2002
Yes it is time to look forward, but believe me the past will keep getting dragged up. It is unavoidable with this man's history. At the slightest hint of trouble everyone will start getting twitchy, including the staunchest supporters of GdS.
B.J.M at 11:12:41 Sunday June 30 2002
Without wishing to appear anti-Stonhill just for the sake of it, I wonder what he meant when he was talking about GdS fulfilling certain criteria that they asked him to meet. Did that include proof of funds, and if so was it just proof of funds to pay off directors loans or a minimum amount to "take the club forward"?
Anon at 11:12:14 Sunday June 30 2002
Stalka .As much as I agree with you,I think we are covering old ground, and I think its time to stop looking back.Whatever is going to happen, will happen .For sure it will be an interesting ride, and only time will tell who was right and who was wrong.
Seems they judged it right! at 11:10:35 Sunday June 30 2002
STALKA, The trust exec's crime seems to be that they looked beyond the stores door whilst most fans were too busy looking in the Toy Shop window, marvelling at all the goodies on offer. Its clear that since the heady night of that trust open forum that the tide has turned and fans having looked at the whole picture are just as concerned. The official site is a joke and if Sid follows suit then CC will be the only place to express an opinion. Some of us in the future may just have to swallow large slices of humble pie over this and banging on about the the exec's view is irrelevant
B.J.M at 11:10:14 Sunday June 30 2002
I don't think anyone really knows how much cash GdS has. His whole history is so clouded, how could anyone make a reasonable estimate?
B.J.M at 11:8:24 Sunday June 30 2002
You have a good point there "just a thought". Although I don't really see him being able to run up debts on credit, I mean who is going to give him credit terms with his reputation?
Just a thought at 11:6:25 Sunday June 30 2002
'Time will tell', tell what? That we are buggered, shafted and this time down for the count? Surely we need to be convinced that GDS is the right bid. Otherwise KC you'll be watching the Poppies!!
B.J.M at 11:5:28 Sunday June 30 2002
If that is true that they have been deleting anything which is anti-GDS, frankly it is pathetic and you have to question their suitability to moderate a message board. At least here everyone gets to have their say, even if I personally don't agree some of it.
just a thought at 11:1:7 Sunday June 30 2002
G113 West Stand, Yes GDS has Cash, wheelbarrows full of it, but when his last U.K company Sandhurst Assetts PLC went to the wall with none other than the Rev Page on the board, did he pay back the £800,000 it owed in debts? No he simply dissolved the company. Now we have 2 Students and the Rev Page to run up enough debts to make even Dick Underwood blush, any quesses for what will happen when the boys get bored of playing Championship Manager and unpaid creditors are screaming for their money? GDS has no interest in football, he has dissolved one company recently why not another? looks like we will have to join Wimbledon and set up as AFC Northampton playing on the Racecourse in the UCL

I've just found a site which describes GDS as a 'Maestro di Orror e Fantasia' - hold tight
STALKA at 10:58:56 Sunday June 30 2002
As interesting as it is ,and indeed healthy to have a for and against on any subject.I find it fascinating that the anti GDS campaigners are grumbling about the censoring and bias stance taken up by certain Sites and message boards, when inthe first instance it was nine other than the Trust executive that took it upon themselves to declare an anti GDS view before consulting its members. An unforgivable error of judgment ,and one which I believe has severely damaged their reputation, and the democratic voice which it is supposed to support.I am a Trust member ,and have spoken to others who feel exactly the same.

Mr Di Steffano is a very rich man, now for all you winers from the north stand that means he has cash. Now a simple fact for all Cash = Sucsess, take any club with mooney like say reading or stoke or wigan who all challanged for pormotoin or play offs sure wigan failed but they have the money to sucseed and now that gds own 60% of the club or what ever it is we will have cash. i bothered to look up mr di steffano on the internet and foud that he is payed fuck loads of money and has 1000's of millions on pounds = good if you take struggling div 2 club ie Us and add cash you get promotoin or a cup like ldvs vans . okay and he wion't sell up he would make a loss

Sid the Censor2 at 0:2:21 Sunday June 30 2002
While your at it Sid, when are you going to publish the rsults of your Di Stefano yes or No poll? GDS was clearly losing and yet unlike every other poll you have decided not to publish the result? Seems like someone at the club has got to you big time.
a passer by at 23:58:25 Saturday June 29 2002
Well said Without a Paddle. Stonhill is proved to be lying about the Barry bid and is definitely not acting in the interest of the long term future of the club. And for all those who are saying he 'saved' the club for your information the main person to thank is Barry Ward and all those creditors who were persuaded to take peanuts instead of what they were owed. The present directors have all had their moneysworth in privileged access to games taken their cronies to Wembley etc.,and are still going to have their priveleges as directors. Time will tell whether GDS is the right person, unfortunately though by then it will be too late for all of us.
Sid the Censor at 23:38:38 Saturday June 29 2002
what agreat pity it is that now even sid sidwell has joined the band of we know "whats good for you" brigade he has now deleted anti gds material on the basis that its not about football? meanwhile the right wing idiots continue to post on his sight boasting of punch ups with asians on the wellingborough rd and allowing crap about how many Kosovans have been beat up and lets others discuss their drinking feats and plans. Sid 1) GDS is taking over our club and that means it is football business and 2) I have posted this here because it is now the only uncensored message board which allows both sides of the story to be heard, come on mate dont be intimidated by mr GDS stand up for the fans, or is ntfcunofficial now just a sop for the official site?
without a paddle at 23:27:13 Saturday June 29 2002
Stonhill said at the trust meeting that there was no other bid. He said he had heard that someone had been in contact with the trust claiming a bid was made in March but this was not true. He said it in front of 200 people. And then what the Chron confirms yesterday that low and behold there was another bid. Stonhill says it was no good, but having lied and said it didn't excist, i'm inclined not to believe him, he said at the trust meeting he would not make a penny profit, maybe so but GDS will pay him back all his loans and this other guy Barry would not, is that what he means by best interests of the club? We have been sold a pup and supporters are only starting to realise it when its too late. well if he's got any balls he could always prove us wrong by not selling out to GDS, instead of selling us down the river.

I think I will continue to be sarcastic and try to degrade any unsubstantiated and unfair views posted. Things such as denigrating Stonhill for getting some of his OWN money back, or people who repeat postings and add FACT that haven't given a fact. I will also have a go at anons and people that use or abuse my posting name as they haven't any views they want to put forward as 'themselves'. ...he's making money from the deal. With assets way undervaluing debts how can he make cash? When you listen to those who finance smaller nationwide clubs they all say the same thing - we are not in it for the money, but for the love of the club. There is a counter argument which suggests that Stonhill's other business interests will have performed better because ofhis profile - I don't think that applies here though. Chairmen don't necessarily sell more houses do they! We are at the dawn of a new era and its a shame all the GDS bumph is taking the shine off it, the future may be exciting. I say may, I still want to know exactly what GDS is going to bring to the club - how much money, what new players, does he want to get the ground at some point? Fash may have been a time waster, but the reasoning behind that bid all stacked up and I believed it, I've still a few doubts re GDS, however, we've no choice but to give it a go, watch him closely and continue supporting the team.

Why the aggro? If you can't exchange views on here what's the point in having CC as a forum for debate? Leave 2View alone - whether you agree or not. We sometimes forget, all contributors on this board have got a single common interest - supporting the Cobblers. So its gonna be next week is it? We'll see - I think most people have lost a bit of faith with all the nearly announcements. Whatever, the sooner its done the sooner we can see what GDS is going to bring to the party. Can we expect some decent signings before the start of the season? Will he stump up the cash to secure the 4 out of contract players? It'll be interesting to see how Jamie is handled next year - last year of his contract etc. Jamie will be a good barometer of GDS' impact - if he signs a new deal maybe the future is good, if he wants away it'll ask more questions. If Jamie doesn't want to sign we need to get him on the list asap to avoid another Steve Howard - how much do you think he is worth now? Am I right in...

So what if Stonhill etc. have made some money on the takeover deal? They were prepared to put some (maybe not much) finance into the club and keep it afloat for the last ten years or so. on the face of it , the Di Stefano deal looks ok and has got to be better than yo-yoing between div 2 and 3 with no prospect any advancement. Has'nt it?

"stonhill saved the club"...along with the creditors who agreed to accept 5p each to settle their debts when we were in administration? How much did they contribute exactly? How much do we owe to others now?
Dummies at 19:6:26 Friday June 28 2002
Who can blame Stonhill if he is lining his pockets .... knowing how much money he and the other directors have put in over the last 10 years when they saved the club ... Some people keep fogeting this ... THEY SAVED THE CLUB now they are selling the club to GDS who will come in a do all the easy work and take us to division1
NTFC@2view at 18:49:6 Friday June 28 2002
I hope the board you ex-Cobblers supporters are going to is more harmonious, whether it be Rushden or Milton Keynes.
B.J.M at 18:19:0 Friday June 28 2002
As if Goater would step down to Division2 having scored so many in Division 1! Stonhill and co staying on the board? Sounds to me like having their cake and eating it. Or having their loans back and keeping their freebies. They can't believe their luck I bet! Sounds too good to be true. Who's going to get the rough end of the deal? That'll be the club no doubt.

