It seems to me that Stonhill should also have freedom of speach to say what he likes as well as ClarkeAlso does anyone in there right mind think the current Directors will make anything out of this deal, I think we would be all astonished if we found out how much they ( including all the friends of the Club ) put in and stand to lose
DEJA VUE at 17:49:46 Friday May 31 2002
Didn't the club have a dig at Tony Clarke last time he spoke out about Atkins and then 3 weeks later agreed with him? Seems freedom of speech is only o.k if it comes from a italian/serb with a dodgy background and money in his pocket. Seems money talks and bullshit baffles and anyone trying to warn of impending doom is castigated. UTC FTP

question1, do we trust a member of the board who has nothing to gain on the GDS deal or those who stand to be paid back loans and recieve money for their shares. Question 2, if those who excuse GDS so confident, why dont they take up the challenge of asking him who Carlo Fabiani is? Question 3 when all the optimists who say sell sell sell are proven wrong will they put their hands in their pockets to buy the club back? answers? I doubt it
The Drilling Cobbler at 16:48:57 Friday May 31 2002
Amazing revelations from Di Stefano on the official site - he claims that it is in the contract between NTFC and the council that as landlords, they must maintain the stadium to the standards that the football assocition require. In other words if the Cobblers got into division1, they must increase the capacity accordingly to first division standard requirements! Which is considerably higher than the current 7500 or so capacity. I know their are timescales involved to allow clubs to improve facilities - is it 3 years? Otherwise the likes of Grimsby, Brighton etc wouldnt be there. Perhaps if we did get promoted the council would be forced to sell cheap because they have not got the money to invest on sixfields. Whichever way, the only winner would be NTFC.

have to agree with "devoted", if this board had been around in '91 I bet the same people who are saying take Di Stefano's money would probably have been welcoming McRitchgie with open arms. I remember the hype around McRitchie and at the time swallowed the hype and thought anything was better than Underwood. How wrong we were proved to be. I think the adage "one bitten, twice shy" should be considered here!

Nice to have opinions and do all the research, but the reality is anyone is better than no one taking over the club. We had Sir Ian Atkins in charge, then a smurf and not we have another potential Sir KB, but he needs some £££££ and where it comes I just dont care, nor will the majority of us mindless fans, we just dont want the 3rd Division!!!

O.K so I am a devoted cobblers fan who will watch the cobblers however is in charge but dont count me amongst the idiots who just cant see whats in front of them, I get really mad when people say "so what" or "well its not proven" the same people would soon blame the board if GDS turned out to be a disaster for the club, I think there are to many people posting on this board who just want anything to happen and as a result have lost sight of their senses. I dont want this Di Stefano geezer and Fash is a better bet by default, but if thats all thats on offer then we might as well struggle on. Also I dont let anyone make my mind up for me, I look for the info myself, I suggest others do the same. Still devoted UTC FTP

I suppose someone is going to say, "Yes, but he's the one trying to buy us. What all of the others did is of no concern to us." But if you are trying to say that only Serbs had 'blood on their hands' you are re-writing history. I'd like to know whether some of the people posting on here since GdS came on the scene have (a) ever posted on here about football (b) have anything at all to do with NTFC. good work ntfc@2view, now given the "well innocent till proven guilty" crap from some and the "he only represents bad guys" rubbish from others, not to mention his milatary rank in the same Serb Tigers that killed thousnds in cold blood including women and children!! wouldn't it be remarkable if Carlo Fabiani and GDS were one and the same? guess some one needs to ask him, after all he is not shy at expressing a view on the official site is he?
NTFC@2view at 18:23:47 Thursday May 30 2002
"Arkan, along with Slobodan Kostovski and Carlo Fabiani, an Italian citizen, are suspected in a 5 September 1979 armed robbery in a bank in Stockholm. Fabiani was arrested and on 11 September 1979, he was taken to the City Court of Stockholm for a court hearing. When Fabiani was taken into the courtroom, Arkan and Kostovski reportedly helped him escape by firing several gunshots at the guards. On 21 September 1979, this same group is alleged to have committed armed robbery in a large department store in Gothenburg before moving on to the Netherlands."
answer at 18:17:23 Thursday May 30 2002
ntfc@2view, its simple because no matter what is written about GDS everyone tried to cover their eyes and pretend its not true and it will go away, so if you ask him the question himself he can either answer, and hang himself or stay silent and hang himself .Either way he deserves any discomfort that comes his way.

Tranmere may have a 16000 seat stadium, but when did they ever have more than 9000 in it? There support base remains eternally constrained by the allure of their wealthier neighbours, and beleive me it's a lot more difficult to get to Anfield and Goodison from the Wirral than it is to MK. And at least in MK there's a good chance your car will still be in one piece after the game!

