Yes..very interesting article in News of the World today. Not sure where we are going with the supposed take over but what worries me is the "secret deal" allowing Wimbledon to play at Franklins Gdns next season.( in todays paper). Where would that leave us? More sensible debate on here please.

Gary Hodder is trying to do his best to move the club forward and tells us that things are progressing with regard to the takeover of the club but says that he cant tell us anything due to confidentiality clauses which the mysterious interested parties wish. So why is it that every tabloid and broadsheet newspaper tell us that Bryan Richardson is denying any connection with the club in the Times , and that in the News ofThe World Bryan Richardson and Justin Fashanu HAD an interest but do not anymore . If all deals are off then put us out of our misery or keep us informed and stop letting us build our hopes up, because i for one would be gutted to think that my beloved club will not be saved or had a chance to become a good first division club in time , so please can we have the truth even if you cant tell us their names,at least tell us if there are any people to guess the names of.

Nooo - DR4E is back, we've not missed you at all so go away again please. Talk of clubs going out of existence with the ITV Digital stuff causing very serious concern is sick, you are a disgrace to football. The KB contract is very weird and makes me suspicious that the takeovers have all failed. Any purchaser now has an extra liability to pay off if they want their own man in. How long has it been since we've had an update? Good performance against Bury and I'm pleased County beat Bournemouth, it looks the Cobblers and County in with the best chance. Off to Reading tomorrow, any sort of result would be great. Warburton at Boston - he's still the greatest.

DR4E came on this site at 16.46 on Sat so he must be a loyal supporter at Mansfield. Ive just been watching the highlights show and their support looked pitiful considering that they are now in a play off place. Is Mansfield really that far???

HELLO S MAN
NTFC@2view at 16:56:42 Friday March 29 2002
Did you expect Broadhurst, knowing he had little or nothing to spend, to say "This squad is a load of crap" after he took over? He was just trying to 'talk them up' a bit. 'Where will Broadhurst take us?' Where do you expect us to go? If we are not taken over, this is about as good as it gets - unless we don't go out of business like many will. Don't expect too much then, things won't seem so bad.
re:- United Counties at 16:52:40 Friday March 29 2002
What? 4,000 of catch the bus then? That's sensible. tw*t.
DEK at 13:44:9 Friday March 29 2002
Anon, I know that Broadhurst has not been able to bring new players in but this squad was supposedly the best we had had for years. he said they we more than good enough to stay up. We were 3rd from bottom when he took over not adrift at the bottom. Where do you really think Broadhurst will take us. This club is going from bad to worse. Those that are 'interested' in buying the club are not interested in the club at all. If they were 100% genuine then they would have taken over and sorted the council out afterwards, or at least helped with a deposit or goodwill jesture to lift the embargo. They only really want the real estate, the land.!!!.
PATTCOBB at 13:16:3 Friday March 29 2002
Are the f*cking borough rubbing salt into our wounds by allowing a funfair in the car-park tonight, is that their preferred use of the site?...........
Anon at 13:5:38 Friday March 29 2002
DEK - give Boradhurst a break. No money, not even able to bring a player in on loan, no-one he can sell to raise cash, let's face it he inherited the squad and the shit street we were in from Wilson, who's hardly set the world alight since he left. And Broadhurst has got us off the bottom where we were hoplessly adrift and out of the bottom four. I'd say that's a reasonable achievement that even Alex Ferguson would be proud of. If you are the quality of debate on CC2 then I'll stick around here. If we're going to criticise anyone, criticise those tossers at NBC who cannot run a piss up in a brewery and no doubt have cleared off for a couple of weeks over the school hols on a camping holiday in North Korea, paid for by the taxpayers under some sort of "fact finding mission" ruse.

What a sad state of affairs the smaller clubs are in thanks to greed of the bigger clubs. Why can't the big clubs help out a bit and instead of paying some Italian or Argie £60,000 a week!!!

NTFC@2view at 22:1:8 Wednesday March 27 2002
So FACT - what a brilliant name - you have stayed at home. How have you saved football by doing that? The cost of everything has gone up. Do you stop eating bread now it's 18s 9d a loaf? I used to earn £9 a week. Would you work for that now? Your friend Mrs Thatcher is responsible for all this - FACT! If we'd all stayed at home like you, the Cobblers would be in the Prem now by your logic. Your rhymes are quite good for a working class poet, I suppose.

well said FACT. The people on here chat about football without realising the bubble is going to burst. Ostriches the lot of 'em. I too refuse to go to the games to sit next to fans who do not sing, swear of fight. I cannot wait till they have no club to go to. David Beckham will drive past the and giggle at these idiots who have made him wealthy. Cobblers fans, go back to golf and the Guardian. Leave footy for the lads.
FACT at 19:59:37 Wednesday March 27 2002