I'll try again - we must all remember that the directors have 'acted in the best interest of the club' - like hell they have they have just lined their own pockets and run. Looking at the other offer it could not be said that it is inferior to GDS except that the directors wouldn't get so much. As for Goater for Forrester are we going back to the long ball game or what ???

I am persevering through this boring takeover talk. Keegan wants Forrester in exchange for Goater. I have heard it from two different sources and it is on The Radio Five Live website.
Anon at 15:12:34 Friday June 28 2002
any firm interested in a land seal would only have used the club (and its preferential status with NBC as a tenant) to get a good deal on whatever packages it may have been interested in. The survival of the club would have been important in the short term but the long term fortunes on the field would be at best secondary and at worse an inconvenience
Double Standards? at 14:44:16 Friday June 28 2002
.....as for Stonhill what respect I did have for the man went when he accepted that Di Stefano was a suitable owner of NTFC
Double Standards? at 14:39:8 Friday June 28 2002
As far as I recall the Football Club have first refusal on the Stadium (as they already occupy that) but any other land such as the North and South Car Parks etc. would have to go out to open tender if they were to be sold or leased. I would guess that these other bidders were also interested in buying land at Sixfields not used by NTFC although they may have bought the club first.
Anon at 14:36:22 Friday June 28 2002
I AGREE WITH YOU NOSEY PARKER WELL SAID.
NTFC@2view at 14:6:39 Friday June 28 2002
DS? Your 'reading between the lines' was the usual attempt to show Stonhill et al in a bad light - you alone could 'see' it, so it was phantom. More worrying, however, is the statment that the sale of the council land would have to go out to tender. At no time were we told this when Fashanu was supposed to be bidding. It seems as if a Company could buy the Club and a different one put in a bigger tender for the stadium - which is total nonsense. Or was that just the way the report was written?
watching brief at 13:10:19 Friday June 28 2002
well said "sweeping generalizations" I totally agree
Double Standards? at 12:52:56 Friday June 28 2002
Sorry bNTFC@2View, having read your posting again I don't think you implied that I was "phamtom" but the other bidder is "phantom". Details are actually shown in the Chron - Its Tom Barry from a company called Media and Entertainment Management Ltd. They made an offer in March which would "secure the immediate future of the club and take over overdraft guarantees from existing directors" etc etc. The report in trhe Chron is not that long and doubtless there is a lot more in the offer which may be relevant.
Double Standards? at 12:44:22 Friday June 28 2002
NTFC@2view, my non de plume (if thats how its spelt) is no more or less "phantom" than any others, including your own. All I have done is pointed out that there is/was another bidder who may have been worth a look although the Chron report suggests that Di Steffno's bid is better for Stonhill. Even though I'm not happy about it I accept that Di Stefano will now control the club and its almost certainly too late for another bidder. I can understand why many fans accept Di Stefano because they have been told by Stonhill that he is the only serious bidder but if it transpires that the club could/should have been sold to someone else with a less contriversial background than Di Stefano that has at best divided fans and at worst may have all sorts of repercussions I don't think you would say that Stonhill and the rest of the board have acted in the best interests of NTFC.
NTFC@2view at 12:21:23 Friday June 28 2002
After x years, just on the point of a takeover, a phantom bidder is spotted by Double Standards?. As with all phantoms, you can't see him, except between the lines of course. When the 99% of the posters on this board (modest claim or what?) trot off to Rushden or Wimbledon, what will be the next 'big issue'? Back to Gabbi's wages I suppose.
The Drilling Cobbler at 12:13:52 Friday June 28 2002
Nosey Parker - your concerns about GDS buying companies, taking money from them and closing them down is valid. However, I fail to see how anyone could possibly achieve this with NTFC. The only thing of value attached to the Cobblers is the brand - in todays market the players are worthless in terms of assets - there is simply nothing that he could sell. All ticket sales goes through a third party - another company - and the council owns the stadium. And why would someone who is worth 300million look at a 2nd division club which turns over about 2.5million pa to make money? The figures involved are chicken feed in comparison to what money he has got. The problem with McRitchie was that he did not have a pot to piss in, and that he did not have any business acumen. Neither of these concerns should be attached to GDS. Logically I do not think we have a great deal to worry about.
Sweeping Generalizations at 11:55:40 Friday June 28 2002
Hey Nosey, TCMP is only saying what 99% of us think is he? Now who is spinning the "facts". The situation is this: we are skint, without money we will be lucky to exist midway through next season. GDS decides he wants to buy us, the board accepts. None of us is 100% sure about this bloke, but for the good of the club (and remember we all support and love NTFC) we need to form a united front and ensure that the future will be a good one.
Double Standards? at 11:21:28 Friday June 28 2002
Have a look at todays Chron (page 11). it seems there was another bidder who wanted to buy the club but was turned away. Reading between the lines it seems that this offer was not that attractive to Stonhill but I wonder how it did offer to secure the future of NTFC.
Nosey Parker at 11:3:46 Friday June 28 2002
Forrester for Goater........my arse!!!..........Of course Stonhill has lined his own pocket and gets to sit on the board and has his freebies with his arse lickers. then of course when its gone tits up then he can say "its nothing to do with me"......At the end of the day the wanker is an always will be an estate agent...........who trust's one of them anyway? TCMP is the only one to stand up to all this crap in public and say what 99% think.........we will be turmned over by this thief/terrorist..call him what you want but I guarantee that long term we will lose out on sponsorship etc because no one with any DECENT living/company etc want anything to do with him or his crooked past.

Double Standards? at 10:2:47 Friday June 28 2002
Methinks its more in the best interests of Stonhills pocket. His comment that he is not making a profit out of the deal does not mean he is making a big loss. Anyone who can walk away from a football club and get any money back would be delighted. Maybe there have been other offers which would have benefitted NTFC but not those who want out.

Faie enough, skeleons! I just think that given the impossible position we were in last season both on and off the pitch, did we have a choice and shouldn't we wait and see? If I had the money, I would have bought the club and cherished it. I don't, though. My dad has, and used to love the Cobblers, but that affair ended long ago I'm afraid.

you speak a lot of common sense Double Standards, I think that a lot of fans are now starting to wake up and realise the gds deal is not all good news and whilst most of us will still follow the team there will be an unease about the long term future of the club. Somebody told me that the co-op have already pulled out as the clubs bankers so its probably only a matter of time before Nationwide do likewise. Oh Happy Day
Double Standards at 13:28:14 Thursday June 27 2002
Although I am a cynic about offers for NTFC I suspect that Di Stefano is all but there and the lose ends will soon be tied up. Interesting times ahead and with the possibility of better results or the fat hitting the fan or maybe even both. Having renewed season tickets a few weeks ago I'll still be going as I don't see why I should miss out on my saturdays at NTFC even though I don't trust Di Stefano. Other spending such as shirts, programmes, sponsorship will be stopped whilst Di Stefano is involved. Hopefully Nationwide won't feel the same way otherwise there will be a new home shirt this season after all.

Wether people agree or disagree about GDS, its going to be a very interesting few weeks leading upto the season. I think we will be able to gauge GDS's intentions very quickly with the type of players we sign/resign during the next month or so. For the first time ever - assuming the administrative formalities are completed - we appear to be in a position to challenge the 'big' clubs in the 2nd division. I read on text yesterday that Coventry are about to complete the signing of Ray Van whoever from Man Utd - wasnt Welch not rumoured to be going there? Great PR installing a Reverend onto the board! Just an idea but how about the club mount a massive advertising campaign in Milton Keynes this season, as it looks unlikely Wimbledon will be on the move for at least another season. Would like to think the new regime would be willing to try and promote the club its image and its games much more. Must say I didn't expect Mr Di Stefano to have such a thick Wellingboro accent when I heard him last night on Radio Northampton indeed it took the Baary Stonhill interview to convince me it wasn' a hoax call.....

At present I am embarrassed by someone who keeps telling me I will be embarrassed but not what I have said which is untrue to be embarrassed about. Tell me what I have said that is in dispute. As for the ethnic cleansing in Abington Street - it was a joke you silly billies! Just because I didn't put LOL.