Only idiots go to the games to sponsor greed, corruption and blatant stupidity. I will belly laugh when clubs all declare themselves bankrupt. You lot have ruined the game. I have read below that we need to throw money at tnew players. Empty stadiums for empty heads. I am a football fan and I have seen the game totally destroyed by greed. The new football fan has detroyed the game. These advocotes of paying players obsene amounts...how dare you! Give the game back to the working classes
A Childs View at 19:56:22 Wednesday March 27 2002
This Frain bashing is getting beyond a joke now - bunch of bloody bandwagonners, leave him alone!! He's been delaying a groin operation for 2 months to give the squad some more depth during the run-in. The man is true Cobblers and deserves more than the abuse he gets on here. I'm anxious about tomorrow - will we still have Jamie, Welchy, Hunt, Hargreaves and Asa for the rest of the run in? I wouldn't be surprised to see some go given the financial state of the club. No reason to expect anyone in of course! The ITV Digital story is a shocker - I'm one of the few who have it and think the ITV Sport Channel has been bloody brilliant, its just a shame Sky's monopoly seems as though its going to win. That said, if the ITV Dig issue causes the collapse of just one club I'll have to cancel my subscription in protest. I know this won't help, but, the company is going down the gurgler anyway so football fans have to make a point - the bubble is close to bursting it would seem!!
Excuse me NTFC@2view at 19:40:19 Wednesday March 27 2002

NTFC wots the point in going backwards???????????????????? Do we really need a load of Paul Wilkinsons out there???? We've had some decent players come in before now in a completely unstable club we'd just get real dross, not half decent players. Is Parkin a journeyman. is Hargreaves, is Hunt, is Forrester, is Hope, is Burgess, was Howard, is Hunter?????? Stop getting up my nose cos u've had a bad day you goon.
NTFC@2view at 16:23:35 Wednesday March 27 2002
"my only concern over the summer would be us ending up with a load of donkey journeymen that are no better than we've got now" What crap! Who do you think we'll get? Thierry Henry? Michael Owen? We are a donkey journeyman club AT BEST. If we're not taken over we'll probably get no-one, because we probably won't be around. "GIVE THEM NEW CONTRACTS NOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" More brilliance. Contracts are not GIVEN, they are PAID.

yeah in time sollitt will be a good keeper, i think his confidence will need rebuilding after some of his clangers this year he needs to learn to open his mouth and command his area too. my only concern over the summer would be us ending up with a load of donkey journeymen that are no better than we've got now. if the takeover is still dragging on then who'll want to come to us apart from players other clubs don't want and are desperate for a contract anywhere. might not be a big problem in the third but if we're still in the second............

In fact North stand there are plusses and minuses, I assume that if we do sell enough season tickets we will lift the embargo and do to the nature of football at the moment, be able to pick up any amount of free transfers in the summer so the board would not be too worried about losing players in the summer and nor would I, the problem is as you say how many will depart this week as our board cash in on certain out of contract players. I know Keith Welch is a betting man (I see him in Towcester bookies quite often) what odds could he get on himself moving on or before Thursday ? Wouldn't mind giving Sollitt a go at the start of a new season, but not at the critical end of this current one......
T. at 13:45:2 Tuesday March 26 2002
i am back! computer dead, other news, moving from sunny irthlingborough to even sunnier northampton, close to the cobblers old home at the county ground, yipee!!!!
North Stand Just at 13:30:4 Tuesday March 26 2002
Pattcobb don't worry about the teamtalk article. Every single prospective buyer of the club would have been well aware of the situation with the ground in the first place. Two of the bids aren't apparently too concerned about even getting sixfields. Unfortunately one of these is supposed to be Richardson who got Coventry £30 million in debt. I think we should be more worried about the possibility of losing Welch, Hargreaves, Forrester and Hunt on Thursday instead.
PATTCOBB at 13:12:48 Tuesday March 26 2002
I would also suggest that if we are NOT taken over between now and the start of the season we would be far better starting off in division three than in division two!!!
PATTCOBB at 13:10:35 Tuesday March 26 2002
If we could stop all the pathetic bickering on these pages for just a minute, a quick look on TEAMTALK would appear to present us with a major problem re the sale of the club. Its a fact despite the club denying the fact that its very much possible that we won't have a club to bicker about at the start of next season.
North Stand Just at 9:51:41 Tuesday March 26 2002
Oregan I kind of agree with you........i think Marsh would be a cracking wingback for us. If we're shipping goals though playing three central defenders don't make sense as you end up with gaps down the channels that will constantly exploited by anyone with a bit of pace up front. Wasn't this one of the reasons we were all screaming for Wilson to go 4-4-2 in the first place. I also heard that Frain is the reason that the council are dragging their feet over the sixfields pricing!!!!!!!!!!!!! Quick question: Is Sixfields insured if it is there must be a value on it and that would have been available from the outset of this debacle.
NTFC@2view at 7:41:5 Tuesday March 26 2002
STOP WORRYING. John Frain won't be in the team much longer as he is about to be arrested for being 32. This has just been made a crime. Oh, by the way, he is also suspected of being the real leader of the al Qaeda network. FACT.

Those were the days when Acky ran his coaches from the town hall, it was all `lads' and loads of beer and great times, there was no coach watch, the Police were watching them though. Great days!!!
Oregon Cobbler at 2:30:59 Tuesday March 26 2002
It's a sad fact that Frain's presence in the side coincides with slumps in form. If 8 or 9 players are out of contract, isn't it worrying that Frain's not one of them? It's also very revealing to listen to Gareth's matchday commentary from afar: the worst players for conceding possession by a mile are Frain and McGregor. I may also be condemned as a heretic but I don't think Sammo he is the commander of defence he once was and even before I left the UK last November I felt he'd failed to develop an understanding with Burgess or Hope this season. The stats really do speak for themselves with almost two goals a game conceded. The lack of pace at the back is worrying - almost as much as up front. Revert to a Hope, Sammo, Burgess back 3 with two wing backs, but not Frain.

Re the comments about the number of buses, I would like to make it clear that I do not post anonomously. That is for saddo's who do not have the courage of their conviction. Further more if you lok back you will see that I have only ever responded to the garbage put forward by the Andrew and his cronies. If they don't want a response I suggest they don't post anything in the first place. Incidentally, I have the greatest respect for the hard work put in by Barry & Jenny in running their travel club and I would be more than happy if we could pool our resourses and run one travel club for the good of the Football club and the supporters. I am sure Barry, who renews his trust membership every year feals the same. So can I suggest we stop the childish "we got more than you comments" and I and others will not feel it neccesay to respond.

now be fair,it is possible that young Andrew may not be responsible this time for starting the we took more than you did crap. It could easily have been some other sad wanker from the sixfields committee or just one of their misguided customers. the amount they took with them is irrelevant, the fact is we had a full coach who enjoyed a good day out with a great pub stop with excellent food, good beer and the Fa Cup tie live on the Tv. Much better than a stop at the services and arrival at the ground at 13:40hrs i would think.

RUBBER DUCK at 19:0:31 Thursday March 21 2002
Its all very well N.T.F.C flogging season tickets off early to see us through till the end of the season, perhaps some of the summer aswell, but come aug/sept next season if a deal is not done on the sale of the club, then we will have another P.F.A. embargo on us as we will be skint again!
Vince at 12:42:8 Thursday March 21 2002
Broadhurst has already said that he does not want to bring in any new players even if the embargo was lifted and I suppose thats partly because he wouldn't have the funds to bring in enough players to make a difference. The squad that we have now is probably as likely to save us from the drop as any other squad we could realistically field and at least the current squad have something to prove. Bringing in new players with only 6 games left is likely to unsettle the side rather than improve it. Having said that lets hope that we don't end up with a mass of injuries!

This is a scoop I got from an old colleague, you heard it here first.Kidderminster manager Jan Molby is looking to sign Northampton goalkeeper Keith Welch to cover Stuart Brock's two-match suspension following his sending off against Luton on Saturday.Molby said "We are looking to the future and Keith is one of the best lower division Keepers around. He can help us for the next 3 Seasons and that is the sort of deal we are looking at.We have a good young 18 year old who would certainly benefit from his experience"Ex Bristol City Keeper Welch has been linked with a number of Clubs as his contract runs out at the end of the Season and has been quoted as saying that "whilst it's been interesting at Northampton Town" he is looking for a, "quieter time between the sticks" and "Jan", who's wife is related to Welch has "offered" him "the sort of deal I can't sniff at".

Wilson. Stonhill. Frain. We love 'em. Without blokes like them we'd have to be positive. Frain wasn't brilliant on Saturday, but he was OK. Most of the others weren't Brasil either. It goes with the club we support. Only a hat-trick would have earned him 'all right' reviews. He will always give 100% - and that's pretty good.

Anon at 10:55:41 Tuesday March 19 2002
I take my hat off to Macca, he done what too many of our players don't do and stayed down after even the minimal of contact. We've seen it against us time and time again, yet when we've had certain penalties this season, like when Forrester was definatly fouled at 6fields against B'mouth (i think) he got up vertually straight away!!! Stay down, if it gets decisions for us, then fantastic.
Pickled Judge at 9:12:15 Tuesday March 19 2002
I cannot understand how anyone could consider John Frain had a good game against Wrexham. That frankly is a case of rose tinted spectacles. He ran around like a scared whippet, did not challenge, did not pass, did not intercept. If he had been sent off it would have made no difference whatsoever.
North Stand Just at 9:5:34 Tuesday March 19 2002
Hey I can't find the word "wazzock" in the dictionary!!!!!!!!! Play fair mate!!! Good point on the foul though it doesn't need a two footed knee high challenge to send a player sprawling, if you're running at any sort of speed any knock on the leg can send you down.