I'm sorry, I seem to have strayed onto a political fanaticist's site. Anybody know where the Cobblers Comments site has been moved to?
The Future at 14:23:27 Wednesday June 26 2002
What does the future hold? constant embarrassment, uncertain motives, huge wage bills to cover the cost of Scottish Internationals and Georgian captains, and then when GDS is bored, or his children are bored with their present, then the debt is bigger the running costs are greater and no one will touch us with a bargepole, perhaps struggling on and waiting for a real alternative that all supporters can get behind is not such a bad option. It doesn't matter if you are for or against GDS it is obviuos that the fans are split over the deal and no amount of spinning by the club will alter that fact one jot.
LH at 14:13:2 Wednesday June 26 2002
.....we cut our cloth accordingly and carry on as we are.

Parachuting tigers, what is the point of discussing it? We allready know what the future holds, if GDS dont take over.............

Drilling Cobbler at 12:56:49 . Fair enough, but there is a distinction between the "all's fair in business" argument and being potrayed as a close aide of someone who unquestionably was responsible for the deaths of thousands?
LH at 13:2:56 Wednesday June 26 2002
Drilling , you have your opinion I have mine . We agree to disagree.
parachuting tigers!! at 12:59:2 Wednesday June 26 2002
are we to believe then ntfc@2view that you would have no problem or indeed would be happy if mass the ethnic cleansing of Kosovans took place on Abington Street? I have read similar right wing views on Sid Sidwells site and it becomes difficult to detach politics from football when those who purport to support the club hold such extreme views, ask Millwall if they were ever forgiven for the racist rantings of a minority, no on this issue it is right and proper that we should discuss what the future holds even if it is uncomfortable for those who just want to take the money and to hell with the consequences
SPIN at 12:58:22 Wednesday June 26 2002
Thank you LH. Very well put. Pardon me for asking, but can someone explain the logic behind NTFC@2view's arguments. (Like, what exactly are his arguments?) I fail to see any consistency in what he says, merely rambling about easy targets such as the IRA, Kosovan refugees or other people's posts which have no relevance to the subject whatsoever. Am I right in assuming your point is essentially this - 1. GdS has not been found guilty of any crime, 2. He has lots of money, 3. The club is desperate, therefore 4. He is a suitable owner.
The Drilling Cobbler at 12:56:49 Wednesday June 26 2002
LH, GDS owns shares in Norwich - when have they been identified by people in a negative light because of this? The same can be said of Dundee. Darlington are associated with a safe cracker, ex convict who spent time in prison for his crimes. Do people hate Darlington because of this? Fulham are owned by arguably one of the biggest 'dodgy dealers'/corrupt business men in this country. Someone who tried to buy their arch rivals beforehand but was told where to go by Ken Bates. People might dislike them because of the 'bandwagon' supporters element, but for no other reason. Personally I associate clubs with their supporters/area/history etc - not with the person who happens to be their majority shareholder. When are Birmingham publicly associated with pornography? Blackpool with paedafiles? (sorry I cant spell!) The list is endless. And surely being seen as a struggling honest lower league team is not something to be particularly proud of! Maybe we will not be soon with GDS's money....
LH at 12:30:23 Wednesday June 26 2002
If you search Mother Teresa on the web you find good / positive responses ,If you search on GDS you find worrying / negative . Something has obviously gone on. As Drilling states earlier a football club becomes an integral part of the fabric of the Town , people identify with it and other towns associte the town with the football club Town. If GDS buys the Club we will be indentified not as a good ,honest struggling lower division Club but as the Club owned by the guy who was friends and business partner with a Serbian warlord who committed warcrimes & atrocities. In my opinion it is this previous history which makes GDS not a suitable person to own NTFC. ntfc@ 2view seems to want to excuse GDS by rewriting modern history and he / she should be embarrassed by the logic of this. We all know what went on in the Balkans in the 90's and its impossible to put a gloss or spin on it from whichever angle or political divide you look .
NTFC@2view at 12:25:42 Wednesday June 26 2002
On a 'not likely to happen' note, here's a question. If Arkan's Tigers parachuted in and cleared the town centre of all the lounging Kosovan Youth, would you be 1 openly happy 2 happy, but pretending to be outraged 3 genuinely outraged that, even though we bombed Milosevic and got him out of power, they can stay here if they want?
NTFC@2view at 12:17:16 Wednesday June 26 2002
Sorry about the stupid, but there was no chance of your option being possible. That's all I meant. As for clouding the isue - morality is morality. I didn't buy S African goods during Apartheid. Big deal you may say, but I didn't. So the takeover by suppliers of BRITISH weapons of death isn't a total side issue - except it isn't likely to happen. I'm still amazed at the politicization of this and other boards by people - not you - that have probably never heard of Northampton Town, let alone watched them. Big Jim, we none of us has experience of occupation by a 'foreign power' and don't really know how we'd act. And YES - which part is a yes? The house? I can see you on the internet now trying to find if the couple who came round your house had any 'dirty links'. NOT.
YES at 10:59:35 Wednesday June 26 2002
some of us would...YES
The Drilling Cobbler at 10:33:21 Wednesday June 26 2002
And before someone starts 'trawling' the web looking for evidence to support their political beliefs DONT BOTHER. Would those same people check out personal details about someone who wished to buy their house, car etc or would they be happy providing that person paid up? Or would they resign from their job putting themselves on the breadline if it became evident that their employer was supporting a politic cause that they were not comfortable with? The current board have to take into consideration that they are now unable to fund NTFC, it is not upto us to question who they sell the club - all we can do is hope that whoever it is respects the fact that a football club is an institution and is a large part of many peoples lives. Providing they do not abuse it, surely the rest can be waived aside.
The Drilling Cobbler at 10:23:3 Wednesday June 26 2002
Gerry Adams is involved in front line politics. He is an elected MP representing a political party. As far as I know GDS's current involvements in politics are more back stage, ie representing some of those that are through his profession. Some would say that Tony Clarke represents a political party that is more than happy to involve itself in wars that have NOTHING today with this country. I do not personnally take this stance but some would. Is it Oldham or Burnley where the BNP recently won seats via a democratic poll? I wouldnt vote for them but then I do not agree with their policies. Others do, therefore one has to respect that. Leave politics out of it, this whole takeover saga is about what is best for NTFC, it is not a party political broadcast for every extreme left winger to take part in. Money is what we need, better players etc and frankly everything else is irrelevant.
Hotel Ender at 10:3:28 Wednesday June 26 2002
please note I did not call your questions "stupid" even though you dismissed mine in that peremptory manner.
Hotel Ender at 9:58:50 Wednesday June 26 2002
NTFC@2view - you didn't answer the question. But I believe the analogy between Gerry Adams and his support for the IRA and its aims and GDS' support for Milosovic and his aims is a valid one. I think you are trying to cloud the issue by your other questions. You appear to support the takeover by GDS, but surely you appreciate the concerns raised by those of us not wanting to become the pariahs of the football league?
BIG JIM at 8:32:25 Wednesday June 26 2002
Gerry Adams represents the Republican movement(i.e.SINN FEIN/IRA) and if you took abit longer looking in the Sun or some two bit newspaper, you will find that he was the Commander of the Provisional IRA and led the split from the Official IRA in the early `70`s. He is a bad bastard who murdered and conspired to murder a lot of British servicemen and RUC Police officers. Gerry Adams is still a very senior figure in the IRA and because you don`t see it or hear about they are and always have been up to their old tricks
NTFC@2view at 8:15:7 Wednesday June 26 2002
Gery Adams represents Sinn Fein, an Irish political party, not the IRA - so it is a totally stupid question. Would I be happy to be sponsored by the Conservative Party? That's a tough one. Glad you're not a No Surrender man though. Lot of parallels between NI/Kosovo - although significant differences, but Political History seems to be the bent of lots of others that have suddenly appeared on our board since the appearance of GdS. Were they pro or anti Wilson, pro or anti Stonhill, or did they exist? I think I've had a reasonablr stab at answering your question, flawed though it was. Mine, below, are still unanswered. Here's another. Would you be happy to be taken over by the British Armament Industry that continues to sell weapons of mass destruction to both India and Pakistan, even though they ar still close to war? Work calls.