Agree with you Drilling on some curious decisions by KB, however, he's making a difference with no additional resources so fair play to the guy - it looks like he might just keep us up which looked a tall order when he took over. Frain should be at left back but did ok in midfield anyway. Played some good balls, made tackles and was generally steady - shouldn't be in midfield though. I watched the game on ITV Sport Channel on Sunday, Macca was crocked by their leggy centre half, it was a very rash challenge. Also, whilst I disagreed at the time and thought Macca had conned the ref, the Wrexham player had to go for yet another rash kick at Macca. Wrexham certainly hit the self-destruct button and did us a favour. Players need to try and curb their instinct for handballing on the line - you concede from the penalty anyway, lose a man and get a ban - better to concede I'd say - expecially when you are losing 3-1 in the last minute anyway!! Can't go to Huddersfield, will somebody write a..
NTFC@2view at 19:33:49 Monday March 18 2002
All this talk about 'contact, if any, was minimal' is irrelevant. It doesn't say you have to maim the bloke. Didn't you ever 'flick' your mate's trailing heel and watch him fall over when you were a kid? The merest touch and you have to fall. And it's a foul.
The Drilling Cobbler at 19:5:34 Monday March 18 2002
Mcgregor fell onto his knees! I saw it on television yesterday, the contact - if any - was minimal, certainly not enough to warrant a penalty. If Wrexham had been awarded it, I dont think you would have agreed with it. Having said that, they deserved it after the 'homer' who refereed at their place. I fonly Neil Warnoch had been our manager tthat day... AAnd whilst it was us that benefitted from a 'dive' this week, last week it was Feeney who dived to get Spewdding his 2nd yellow card. Lets be honest - Mcgregor, like Gabbadini, goes to ground at the slightest opportunity. Regardless, our form since new year has been play off material, an absolutely amazing turnaround after the dross that the same players surved up beforehand. Again, well done Kevin Broadhurst.

The Drilling Cobbler at 16:55:27 Monday March 18 2002
We won 4-1 on Saturday because after the game was turned into our favour via a dodgy penalty, Wrexham lost their heads and disiplin (similar to ourselves at Bournemouth) and allowed us to score further goals against less players. Until the 1st penalty decision, we did not look like scoring and the game was heading towards a draw. Frain is not a midfielder, Marsh is not a left back and Hunter is not a right back. They could have all benn included in the team playing in their rightful positions, giving us much more balanced and midfield creativity. We ggot lucky on Saturday - about time to - but against stronger oppososition we would struggle with that line up, as indeed we did against Brighton. Football is all about opinions, and in all fairness to Broads although I disagree with some of his team selections and substitutions, I cannot overlook the fact that he has motivated the team and generally speaking organised the team, without having the benefit of signing

NTFC@2 view, yes, it seems that some people are not happy unless they have a player that they can blame all the ills of the world on. I'm sure that many fans were upset that previous "Boo boys" Mc Gregor and Parkin also had good games. Like all of us I find that certain players can be very frustrating but when they do put in a decent performance at least give them credit for it. If Parkins improvement in formis anything to go by it could spur them on to better performances

Wasn't it a shame that Frainy didn't really cock it up on Saturday. He made his tackles, a few passes, the corners were OK. He did get caught in possession once though! I was really looking forward to booing him and screaming 'See - you play, we lose! ' I'd have accepted relegation to be able to shout that. Oh well - another time maybe! '

the way the games played today a left back has got to more than defend, most fullbacks move up in to midfield when your teams go farward.the art of it is getting back when your team looses the ball.

North Stand Just at 9:43:43 Monday March 18 2002
Come on then anon explain what a key role Frain plays. I'm dying to learn from your great knowledge cos u obviously see something that most of us don't. Is the the 4 yrd sideways balls in midfield? The lack of pace? Or the inability to track his man back from midfield?

How the hell did Frain have a good game!!!!!!! he didn't mark, his tackling was awful and half the time he was getting in a mess with marsh over who was marking who. He played one good ball and had one good clearance header. Hardly man of the match material. By playing him we make our midfield even less creative.

What comes around goes around! After travelling to Wrexham and seeing the most appallingly home biased refereeing, it was very apt that yesterdays game turned on a very dodgy penalty decision in our favour. Until that point, I could see no where through the Wrexham defence - A soft goal and a couple of Parkin efforts apart, our midfieleld lacked creativity and spark, although I can not fault the effort which is more important. Marsh looked dodgy, but again its expected when he is being played out of position. Frain should have been at left back, allowing Marsh to play at right back and Hunter in midfield. The result - 3 players in their rightful positions equating to a much more balanced team. Having said all that, its results that count but we were very lucky yesterday and could not have complained if the game at ended 1-1. Interesting to read Oregons comments - I'm wondering if its the same director that told my father that Fashs bid was for all the wrong reasons! And s

9224 at 13:7:44 Sunday March 17 2002
I personally think John Frain takes an unbelievable amount of criticism. He is one of our more dedicated players, is hard as nails, and actually has sound ball control and doesn't squander possession. I'm not a big McGregor fan but thought he was excellent yesterday - more of the same please (but get a haircut!). Couldn't agree more about Sammo's booking - it was an excellent tackle and how the ref gave a foul I'll never know!

Crazy game yesterday - 4-1 winners with a sloppy performance. Nerves were in abundance on the pitch yesterday and, in such games, it is all about winning. The lads did well tand have made the table a much better one to look at. Ref was shocking yesterday, anything physical he got wrong from failing to give things he should have to sending players off and dishing out bookings he shouldn't have. Sammo's booking was tackle of the match and how he contrived to card him I'll never know. Once again, Asa does the damage - I just hope other clubs don't spot him and get him for a pittance at the end of the season. Good result but, as to be expected, a nervy performance. From a distance it seems odd that Keith Davies can once again waste taxpayers money in a spurious bid for city status, and then worse indulges himself in some sort of childish slanging match with the royal family about the reasons why it wasn't successful. Perhaps a few hours and accountants advice actually sorting out the valuation of the stadium would have been money and time better spent. If Brian Richardson is indeed a serious bidder then all the more reason to act quickly, as I find that rather more credible than Fashanu, whose bid according to what one of the dirctors told my father is dead in the water.

I wonder where members of NBC will be on april 20th, watching the Cobblers get relegated by cambridge or hob-nobbing with their friends at the Saints, watching them chase eggs. I find it sickening the way NBC has and is treating the cobblers. A sale now would still allow transfers and fill the gaps in midfield/up front with experience, yet it still seems a nothing meeting is needed to discuss when the next one should be. Perhaps we should invite a few of them down and slip them favours (Amazing how it was the Saints fans on the board which stirred up the trouble about Tax at sixfields) Yet OUR voice Tony Clarke (Ha, ha ,ha,ha) seems content to see th club fade into oblivion, perhaps he will want to be on the saints board next year at least then he can get in the chron every Day. Sort it out now before we end up being another aldershot etc. dont kid yourself things are getting worse by the day and no one seems to care, just us poor muppets that travel every week who will be hurt

There are 466148 shares in Issue and the largest shareholder seams to have onky 6500 shares. To buy them all at the value people are buying them from the club now, would value the club at £900000 +. no wonder the takeover is taing so long. People who say Frain is ok, MAY be right. BUT with the players we have not getting a game you are BONKERS. no way should he be anywhere in the team, especially midfield. why dont they just play him forward, im sure that the next step. We have the nucleas of players that can get us promoted next season, if we can stay up. Aussie cricket team - sacking Steve and Mark Waugh, they still up to world quality (i dont even like the guys), were sacked......because they had their day, they are getting old and other, younger players deserve the same chance they got. Leave Gabs alone - even with Brighton and Bournemouth he's still got 3 goals in the last 4 games! Frain midfield is crackers - I still believe he's worth a place, but only at left back instead of Spedding. Saturday is a must win - the table looks very concerning at the moment!

The players that must be kept are Welsh, Hargreaves, Forrester, Assamoah and Parkin (I realise that he is on loan from Chelsea but he will never get into the Chelsea team and surely would be on offer for a very small transfer fee) Mcgregor and Fattiadini are useless and the sooner they are away the better off the club will be (£4350 per week to be exact)
Mark at 19:5:0 Tuesday March 12 2002
How much is the club actually upon the market for? With a decent management structure the club should not be running at a loss. The shares offer mentioned in the program values the club just under 1m, therefore a takeover would have to be approximatly £950,000 to get your £10,000 stake back. I would love to take over the club however i would not pay £900,000 for the club and then pay off the 1.8m debt.

So from your viewpoint next to the radio 200 miles away u could tell it wasnt a red card offence lol. The red card was for persistent fouling: y Spedding didn't drop a yard or two to counter the guys pace I shall never know. To be fair it was hard to work out who scored the og when you're leaving the ground!
Phil at 10:27:10 Monday March 11 2002
1. It wasn't a red card offence. Listening on the radio they described the player as a cheat becuse he went round spedding just fell over and even before any card was issued he stood up laughing shaking hands with all his other players. 2. It was I hate to say my fave player Burgess and note Hope who scored the o/g
North Stand Just at 9:19:59 Monday March 11 2002
Oh my god i'm not going there again. Spedding was just left there to die by Broadhurst. He was getting skinned every time. It didn't take a genius to work out he was gonna walk. The ref even warned him that if he did it again he was off! The annoying thing is that till then we were the better team. As for the og what the hell was happening there! Welch can't have given Hope a call at all. Left five minutes before the end cos it was just getting embarrasing.