NTFC@2view - so how about answering my question. Would you take money from Gerry Adams & the IRA if it helped the Cobblers? yes or no?
NTFC@2view at 22:2:43 Tuesday June 25 2002
I never said that I condoned anything that was done by the Serbs or to the Serbs in the break up of Jugoslavia. I merely pointed out the errors of the previous poster. I don't really like sloppy arguments that give innuendo as fact by the simple practice of putting FACT after them. No-one has proved to me that GdS IS the international most wanted criminal that some say he is. And to shut me up you DO need to prove it to me. He is in London at the moment - allegedly. Why isn't he being arrested? He is defending Milosevic at the moment in The Hague - allegedly. Why isn't he on trial as well? Or does he get immunity? How do you stand on our Brave Lions playing in a football tournament with the US team whose forces have just killed thousands of innocent Afghans, or Turks who regularly kill Kurds, or Argentinians who score hand-ball goals?
Hotel Ender at 21:25:27 Tuesday June 25 2002
NTFC@view - are you seriously suggesting that because Kosovo is a "rump" of Yugoslavia - the Serbs had a right to kill, rape and pillage because it was part of their own country?? I know this gets off the point of the Cobblers - but this seems to me that the GDS supporters are willing to accept ANYTHING as long as we get the cash. Given your argument, you'd be quite happy if Gerry Adams & the IRA decided to launder its money with the Cobblers as long as we were in Division 1 in two years - mind you where would that leave the morons who sing "No Surrender!"???
NTFC@2view at 21:22:40 Tuesday June 25 2002
SPIN - what a stupid word. It is thrown around to describe something someone else believes but you do not. It is the direct opposite of FACT. "We'll be in the Conference" SPIN. "GdS is responsible for all evil in the world" FACT. Hypocrisy and bullshít! LH, I'm waiting for my answer. Suitably embarrassed you have no answer are you?

"Because if you had your way in 2 years time we will have a conference team to support AT BEST. " No spin there Mr Drilling Cobbler? I was under the impression that there are a lot of other clubs in our situation? Are we all going down to the Conference together? Last Christmas we were already in Div 3, remember? Judge GdS on his (lack of) merits alone, not on fear.

LH, Please can you describe a 'suitable person' - be specific, do not give examples. Describe their personality, their interests, their background, their wealth, their family etc. Perhaps then we can start speculating who the ideal person could be, and approach them with a proposal regarding purchasing NTFC. Because if you had your way in 2 years time we will have a conference team to support AT BEST.

LH. A person at last. Are you telling me that my logic is false in some way? Which part please? I'd like to know. Are you suggesting he would be suitable to own Peterborough United, for example? Again, are you basing your judgement on facts? Or innuendo? I believe he is in this country at present - at large. Why not try a citizen's arrest as you obviously feel so strongly?
LH at 17:32:13 Tuesday June 25 2002

LH at 17:14:36 Tuesday June 25 2002
NTFC@2view, I believe that when you look back at the logic of your augument you will be suitably embarrased. GDS is not a suitable person to own NTFC
NTFC@2view at 16:47:11 Tuesday June 25 2002
I believe you might find that Kosovo was(is) part of the rump Jugoslavia, as was Serbia and Montenegro. That's a bit like saying invading Wales is not invading Britain. And I suppose that if some other power were to bomb England you would not feel too bad about it as they would not actually be invading us.
Double Standards? at 16:45:19 Tuesday June 25 2002

which country? at 16:27:27 Tuesday June 25 2002
ntfc@2view, which country? Italy Serbia or the UK? anyway NATO did not invade Serbia for whom he held milatary rank. What it did was liberate Kosava to stop the ethnic cleansing, rape and torture of whole villages, or did you forget that bit. It may be patriotic to defend a homeland against invasion, but to defend butchery and mass murder on a scale unknown since the holocaust is not my idea of patriotism. Just the sort of bloke we want around the football club dont you think?

True, but not quite the same as Germany invading Poland. Anyway "his (Di Stefano's)country" is Italy according his posting on the NTFC message board.
NTFC@2view at 15:34:31 Tuesday June 25 2002
I don't think that promising to fight against invaders of 'his' country is very wrong. Quite patriotic really.

Drilling Cobbler '....German because they have invaded us twice....". I assume you mean the UK by 'us'. Unless you are counting various Germanic invasions from around 500-900ad - they have not invaded 'us' at all - France, Belgium, Holland, Poland, Hungary, Russia etc maybe - but not us! Please try to ensure historical accuracy in future posts.

No Standards at 12:10:32 Tuesday June 25 2002
Double standards that line from you "If he has made money from drugs, corruption and violence it doesn't matter anyway because it doesn't directly effect me" just about sums up the whole debate. Its no longer about what people think but more about those who dont think or dont know how to shouting the loudest like at the trust meeting. Your rant about shoes/chickens etc undermines your whole posting ie we kill animals so why not humans?, anyway I read in the Mail today that Battery Cages are to be banned
Double Standards? at 11:54:42 Tuesday June 25 2002
The arguments that there are worse people in the world than GDS and we are up the creek without money are enough for most fans. If he has made money out drugs, corruption and violence it doesn't matter anyway because it doesn't directly effect me - the fact that shoes are made from leather that comes from animals and we eat meat from chickens kept in shocking conditions makes all the ills of the world justifiable - It seems that there is no need to ask questions as long as we are not directly effected. Maybe when the lunatics finally take over the asylum you might then ask why.
publish the poll at 11:49:57 Tuesday June 25 2002
Sid can you publish the result of the poll and give your views as to how voting went as it is getting more and more difficult to get anything but slavish praise and spin from the official site, anything you can do would help a lot of people out in seeing what the real view is
he also at 11:38:2 Tuesday June 25 2002
he also held milatary rank in the serb army which fought against british troops in Kosova recently and was quoted as saying "the day that NATO enter into Kosova I will be the first at the front line" but hey, why let a little misdemenour like that get in the way of a cash windfall? I think that is the general attitude that prevails, as was said below some people would take the devils cash if it was on offer.
Sid at 11:33:15 Tuesday June 25 2002
I'm pretty sure you are wrong Drilling Cobbler - it may let you vote again after a certain number of days (not sure though - have to check that one out) and from the same PC, but that poll was left up there for quite a while. The day I should have taken it down saw that people were against GDS, and throughout the 3 weeks it was up it levelled out somewhat. I only had a few unsures - and whenever I vote i never lets me vote twice. Just for the record, I do live in MK, I don't like Wimbledon, and where is West Stand Dave!?!
The Drilling Cobbler at 10:34:35 Tuesday June 25 2002
..or buy a mcdonalds because they have helped fund the IRA. Or buy playboy magasine because of their unhealthy political relationship with the Labour party(One of many companies!) Do you eat meat? Do you hunt? Do you wear leather shoes? Do you have any wooden furniture? Every single one of us abuses our planets resources, so try not to be too selective. GDS has money - money that will be spent in ensuring that we still have a football team to support. Stop living in denial, and look forward to August 10th when hopefully we will have a decent team to watch beat Crew and get our campaign underway.
The Drilling Cobbler at 10:24:31 Tuesday June 25 2002
I am not suggesting Sids site is rigged, I am merely pointing out that you are able to vote as many times as you wish. I know because I have voted more than once and from the same pc! For the record, my votes were cast under the 'not sure' because at the time it was not completely apparant that Fash's bid had fallen by the wayside. It clearly has now hence why my stance has changed in GDS's favour. As for 20% 'anon' being in favour at the trust meeting, I would suggest that it is you attempting anti spin because it was clearly alot higher than that. I agree there may well have been alot of 'new' people at the meeting - I was one of them - because alot of people do not wish to associate themselves with a dictatorship! I used to sit on the exec committee myself in the early 90's shortly after the trust was formed. Nearly 10years have elapsed since then and still we hear the McRitchie story being brought up. Maybe we should not buy anything German because they have invaded us twice....

Anon at 7:59:5 Tuesday June 25 2002
Sid's site is NOT rigged. It sends you a cookie when you vote and doesn't allow you to vote again from the same PC. Of course, as with any internet poll there isn't anything to stop you voting from another PC, such as one at work, your friends, your brothers, your mums, the library, an internet cafe but if that's your idea of fun you don't deserve any hapiness.

drilling cobbler, what you mean is everyone at the back of the room at the trust meeting were pro gds and clapped when someone said "I would sell the club to the devil if he had the money" I sat about 1/3 back and only around 20% of the audience put there hands up when some bloke called an impromptu vote at the back, a lot of people felt uncomfortable, there were a lot of people at that meeting who I had never seen at a trust meeting before, and if sid sidwells site is rigged then are you saying the pro vote are not as switched on as the anti's I thought you could only vote once, any way last week the chron had a poll which asked GDS or Fash daft question as everyone knew Fash had gone walkabout, but guess what Fash won by about 70% to 30% not bad for abloke not even in the running. As for the official site open your eyes, the club can sign on as many names as they wish the chief spinmeister runs the site for god sake, and every post is followed by, "very good point you make there"