I could'nt agree with you more, A Childs View, It was obvious to most that Speds was gonna get sent off, sooner or later, i had the same argument with a bloke sitting next to me, 10 mins later he was walking.
The Drilling Cobbler at 17:4:12 Sunday March 10 2002
Childs view is absolutely right regarding the sending off. Bournemouth did what can only be described as a professional job on Spedds - executed by Feeney. Once Spedding had been booked and it was clear he couldnt handle Feeney, Bournemouth continually pinged ball after ball dowjn Speddings flank to be chased by Feeney. On 3 occasions he showed that he couldnt wait to hit the deck and that it was his agenda to get Dunc sent off. After he had received his warning, I for one was screaming at Broadhurst to replace him with Frain - hinesight was never needed. The 2nd booking was clearly a dive - point taken - but if he had been carded then it was only a matter of time. Also, the shape of the team was all wrong for the 2nd half. Surely at 1-1 Frain for Mcgregor or Forrester would have been the obvious change to make. They exploited our weakness down that side hence why they scored 4 goals in the 2nd half. It really was like watching a pub team!
KC at 16:14:42 Sunday March 10 2002
On yesterdays game....i think he should have taken Spedding off,it was plain to see for eveyone in the ground that Spedding was gonna get sent off! Feeney was skinning him piss easily.

A Childs View at 9:13:8 Sunday March 10 2002
Agree entirely about QPR Hotel Ender, brilliant performance from the players but KB didn't do well that game either. 10 minutes to decide what to do after Roy was sent off resulting in us conceding a second. If you read my post properly you'll see that I said the players were fantastic in that game, it was KB who I was disapointed by. Even so, people are always learning and I'm sure KB will have learnt something from that. Just to clarify, I'm not anti-KB - he's done well so far with no additional resources, furthermore, he's only just learning his trade. Does that mean we can't point out when he gets things wrong though? The Spedding substitution should have happened, its not hindsight saying that, it was several fans saying it 5 minutes before it happened. Managers should make brave decisions and change things early if required, not always leave subsitutions to the last 10 minutes. You see managers sub players who look likely to get sent off all the time - its about being flexible.

Lets just write it off, a bad day against a bogey side. A 100% improvement required on Tuesday - from management and players. What a waste of a Saturday.
A Childs View at 21:34:32 Saturday March 9 2002
What can we say about that? A chance to pull away from trouble and a completely shocking performance given - very disappointing indeed. KB, you've questions to answer again - were you the only person in thr ground who couldn't see that Spedding would get sent off? A dubious first booking for Dunc, however, his talking to from the biased homer ref was clearly a signal, about 10 people sitting around me said get him off and put Frainy on before he's sent off - lo and behold, he's sent off shortly after! The ref was an arse today, however, KB should have seen what was coming. 2nd half we were getting tonked, clearly needed to sort left back out, but KB delayed changes until we were 3 down! Frainy was on the bench - why have an attacking right back playing at left back? When the subs happened they were wrong - Gabbi was our best player first half. This reminded of QPR, some obvious decisions not being made quickly enough with the direct result of getting us points. We were gutless.........

Vince at 23:25:27 Friday March 8 2002
Dave, all travel clubs have made a loss on certain away games but throughout the season a profit is made - travel clubs run as a service to fans who want to go to away games and its not a matter of ife and death if a profit is not made on every trip. Hiring a smaller coach costs about the same as a 50 seater - most of the costs relate to the driver and the fuel which are about the same regardless of the size of the bus. The Trust is not a travel club it is there to represent fans on the board. Any profits made from running trips to away games help achieve this but it is by no means the only source of income.

You say that the trust have handed over £9,000 this season which is fanastic but how much has Trust Travel handed over. The £9,000 must be from the membership fees from people like myself who pay each year. if trust travel did'nt run at a loss it be more keep up the good work Supporters Trust. may i suggest a mini-bus they might fill that. If the trust exective don't look into this cost wasting then i won't be re-newing my membership next year for them to waste it.
Anon at 22:58:13 Thursday March 7 2002
W'boro claret - read Hodders answers to the questions at tonights trust meeting on the official site. No negotiations with any of the players out of contract will be taking place until the end of the season. I am sure some will go and some will stay irrespective of the takeover situation

When I got my ticket for the bournmouth game today I asked the women at the ticket office wot was happening bout the players who's contracts are out of contract at the end of the season. I was told that because there was no firm buyer for the club that no player who's contract was up would be offered a new deal beacuse the club simply cannot afford it. Who are the 11 players whos contracts are up at the end of the season? this explains why hargreaves house has been put on the market. I seriously fear for this clubs future because if we get relegated and av 11 first teamers missing, this means only our reserves and youth will be left due to the transfer embargo placed on us. Our reserves and youth lose nearly every match!!!!! We could be facing relegation to the conferance next season and perhaps even the death of Northampton Town Football Club. I dearly hope I am wrong but things don't sound too good for the future of NTFC. FTP FTD

Despite how much you all seem to think i knock the trust may i point out i went to the exeter rooms put money in buckets & have supported all its various fund raising its/we have done over the years & will continue to do so. but what gets me is why when its travel club contiues to struggle match after match after match, when the other travel clubs are making a profit the trust which is doing a great job at boardroom level seems quite happy to bail out its loss making travel club
Mal at 17:18:1 Thursday March 7 2002
I have just visited the Bournmouth site on Rivals.net. The chairman is praising the fans for the noise they made to lift the team at Reading on Tuesday and they have an active campaign to get more people to attend on Saturday and get into the ground 20 mins before kick-off. It looks as though they want to try and outsing us and reaklly raise the players game. Lets make sure we can match them and get really behind the boys on Saturday, its true the more we sing and get behind them the more determination and better they play. UTC FTP FTD

Is Teamtalk right, is there an open forum tonight, will Gary Hodder be present to answer fans questions? Only a month ago Gary Hodder seemed to be our only hope, but now the team has rallied somewhat it most definitely is Mr Broadhurst our destiny is in our own hands (certainly until the end of this season) I only hope that whatever happens ( Fashanu hopefully, Richardson possibly, Underwood God forbid) that Kevan gets the just rewards his hard work and dedication deserve.... by the way is Dean Court walkable from Bournemouth Town Centre because last year I drank in the worst Witherspoons pub I have ever visited in Boscombe but have heard the one in the town centre is really good

the sad fact is that TRAVEL CLUB WATCH and RUBBER DUCK must care because thats all they go on about, and as for making sure we have got 2nd div football next year, weel part of that is about makong sure we have a club still in exitstence and yet its only the trust out of all of these groups and travel clubs that seems even remotely interested in doing anything about. I think the trust knockers are the same as the player knockers, just peddling negative rubbish for the sake of it

I believe that on Radio Northampton on Saturday, Adam Blackmore stated that the council have not even told the club what their valuation of Sixfialeds is and our now asking the bidders to make there bids. Sounds to me like the council didn't like the valuation they got, and are now hoping someone puts a bid in that is more than Sixfileds is worth.
Continued. at 19:28:31 Tuesday March 5 2002
Its not as if we have to pay their wages before next seasons money comes in! I have a therie that one or more of the bidders has requested that new contracts are not offered, otherwise the deal is off. I simply can see no other reasoning begind it. At least by offering terms to our better players it would show that the present board still have NTFCS best interests at heart. From where I am sitting however I would question their committment because it is likely we are about to lose a number of valuable assets for no real reason. Unless we are not being told something? And as for our deadline setter attending the fans meeting this week - I for one will not be wasting my time going just to hear a load of spin. My final point - surely it is legal that the council must publicly announce the figure that they have put on sixfields - after all its public property.
The Drilling Cobbler at 19:18:58 Tuesday March 5 2002
Couldnt make the Blackpool game tonight (well couldnt be bothered!) but off to Bournemouth for a weekend down at the seaside this weekend. The 'Sunnydean' has the honour of accomodating our party of 4 - a telephone campain of around 15 calls was required before we found a hotel prepared to accomodate a group of male only 'holiday makers' whos only intents is purely to watch a football match and get pissed. It made securing a weekend pass seem easy! 4 points from the next 3 games would set us up nicely for the final hurdle. I have now finally accepted that the takeover saga is likely to run into the summer at best and that we are going to be asked to commit to our season tickets without any real optimism for next season. Not a problem for most who visit this board, but what about the other 2500 or so 'take it or leave it' season ticket holders. One thing I do not understand is whuy can we not secure the services of Hargrieves, Hunt and Welch for next season now?
Ooh Arthur!!! at 18:48:55 Tuesday March 5 2002
Answer me this, oh learned readers to Cobblers Comments- why has it taken till Tuesday 5th March 2002 for the Chronicle and Echo to report on an event that happened LOCALLY on Saturday 2nd March 2002? I am of course referring to the post Cardiff scrap. Did the newshound get a puncture on his push bike? I think the police should start questioning all the glazing companies in Northampton - bit of a window smashing conspiracy?!? Also, another great journalistic cock-up- why, in the News of the World on Sunday was a Saints badge put next to the snippet on Fashanu taking over the Cobblers this week? Do they know something we don't?!!!! Anyone else spot it? John Atkinson is GOD!! Up the Cobblers!
mark at 16:48:25 Tuesday March 5 2002
I also believe there to have been a number of leicester fans involved on saturday as i overheard a telephone conversation of a cardiff fan on the train back to birmingham about an hour and a half after the match. he was obviously one of the ring leaders and said that he was disappointed that it didnt all go off as planned as there was too many police that were clued up, i also overheard him say that the only good thing about the day was that he had got a few of the northampton lad's mobile numbers as well as a number of leicester fans, so that we can sort something out next time. pathetic, why dont u just grow up. up the cobblers tonight, i think the best we can hope for is a draw, i feel the next 2 results will be vital in determinining whether we stay up, however i also agree the large majority of the players will go, particularly hunter, welch, hunt, asamoah and definately hodgey.

i was told to look on the site for some interesting news on a fash takeover from goals on sunday any news anyone .strange attendance figures i thought yesterday i could have sworn they announced about 5500 i couldnt see anything like 2000 empty seats apart from a big gap in the east seperating us from the morons .2nd goal on or offside why do we play the offside game against potenetially the fastest strike force in the division i thoght we would have learnt our lesson when it nearly cost us against pooboro.never thought i would say it but we missed parkin!!!!!!