The Drilling Cobbler at 16:45:2 Monday June 24 2002
No options - firstly the poll on Sids site has little meaning because you can vote as many times as you wish. Secondly, how can you alledge that the official site is rigged when each entrant includes the total number of posts made by that person? Thirdly, at the trust meeting last week it was evident that the vast majority were 'for' the takeover - I spoke with around 8 people who I did not know beforehand and they were all for giving Di Stefano a chance. Also, every Cobblers supporter I have spoken with - a cross section of lifelong and more recent ones - are all pro. And finally, whos to say that the huge number of entrants on this board under names such as 'spin', no options, common sence etc are not one of the same person? The regulars on this board generally post under the same name(eg Childs view, NTFC&2VIEW etc) so I would have said it is quite likely that the anti brigade are no more than a handful of people with their own agenda's. I am only summising though like you...
United Front at 16:17:42 Monday June 24 2002
What are the other options open to us? If we don't have a major injection of money we will begin to slide towards the Conference, and even worse may not even have a club to support if we have a season like last one..
common sense at 15:58:30 Monday June 24 2002
maybe the answer then is to let GDS only buy half the club. you will see how well that goes down with stonhill and co. They say it is in the best interests of the club to sell to him but i bet they wouldn't want to mix their money up with his. Says it all really.
no options at 15:38:15 Monday June 24 2002
united front, the trouble is we do have other options its just that every one is scared to say what every one is thinking, this board and sid sidwells (whos poll by a tight margin showed that more were against the GDS takeover than for it) are the only place where you can have a debate, the official site is fixed and pro GDS because thats what Gareths been told to do, unless 80-90% were in favour and I can't see that happening then fans are split down the middle and far from looking bright the future looks divisive
United Front at 13:9:3 Monday June 24 2002
TCMP is entitled to his personal opinions, and if things go tits up he will be able to say I told you so, but isn't it equally possible that GDS will be a good thing for the club? Its all very well looking into the crystal ball and seeing bad things, but we have no option but to cross our fingers and hope that the future will be positive.

While I find Adam Sollitt's release strange given that Welchy has probably played his last game for the club, I also find his anti-Cobblers comments very odd. Does he really believe that he is better than KW?!!!! As for Welch, I have to say that having followed the Cobblers for the last 25 years or so, he id miles ahead of any other keeper we have had in that time. Andy Woodman probably second, I would say.

Still think he's a must, with Hargreaves and Hunt. I agree Hunter is all NTFC but the others have what we need. Bring on Crewe. Geez I'm bored
A Childs View at 8:6:35 Sunday June 23 2002
Just checked out the unreliable teamtalk - an article there lists Welchy as one of the players still to decide. Perhaps it was simply a clumsy bit of editing on the official site.

...any other team, you simply can't do that in matches when possession may change hands only 50 times. Sven - top priority for 2004!! C'mon the Town - let's get the bloody takeover sorted and start thinking about next seasons football rather than this other rubbish - its getting really tiresome!! You out of contract players - sign the bloody form, now!!!
A Childs View at 7:52:13 Sunday June 23 2002
...why can't TCMP defend this position and retain involvement with the club? It doesn't add up? Ray - can we have a bigger box to type in rather than just the one line? Could you also, say, triple the amount of space for a single post? It'll still stop those twats of old from doing loads of lines and make it much easier to type, read and avoid bad spelling and grammar!! See what you can do!!! Close season is so dull - even the world cup isn't a substitute. Watched England v Brazil whilst on hols in Florence - god are the Italians mad about the refereeing decisions that went against them!!! England were poor I felt, despite one good performance against the Argies. Sweden was awful, Nigeria a non-event and Denmark handed it to us on a plate. Against Brazil we played premiership style footy - when will we learn that at international level, and in the heat, you need to build slowly from the back and retain possession. England lost possession through long passes more than any other team....
A Childs View at 7:46:27 Sunday June 23 2002
...Welchy doesn't sign we need to get 2 keepers. I think we also need another centre half, 2 midfielders if no Hunt and Hargeaves and a winger - that's 5 more players. We could also do with taking a chance on a couple of younger cheapies like Asa again - that paid off and was Willo's best bit of business. Didn't Hodder say, "there is no reason why the deal won't be concluded before Friday (just gone)" - another example of missed deadlines and false promises. Why not say we hope the deal may go through but it could possibly take longer? The pro v anti GDS debate is getting tiresome. I don't think we have a choice so simply need to get on with it - does anyone know where some sensible information about GDS can be found. I particularly likes TCMPs comments, "If GDS buys the club I'll have to walk for personal reasons (dodgy political image) but its fine for the deal to go through." I'm confused, if GDS is ok for the club why not TCMP? If the GDS bid is morally sound, why can't TCMP.......
A Childs View at 7:38:15 Sunday June 23 2002
Good question M - that's exactly what I came on here to try and find out. I've searched a few websites and can't find the answer. I can only think this is a slip up - if he'd have signed we'd have been told (more season ticket sales) and the fact he isn't included in the three makes me think he's already fixed up with another club and we simply haven't been told yet. I could be wrong, we'll see. It looks like GDS is a certainty then - what happened to Fash? Can we have an official statement about about why that bid fell away - I much preferred the WWW option. If Fash was a timewaster can we have it stated - remember, a lot of time and effort went into the process over previous months - have the board simply impatient with the council and decided to go for the less complicated option without the ground? Signings so far seem ok, Lincoln, Stamp and Harsley - desperately want to see Hunt and Hargreaves sign. Sorry Roy - your a Cobblers hero but the other two are more important. If Welchy..

SPIN at 15:31:49 Friday June 21 2002
Nice thoughts Madrid Cobbler. I would add that buying players from Dundee immediately smells of "dodgy deal" to me. Doesn't that remind you of when Peter Johnson flogged Steve Simonsen from Tranmere to Everton (he owned both clubs) for a ridiculous £3 million? Also, are there not League rules about having an interest in other clubs if you have a controlling interest in a club?
Madrid Cobbler at 13:26:47 Friday June 21 2002
I am a Cobblers fan and will always be one as long as there is still a team to support, though I'll probably never feel exactly the same way about the club if the GDS deal goes through. It's clear that some people believe that the club is more important than any personal principles and have produced totally unconvincing defences of GDS past actions to try to justify it. Any money man may have been involved in a dodgy deal or two. To me that's a long way from the numerous, serious allegations and accusations against GDS. Whether or not these are all true, the sheer number of them (in at least 3 countries!!) must mean that the man's past is "seriously shady". Sorry, but I'd rather see the Cobblers in the Conference than sell to this man.

If there was an archive on the official site you could have a field day, comments like "just needs rubber stamping" and "Fash is coming next week, honest" and best of all " we will only sell if it is in the best interests of the club" also if the directors get their loans paid back by GDS will he pay back the £140,000 that the Trust have put in? My guess is that once he takes over and the cheques are in the bank, then the current board en-masse will join Tony Clark and keep well away from the new regime. Also now people have had their fill of trust bashing, they will need someone else to abuse, who's next I wonder?

Double Standards? at 13:6:28 Thursday June 20 2002
Not sticking up for Di Stefano but I think Stonhill said that he would also cover the ITV Digital shortfall. As for what else he would spend, again trying to be fair, I don't think any new owner would know until the season had started and it could be seen what additional players are needed (if any). Maybe "Mr Kevan" will work wonders with the players he has already got. I'm still very suspicious about the whole thing, Stonhill now can't sell quick enough and paints a very gloomy picture which tells fans its Di Stefano or nothing and (OK Fashanu is a waste of time but what about some of the other bidders, have they really all gone away just because the free foo, match ticketsd and booze stopped when the season ended (as suggested by Hodder). Fans are used to being treated like mushrooms by being kept in the dark and fed a diet of bullshit but this time its the sweet smell of money which is disguising the smell of the bullshit!

Double Standards - you've touched on a very important point there. Assuming that most people are good-hearted, it's funny how they throw all reason out of the window as long as there might be a bit of money at the end of it, or because they are afraid of what might happen if they don't do it. He's only promised so far to "comfortably cover the overdraft", which is £300 - £400K. Enough to save the club from relegation?

The Drilling Cobbler at 10:58:0 Thursday June 20 2002
Whats double standards about supporting a team but wanting that team to have money. People have a go at the Diamonds because there supporters were attracted by it - they did not exist before Max Griggs. An entirely different scenerio.
Double Standards? at 9:18:42 Thursday June 20 2002
Strange how many NTFC fans have had a go at Direones fans for "taking the Griggs Shilling" but are now happy to take the "Di Stefano Lire". Just goes to show how fickle people are. Tuesdays meeting was like watching The Simpsons, when people were just cheering or jeering what was popular. Even Richard "Max Wall" Page, who was described a reverend in the Chron was clapping the statement made by someone that they would accept the devil as chairman if he had enough money.
Hotel Ender at 8:30:46 Thursday June 20 2002
substitute the name GDS for McRitichie - there's very little difference in what has gone on now and then, ten/eleven years ago - Underwood desperate to sell, now Stonhill & Co desperate to sell. Where was GDS when he had the opportunity to allay fans' fears? - he couldn't make the meeting but sent a minion. Where was McRitchie when he had the opportunity? at a dinner/dance and he sent his minion Paul Clarke. Anyone noticing the similarities yet? And when all these people who are saying take GDS' money and to hell with everything else, where will you be when it all goes tits up?, as it surely will, you'll be on here moaning, saying "why doesn't somebody something"?? Hi Guys I thought I would let you know when we had Sugar take over at Spurs.....We to had no money, were on the verge of beleive it or not going into receivership and then the MASSIAH Alan sugar said he was interested in the club. $ years on ok we paid the debts off.......via companys that Sugar ALLEGED was to be involved with (so he wins always) He spent money yes.........but prices went up more then any other club (except Chelsea) and put limits on the manager. This is then he decided to sell once he had milked the club and everything else for his own use. On a smaller version guys you have to ask what this guy wants with your club? If he is anything like sugar you have to realise that money does not cure everything!!! I hope its not the same scenario but they comment about "once I have bought the club I will not step foot there again"............Thats like saying to a bank heres a million pound do what you want with it and mail me when you have done it!!..............I DONT THINK SO?

If Spin is really serious about his abandonment of the Cobblers then he obviously is not a loyal fan. Look into the business dealings of virtually every 'self-made millionaire' and you will find unsavoury skeletons in the closet. I find it laughable that a Labour MP - any MP come to that - can take the moral highground. This government does nothing but lie/spin. The Supporters Trust representative, MP Tony Clarke, said he would resign if the deal went ahead: "People have got their own views, I was at odds to explain my personal reasons for feeling uncomfortable staying on the board of a company with Mr di Stefano its owner, but I think it should take place if Mr di Stefano comes up with the cash.
The Drilling Cobbler at 21:33:46 Wednesday June 19 2002
On the official site, next to each post is the number of posts that person has contributed. To suggest that the club are making up posts is laughable to say the least. Maybe - just maybe - some people do not actually oppose the takeover and share your views? Is that possible? Surely not you are probably saying. The FACT is is that the vast majority of supporters are willing to give Di Stefano a chance to prove himself because the alternative is unthinkable. Regarding the post at 16:46, have you decided which team yet? Do you threaten to strike if a newly appointed manager is not someone of your choice? He's only going to be the bloody majority shareholder,ie the money man. Stop mixing politics and football and try supporting the team. Last nights meeting showed that there is a real devide now between the trust(exec committee) and the vast majority of supporters. They have now become a 'closed shop' and DO NOT represent the view of all supporters - just a small band of Tony Clarkes followers. We have no alternative - the club has been up for sale now 'officially' for 8 months and only one potential suggar Daddy is now involved in serious negotiations to invest. Page(who looked like the chairman of the football team in the comic strip 'Striker' out of the sun newspaper) answered all of the questions fielded to him, but admittedly avoided being to specific. As for people being scared to speak up in case they were sued, I did not get that impression at all - Tony Clarke for one claimed that his warrant for arrest was issued by the Suffolk police but could not substantiate it. Both Barry S and Di Stefanos representitives denied this. From where I was standing, I would have said that 90-95% were in favour of GDS.

Thanks for the feedback. Dissapointed I could not attend as I could of made my own mind up. The Boards opinon / defence seems to be that the best interests of the Club are served by selling to someone with the finances to secure the Club & take it forward and they could be correct in their assumtion. But in my opinion , from the information I have researched , GDS is not a suitable person to own a Football Club . But where do we go from here ? I t looks like it is a done deal , I believe the Trust should continue being a focal point for open debate & monitor & advise on how things develop and you cant do this from outside the boardroom . They need to act as vey much a non executive Director. With Fash I thought It would be a Roller Coaster adventure with GDS truly a walk into the unknown not knowing where we are going and by what means we will try to get there !

I went as well. If we had a choice we could make one, but its a case of any port in a storm. The Board will sell whatever the ballot says, interesting to see the official site makes absolutely no reference to Tony Clarke or Brian Lomax speaking. Accept the change, accept its a gamble, dont walk away.
feedback at 9:27:8 Wednesday June 19 2002
LH I went to the meeting TCMP did attend along with Barry Stonhill (Mr Barry) as GDS's people call him, There were mixed views, someone who went to school with GDS said dont go any where near him TCMP explained his personal reasons for not wanted to be involved, a guy called Page representing GDS (looked like Max Wall on speed) made an arse of himself) not a lot of questions were asked, I think most of the audience did'nt want to get sued, a good summary would be that a lot of people were uncomfortable but felt that we had no other option as we need his cash, some called for a show of hands, the chair said that would not happen as the Trust were in the middle of a ballot, so someone at the back called for one about 20% of those in the roomvoted in favour, the rest of the room took no part, I am in the we havn't got achoice camp, I am unhappy but feel we have run out of options, but agreeing with the comments below the spin put on it by the club on the official site is a disgrace.

after listening to gds's representitive at the trust meeting tonight, it dont seem as if it is tcmp that needs help, what was that bloke on about, the questions were asked but I am still none the wiser as to what the answers are, biggest issue was the number of silent people at the meeting trying to work out what the f&*k is going on, my view was that the pros had there say and the people with real concerns stayed silent because the club needs the money no matter how dirty it is

You are still being wise after the event. Had he scored about 20 goals for the first 2 seasons he would have paid for himself. You, of course, were one of those who were strongly anti his signing when it was announced - I remember your postings. Many of the rest of us remembered him against us around Boxing Day and were excited at the prospect of him partnering Jamie, without knowing, as you did, that it would all go wrong. I'm also horrified to find that our club is losing money. Of all the clubs in the Prem and Nationwide, we're the only one doing so. Perhaps if we played better football, scored more goals and got crowds that a town of this size should get, we might make a few pounds.
NTFC@Awaiting Inspiration at 12:48:44 Sunday June 16 2002
Fuzzy logic. I suggest a two year contract is more than long enough for a player who is 30+. NTFC@2view translates that into me predicting the demise of ITV Digital. Bizarre!
NTFC@Awaiting Inspiration at 12:47:1 Sunday June 16 2002
What's the ITV money got to do with it? The club was losing money BEFORE all this. Handy to blame ITV when we were at least £1 million in debt prior to that saga. And why did he end up at Darlington in the first place? Because he had lost his pace (and some would argue, desire) and Division 3 is clearly his level! This club should never be buying 30+ year olds on the way down. At least Broadhurst is wise enough to know that.
NTFC@2view at 11:41:42 Sunday June 16 2002
That was his highest achievement was it? Darlo I mean. He hadn't been anywhere alse and scored? He didn't, for example, average a goal every 3 games BEFORE his Darlington episode? (450 games 150 goals). I'm surprised you aren't employed by the club with your uncanny ability to know the exact moment that a player has passed his usefulness to us. And how you were able to forecast that the ITV money would dry up with still a year to go on Gabbi's contract - well, you amaze me! (Win the lotto last night again I suppose? Perhaps you could buy the club now.) Clown.
NTFC@Awaiting Inspiration at 10:31:26 Sunday June 16 2002
"continued his previous scoring record"...that was in Division 3. And was he really going to get better at 30? A two year deal would have been enough.

NTFC@2view at 9:3:14 Sunday June 16 2002
About my 'name'. I started on a board - later to become 2 view - and chose NTFC as my name so I didn't have to keep answering 'what team?' queries. When I started on here I used my same name, plus 'at 2view'. It písses me off that people change 'names' so I've kept it. As to, in particular, Gabbi. If he'd continued his previous scoring record, you would never have queried his pay - and you set the salary BEFORE the signing, not at the end of a season or two. And 'greedy' is not asking for a wage and getting it. That's probably what Roy Hunter is being - 2 years on wages without a kick and now not accepting his present offer.

And then there was Zimmer's 2 year deal "for services past". The decision not to insure certain players against injury. And GDS is apparently happy to let these guys carry on in some capacity! Instead of squandering hundreds of thousands, we'll start squandering a few million instead HUH? And still we won't have a ground.

There certainly is no smoke without fire. You only need to look at the furore caused at Norwich when di Stefano started buying up shares and threatening a takeover. Now explain how being owned by somebody like this can be in the best interest of NTFC. I would rather see us in the Conference and still be able to say with pride that I'm a loyal NTFC supporter. Di Stefano is not a suitable person to own a Football club.