Cardiff are just a piss stain on British football
Radio 5 at 20:55:32 Sunday March 3 2002
On Radio 5 today it was suggested that Man City should sign Keith Welch from Northampton, that he would do a better job in the Premiership when they go up than the present keeper, Alan Green didnt know who Welchy was??

A RATE PAYER at 16:3:22 Sunday March 3 2002
New Sol Central pub the Toad smashed up, the Bus Club, St James smashed up, Chevvys smashed up, 4 coach loads of taffs at the Rose & Claret, W Hunsbury. How much has all this damage cost? ? ? ? We had a police helicpoter, god knows how many riot vans, mounted police how much did this cost the rate payer, every time we play Cardiff & every where they go these fans cause trouble. When will the F.A. get rid of them?
Anon at 15:26:42 Sunday March 3 2002
I would say the Northampton fans in chevvys after the game were more of a disgrace than cardiff
6FIELDS STRANGLER at 15:3:58 Sunday March 3 2002
Who thinks the Cardiff fans are a dissgrace? Whats was the cost of policing them yesterday? I say make them play in a Welsh league, so the Welsh F.A have the trouble & cost..,
sm at 13:7:33 Sunday March 3 2002
cv : Hunter struggling in the middle ? yesterday i thought the whole midfield played well, and Hunter was my man of the match. And I thought Marsh and Mcgregor linked up very well down the right, and we fell away a bit when McGregor went off because Marsh wasn't able to get forward as much.

Childs view, I'm not berating Frain, just saying he has nothing on offer that will improve the team. His wembley goal will doesn't help us this season in the fight against relegation - get real
A Childs View at 8:33:1 Sunday March 3 2002
....has been a loyal servant to this club and doesn't deserve the abuse. Do Man U and Liverpool berate their players when they get on a bit, no, they eulogise them and celebrate their contribution. If you think Frainy is past it fair enough, but make your point sensibly and don't fire off insults - he simply doesn't deserve them and is still worth a place in the squad. 3 tough games now, the Bournemouth one eing crucial - need to get at least a win and a draw if we can. Come on the Town!
A Childs View at 8:27:52 Sunday March 3 2002
...he'd have to admit he should have scored 2, if not a hat-trick! Some curious management decisions again, Roy in the middle where is he is struggling and Marsh (man of the match IMHO) at right back - swap them around, Marsh can beat a man, pass and go either side - he did an excellent job in the middle at Swindon, I'd like to see him pushed forward and have Roy at right-back where he's looking quite solid. Spedding got roasted by Josh Low but grew stronger as the game went on, good to see him back. Another strange, ld Sammo as the makeshift stronger when we've the younger, more mobile, 6/7 goal Hopey still playing at the back - we could have done that the other way around. Still, the other results went our way, the performance was good and before the Vale and Cardiff game I'd have settled for 3/4 points. Where is all this Frain-bashing coming from? The man deserves more respect, yes he's getting on but we shouldn't be slating players who are part of our history. Frainy has been .....
A Childs View at 8:20:52 Sunday March 3 2002
Deserved a point yesterday - the team did pretty well against a strong Cardiff side, with Earnshaw and Kavanagh they'd be a real force. The crucial point of the game for me was Gabi's miss from 5 yards after Hope's flick on, if we'd gone ahead it may have been different. Still, the boys shouldn't be to disheartened - the level of perfomance was ok. Andy Legg was the best left-back I've seen at Sixfields for ages - a huge throw, commitment, positioning sense, passing - the lot! He did brilliantly to protect his goal when Jamie cut inside in the 2nd half - Jamie did really well and must have been dismayed to see Legg clear his effort. I'm Marco's biggest and haven't got a clue what Richie below is on about, although too old, he remains our most skilful player. That said, he has too hold hi hands up, 1 goal from 3 gilt-edged chances yesterday - his mis from 5 yards and his second half chance at 1-2 when he fell to the ground and tamely volleyed straight at their keeper - as a poacher.....

NO news with takeover or solving transfer ban and the club ask if we have any questions. The addition of an experienced loaned strike on the bench might have helped this afternoon but nothing as we are told can be done we just have to wait..

Kavanagh suspended tomorrow. Andy Campbell making debut up front with Thorne. Fash going to game to meet up with his old pal Sam the man. According to Fash in local press today, the deal is nearly done!
oldbrook cobbler at 16:15:56 Friday March 1 2002
just seen the video highlight on official site from tuesday. what a load of cobblers it was. no james hunt hitting the post and more worryingly no save of the season from welchy. the mans a god in my book. while he is still here we have a chance of surviving this year.
Andy C at 15:58:48 Friday March 1 2002
Thorne's likely to play tomorrow but Cardiff haven't signed their old player Haworth: he's gone to Tranmere to join the ex-Latics Barlow and Mathias. I hear that your Mr Gabbiadini was named last night by Mrs Reynolds as the ringleader of the money-grabbers at Darlington a couple of years ago. The current players walked out of a supporters' forum in disgust after she alleged some of them weren't trying for much of the season and claimed games were always thrown at this time of year when past favours were called in.