Madrid Cobbler at 16:2:28 Friday June 14 2002
Haven't posted for a long time, but also agree with LH about GDS deal. Some say innocent until proved guilty, but how about "no smoke without fire". Unless convincing arguments are forthcoming the Cobblers will justifiably be seen as moneygrabbers and any further criticism from us of R&D, Premiership, ITV, etc could be interpreted as pure hypocrisy.
LH at 16:1:55 Friday June 14 2002
Taking GDS past history out of the equation , and in my opinion thats not easy. Why is it in the best interest of the Club to be sold to someone who a) Doesnt want the club to own its own ground. b) doesnt want any involvement ie: no interest. c) Has not indicated (as far as i'm aware) waht money will be invested & how it will be spent to take the Club forward.
Anon at 15:54:54 Friday June 14 2002
Its certainly in the best interests of the club to be sold and if GdS is the only offer on the table then it must be in the best interst to sell to him?
LH at 14:56:43 Friday June 14 2002
Richard , you will note from my posting that I dont blame the Directors for selling , it is easy for me to waffle on when I'm not the one owed a lot of money or backing loans. LH at 12:50:46 Friday June 14 2002
On my understanding of the current situation I cannot see how selling to GDS is in the ' best interests of the club'. If the board believe it is ,and this is the reason why they want to sell ,then they should explain how the takeover will benefit the club. I can see how it will benefit the Directors ,being relieved of the NTFC millstone , and dont blame them for this but I think a bit more honesty & transparency would help people make there own mind up. IMHO it just does not add up. A buyer with ,at the least unsavoury , at the worst criminal & disgusting background wants to buy the club and not even watch a game. It's got the logic of the madhouse - at least Fash had a business plan.I really have a bad feeling about GDS. I would rather struggle on for years and feel that it is still our club than sell our soul & dance with the devil. After all it is only a game .

Our Argie bashing rightwing fans wont like this. A new attempt is being made to bring the British Government before the European Court of Human Rights over the sinking of the General Belgrano during the Falklands conflict. A lawyer for the parents of two of the Argentinian sailors killed has filed a new case with the court in Strasbourg. Lawyer Giovanni Di Stefano claims that application was lost on a technicality because it failed to state which relevant law the attack had violated. Mr Di Stefano also said he didn't rule out a private prosecution against three people he described as the "war cabinet" which would include the then Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. "I am not saying she should be jailed, but I think everyone should apologise to everyone else," he told Ananova. The General Belgrano was sunk on May 2, 1982, resulting in the loss of 323 Argentinian lives. We have a lot of dead people here and no one seems to be bothered. The parents want to know why the ship was attacked."

I hope Hunt, Hargreaves and Welch sign - Roy's a Cobblers hero but of the 4 the least important. 2 midfielders signed - makes me think we'll lose at least one of Hunt or Hargreaves - we'll see.

A note about Harsley - he managed to score 11 goals playing for the worst side in the country. History repeats itself, we make a couple of pre-season signings and I make the mistake of getting excited about the new season again - someone talk some sense into me please, an optimist is always disappointed!!!

From Hodder's last release on the official site it will be GDS who takes over - where has Fash gone? Was he just a timewaster? I'd have much preferred this bid because it also tied the ground in. New signings are of the right ilk - younger players who you would assume are hungry for it. Anyway, the proof for any player will be in the pudding and I refuse to speculate about the genius behind close season signings - lets see what they do! I'm pleased Sammo has signed but fear 2 years may be a little generous - echoes of Frain again, I've always defended John as worth his place, however, this season will be even tougher for him and then one more for Sammo - may be a bridge too far!

I can't remember a time when anyone was stopped from expressing a view, and if you turn up I am sure the floor would make sure you are heard, but will you answer the questions that you have so far failed to answer on the official board or just dismiss them as silly? your lack of answers to eastsider hardly put you in a good light did it?
GDS at 10:8:52 Wednesday June 12 2002
OK I agree "who's the twat now?" but who are you debating? You obviously sit on the floor and not in the Executive who answers your questions? The Trust? who gives an opposite view? You? Democracy requires more than one side or opinion you are very silly and naive

But Ortus Di Stefano is a politician, and stood for election as an MEP for a right wing party in Italy, so by your own admission we shouldn't get involved with him right? Drilling Cobbler good post, at least it moves the debate onto the "we know he is wrong but is there any other option" rather than we all think he is a nice chap, ntfc@2view your comments would read better if it were not for the fact that not guilty folk rarely have so much posted against them from so many different sources, has he been unlucky or do people dislike him for a reason, if he is innocent why would so many people go to the trouble of discrediting him? oh one other thing if he wont attend games knows nothing about football etc why on earth does he want to buy the club and for what purpose? for someone who doesn't even know the offside rule is it not strange behaviour to try to buy 1st Dundee then Norwich and now the cobblers what is his purpose?
ORTUS at 19:12:29 Tuesday June 11 2002
The proposed takeover is a business deal between GDS and the current board, it is courteous of the club to keep us fans abreast of developments and nice that GDS wants to put 2 trust members on the board. However, it is a business deal first and foremost and really has sod all to do with us . So lets stop slagging GDS off and see what he does. Who are we to judge him on his clientel ,this has nothing to do with the football club, Tony Clark should know better than to say he will resign from the board if GDS takes over,i always thought that we should not mix politics with sport. Lets be patient and pray for a better season to come.
NTFC@2view at 18:55:58 Tuesday June 11 2002
"ANSWERS at 18:21:53 Tuesday June 11 2002". Since when do people have to prove they are innocent? The 'antis' post things like, "He was charged with...." and when asked if he was found guilty they post, "He was charged, FACT". I can just see the 'news items' that might be found. "Di Stefano not guilty of napalming Vietnamese villagers", "Di Stefano innocent of instigating WWII", "Di Stefano fed his neighbours cat last week". Things like that are often to be found on the Net.
The Drilling Cobbler at 18:53:25 Tuesday June 11 2002
Response to 'answers' - Like you., I have concerns but the question really is 'can the club overlook all of his history because of the money involved?' I believe that the answer to this is yes because as I posted yesterday, turning him down would surely gaurantee us conference status in 2/3 years time, subject to Broadhurst continuing to work miricles. No one else appears to be prepared or able to invest the sort of money into the club in order to take it forward, therefore surely accepting his offer is indeed in the best interests of the club - at least in the short term. Without investment, we will very soon be the 2nd team in the county as well as having to compete with 1st div/premiership football in Milton Keynes. NTFC is an institution - no one person can damage its reputation in the long term, think back to 1992 when all of its creditors were stitched up due to administration. Without GDS's money, history could repeat itself.

one way that the pro GDS lobby could do their cause some good is to stop moaning at messages that file GDS stuff from the net and try and find any good reports and post them, if there are any it will give balance if their are not any then we will know the truth. As someone in the undecided but wary camp I am leaning towards saying no to GDS because all the pro GDS camp seem to do is critisize others without putting up any reasoned arguement to the contrary. If its simply that money talks and that we will take any money whatever its source then say thats your view but please don't try to hide behind sofa and simply say its not true i'm not listening

found these GDS qoutes regarding the take over of the fotball club 1) "I do not want to be involved in the technical side of the club. I know nothing about football. I dont even know what the offside rule is." 2) "if these plans dont come off call me a liar in huge print and on the front page" 3) "I expect and anticipate that I will be the owner of the club very soon, it will be done very quickly"....sound familiar? trouble is this is not GDS circa NTFC message board but GDS talking about Dundee in 1999, the quotes are almost identical. Also interesting was his view on deadlines having said "I'll buy Dundee in Days" the Scottish Daily Record printed 2The Deadline for the buy-out of Dundee Football Club ran out last night" Mr Di Stefano said "Deadlines are only for NATO"

One more thing - next weeks trust meeting should be pretty interesting. I cannot recall a time when feelings have been running so high concerning a Cobblers matter. Let us not forget that we all have the interests of the club at heart. Opinions may vary, but they are all justifiable but from different angles. My own stance is still very much 'middle of the road' - I am neither totally for or totally against Di Stefano becoming involved. I look forward with much anticipation to next weeks meeting when hopefully England will be safely in the quarter finals!

Facts - what would you do with the cheque(ref my post 17:33)? I hear what you say, like some other contributors to this board, you have been searching the web looking for evidence to prove that Di Stefano is a 'wrong un', but the simple 'fact' is is that he he walking the streets in this country free and he is still allowed legally to continue practicing his chosen profession. Unlike Harold Shipman if he was ever to be released from prison. His military involvements in the past - wether true or false - also have no bearing on wether he is suitable or not to be the clubs new owner. Otherwise we would still hate all Germans/Argintinians/Iranians/Japanese etc. I am trying to judge the man on his standing today - the past as they say is history. I will reiterate that I am sure our current board will conduct enough research before selling him the shares. I am still skeptical but the only alternative is the conference in 2/3 seasons time.

Drilling Cobbler, this is the sort of thing that you can find on the web about Di Stefano - OK anyone can post anything on the web but there are lots of items on different sites it may not all be true but it makes you think. - At least two more Western European countries have Raznatovic in their files: Raznatovic and his partner Carlo Fabianni (known to Serbian public as Giovanni Di Stefano, a businessman) committed three armed robberies and twelve burglaries. Fabianni was arrested, but when he appeared before the court, Raznatovic stormed into the courtroom carrying two guns, like in a low-budget thriller. One he used to threaten the Swedish judge and tossed the other one to Fabianni. Both of them escaped through the window. Italy also knew him well: at the very beginning of his criminal carreer, the Italian police filed two attempted thefts, July 10th 1972, and September 14th 1973, after which there was an arrest warrant for Zeljko Raznatovic

Doubts - Out of interest could you define them? Explain why you have them and then maybe your posts would have more point to them. Are they concerns attached tou NTFC, or are they moral 'I dont want his money' ones? If tomorrow morning you open your post and in one of the envelopes their is a cheque of £100,000 from Mr Di Stefano, are you going to bank it or burn it? If it is true that this man is willing to ensure our future survival in the football league, then what is the problem in giving him a chance? Cherie Blair has defended some scum in her time, what are your views on her husband being our prime minister? Mcdonalds used to fund the IRA but are you saying that neither yourself or your family has ever eaten a Big Mac? Share your views and justify them, rather than try to patronise people whose views are different from your own.

Piss off to Rushden, you won't be missed. And as for the daughter bit, what pathetic nonsense.
doubts at 16:24:14 Monday June 10 2002
Drilling cobbler read your own posts "every single person I know who follows our club" "every single person" must include your friends no matter how small their number, and as for your morals, you have none to question " my view is that the silent majority are generally happy to give the man a chance"?deciding the views of those who havn't spoken is hardly the behaviour of a democrat is it? as for pro/anti postings and anominity given that Di Stefano himself has posted over 30 times on the official site how do we know that a lot of the "give him a chance " crap on this board has'nt come from the man himself?
JDT at 16:9:58 Monday June 10 2002
"Most cobblers fans gloating at Rushden about 'history'. Now one character with a controversial past promises them the earth and they'll gladly trade their once-sacred history!" Are we trading our history? Trading it for what? And as for people saying we are suddenly on our way to the prem, I am yet to see one person who seriously believes that, (at the moment any way) . I dont think we are on our way to the prem, but I do now think we have a chance of staying up this season!
The Drilling Cobbler at 16:3:22 Monday June 10 2002
Doubts - where in my last entry did I suggest that I had only canvassed my friends about the matter? I wrote 'people I know' - ie, loose associates such as people down the gym, people I have come accross in pubs etc. Most of my friends are not actually Cobblers supporters, but out of those who are informed and who understand/like football in general, they too feel that it can only improve our current standing. Do not question my intelligence or my morals - you do not know me - but then again I doubt you know Mr Di Stefano either! As for my own doubts, they are generally doubts I would have of any new prospective owner. Unfortunately hinesight is not available, however with the current level of funding available I see no other option available. My view is that the silent majority are generally happy to give the man a chance, I reiterate I have yet to come face to face with anyone who shares your own excessively strong anti views. I trust Hodder & co to make the right decision.

NTFC@2view. "So what's wrong with prostitutes?" You got a daughter? How much? Oh, but that's different.......
So.... at 15:20:29 Monday June 10 2002
doubts at 15:6:57, good post but you see the contradiction? Most cobblers fans gloating at Rushden about 'history'. Now one character with a controversial past promises them the earth and they'll gladly trade their once-sacred history! Anyone who thinks we're suddenly on our way to the Premier on the back of a few promises should look at the history of our own club and just about every other club in the second and third division. Not to mention GDS' own history.
So.... at 15:10:26 Monday June 10 2002
OK forget about the history bit. I'm going to base my support purely on future prospects. Anyone else going to Irthlingborough? NTFC@2view you clown! Always arguing for argument's sake. You don't even see the contradictions in what you write!
doubts at 15:6:57 Monday June 10 2002
so everyone has there doubts but nobody is prepared to speak out through fear of upsetting the great saviour, any money will do from anyone, the only prostitution being purpotrated here is that of the club over 100 years of local history sold out to whoever can pay the current directors their loans back, drilling cobbler I am not surprised that all your friends agree with you, lets just say "like minds" and be done with it. NTFC@2 view, I dont think you would know a fact if it hit you between the eyes, just thank your lucky stars you do not live in Serbia or else you may think differently of GDS, rather a crap club in the 2nd or 3rd than the leper of the nationwide league, and as for posting anonomously are you not doing the same? The only public views on this have come from GDS, Barry Stonhill and Tony Clarke its about time the debate was widened

NTFC@2view at 14:48:30 Monday June 10 2002
Look here 'ashamed of your spelling and punctuation', the articles were almost all by the same person posting unsubstantiated 'gossip' without a proven fact. He almost certainly wasn't a Cobblers supporter but someone with a political agenda of his own. So what's wrong with prostitutes? It's not as if they're solicitors!! Or estate agents. You get what you pay for. As for you 'so' - are you sure you're not 'ah so' - or something sounding like it? The man said he didn't want to remain a crap club and you tell him to look at the past. He's talking about and looking to the future you dim sod!
The Drilling Cobbler at 14:25:40 Monday June 10 2002
to put 'their money where their month is', openly discuss his plans on the web, give out his phone number and e-mail address to those who wish to speak with him directly, whilst at the same time probably saving us from almost certain relegation next season. Beyond that is almost unimaginable. I can confidently say that the'anons' who come on this site bleating about his so called crimes have never dared speak with him directly about their concerns, and in many cases are probably not even Cobblers supporters. Every single person I know who follows our club seems to be of the opinion that providing his intentions are honourable, the way he earns his living is of no relevance providing it is legal and he does not bring the club into dispute. Like most, I too have my own doubts about him, but I am prepared to give him a chance and my support until he gives me reason not to. So far he has given me every reason to believe that success may well be just around the corner.
The Drilling Cobbler at 14:16:30 Monday June 10 2002
The club has now been officially up for sale for some 8months and unofficially for an eternity. One by one we with have seen prospective investers gain and lose interest, yet many people insist that the club should stay totally clear of the one and only person who is seemingly prepared to invest a large sum of money into the club. Whilst I do not have blind confidence of the law system in this country, I do have enough to feel that if Di Stefano was the 'scum character' and some suggest he is, he would probably no longer have his freedom and would certainly not be able to practice his profession. We have all read about his alledged antics on the web, heard ramblings from the trust and in paricular Tony Clarke, and the various concerns of a number of supporters. But lets not forget that the man is of local origon, is worth 300million pounds, and wants to spend some of it on the cobblers! Regardless of what our opinions of the man are, there is no one else at this stage who seems willing
So... at 13:28:37 Monday June 10 2002
haha that's brilliant "some of us dont want the club to remain a crap 2nd/3rd div club!". Take a look at the club history? You're supporting the wrong team.
Anon at 12:43:21 Monday June 10 2002
Turning a blind eye, showing a yellow streak? Dont tar all of us with the same brush, some of us actually wanted GDS to takeover, some of us dont want the club to remain a crap 2nd/3rd div club!
ashamed at 12:22:22 Monday June 10 2002
so gds gets the cobblers for a song and cobblers fans show their yellow streak by raising nothing but a wimper. iremember reading this board a few weeks ago when article after article denounced gds and his life history, now it seems we are all trying to make out its not there. dont worry when it all turns nasty the same wankers who heap praise on gds will soon condemnn him, they will probably also blame the trust for not speaking up, turning a blind eye is the cowards way out, I shall go to the trust meeting next week and make my view known publically. GDS NOT IN MY NAME
Andre Drazen at 11:54:52 Monday June 10 2002
I don't take kindly having mine and my brother's business dealings debated on here. If GDS cannot succeed for us, he wil be dealt with. Remeber waht happened to Kevin Carrol? We have a contingency plan. Also, if someone could tell me where Bauer and Senator Plamer are it would save my brother and I a lot of displeasure.
So.... at 11:39:14 Monday June 10 2002
If everyone took the same attitude as the Cobblers, there would be prostitutes all over the streets. "Don't care if it's dirty money because we're broke!" Go and dance with the devil and see where it gets you. Respect isn't on that list.

AH-SO at 9:26:14 Monday June 10 2002
Helen, you assume that cobblers fans are just average and not able to rise out of the shit that others swim in, seems to me that the right wing tendancy that exists at Sixfields are having this there own way whilst decent people with a consciounce stay silent, well its time to stand up and be counted, i dont want our club taken over by a fascist with blood on his hands and in his wallet, even the poll on trivals net shows a split over the Di Stefano bid, supporters can't close their eyes in the hope that they can speak after the act and say oh dear! I wish we had been told. so cum on real cobblers fans stand up and be counted or swim in a pool of shite its up to you

So - You assume that the average football fan will understand the connotations if Di Stefano buys in. Most won't care and those with right-wing tendencies (and I don't mean Tom Finney) will be sorry he hasn't bought in to their club. Most hated club in the country will continue to be Man U, most hated club in the county will continue to be the village people, most hated club in the UK will continue to be Cardiff. So, SO - What's your point?

When Fabiani was taken into the courtroom, Arkan and Kostovski reportedly helped him escape by firing several gunshots at the guards.