"Could he possibly mean that Tranmere are the poor relations of the Tranmere, Everton, Liverpool area, as we might become of the NTFC, RDFC, MKFC area?" Yes, poor relations who have a 16,500 capacity stadium, spent most of the last 10 years in the First Division, went to Wembley in the Worthington Cup and have had many a good FA Cup run. Compare to the Cobblers who spend season after season in the lower divisions (most in the lowest), lose to non-league teams in the cup and don't even own their own stadium, "Silly name, sillier post perhaps. Why is everything taking so long - it needs to happen soon so KB can plan for next season, every day longer that passes the less inclined the out of contract players will be to re-sign. Just what is di Stefano on? - I'll never come to a game, I just want to leave the club alone and see it go to the 1st division, or should I say hear about it going up because I'll never watch a game!! Is anybody else thinking this just doesn't add up? £1/2 million debts and getting absolutely nothing back - there is no sense to this and I'm getting very suspicious. The Fash bid has been transparent, we know what it's about and it adds up - the di Stefano scenario simply sounds absurd! Wimbledon going to MK is very wrong - it cuts against local identity - how must the genuine fans of the club be feeling? I've every sympathy with them and hope the Dons' move never becomes a reality. Surely a solution can be brokered which keeps W'don local?

I've just been informed from a 100% reliable source that the boards favoured bid is Di Stefano's. He would inherit around 1/2 million in debts -low by football standards- in return for the football club. Interest on these debts is around 25k pa. The board will recieve no actual money. The director in question (Pete Randal) who supplied this information to my source perceives Di Stefano as a football enthusiast(contrary to Di Stefano's quotes!) who simply wants to push the club up the league. He adamently defended Di Stefano's work, comparing to Cherie Blairs role defending illegal assylum seekers!

It's quiteobvious that Wimbledon will soak up the lion's share of corporate sponsorship in the MK and Northampton catchment area. No company of any note has been forthcoming in stepping up to help the Cobblers and that's hardly surprising given the Mickey Mouse nature of Sixfields - no boxes, catering straight out of the motorway service areas, and a car parking and road access system of which Stephen Byers would be proud. I genuinely fear we are to become the Tranmere of this area.

Bletchley Bobcats, I hope you realise that the rates in MK will rise about 10-15% to pay for this new stadium. The MK borough council do not have to pennies to rub together, so the finance will have to come from the local people. The rule of thumb for a new stadium is one million pounds per thousand seats, making your new stadium at lest 28 million pounds. This does not include executive boxes, club shops, restaurants and car parking. With all this in mind, the cost will be around 35 million pounds, are you prepared to pay? The none football people of MK will not be happy.

The Drilling Cobbler at 9:2:47 Wednesday May 29 2002
Fair point Paul, I overlooked that point. Like most people, I feel that morally it is completely wrong, but wouldnt the FA have been subjected to a long running legal battle if they had turned down the application? It is the only reason I can think of why the league sanctioned it as quite clearly it has detrimental effects on a number of clubs in this area and is not something that any Wimbledon supporter wanted. Personnally, I do not think it will ever happen - I hope Koppel is suitably protected because he obviously has no idea how high passions can run in the game of football. The meeting with Di Stefano is today - I am eagerly awaiting news from this on the official site........
Paul S at 8:50:16 Wednesday May 29 2002
Drilling - I totally disagree with you about the rational for the FAs decision. It is clear that a company can trade from wherever they choose, but it is also quite within the leagues right to impose rules of association to its members. If Wimbledon choose not to abide by those rules they are free to trade from where they like OUTSIDE the association. So they can play football in MK but the league doesn't have to accept them as a member. The FA basically fell for Charles Koppells sob story. IMHO bad management led to present position and its unreasonable for their fans and clubs like ours to pay the price. An exceptional rule for one club is soon a general rule for all.

I'm surprised you're all so pleased about the move - for political reasons, as well as sporting it would seem. I'm happy to be on my own and happy to use the same 'name' for each post. I'm not sure why people use different names, except thay can pretend it's not them if it is unpopular. No conviction!

NTFC@2view at 19:52:11 Tuesday May 28 2002
No, we're still in the league because KHFC spent all their money on players and didn't upgrade their ground and were refused admission when we finished bottom of the league. Rushden and Diamonds made proper and correct progress after merging 2 clubs playing each in front of 500 or so people, from the DM Midlands to DM Premier to Conference to League. Indistinguishable from the Wimbledon scenario to you, perhaps, but you do seem to have very limited understanding. (Could this be the first posting by that most rare of breeds, a genuine MK citizen glad it's happening?) As for di Stefano supplying both India and Pakistan with weapons of death - or is that British Capitalism?
The Preacher at 19:30:41 Tuesday May 28 2002
"We're still in the League because Kidderminster tried to get away with similar - but were stopped." Not quite. Have you ever thought, we're only still in business because of that lovely mechanism called administration, where you get away with paying your creditors 2p each. And the council's FREE handout.
MK Dons at 19:25:59 Tuesday May 28 2002
Rushden and Diamonds bought there way into the League. Milton Keynes has bought division 1 football. NTFC represents the high morals of a bygone age in football. Whoops, I forgot about di Stefano.
NTFC@2view at 19:10:25 Tuesday May 28 2002
"Stone Age days were no different to a Free Market, the strong will survive and whats wrong with that" says a brain-dead poster, sweeping aside 5000 years of History. I suppose when someone comes along and takes your car, smacking you with an iron bar, you take it all as a sign of progress? Twát!
NTFC@2view at 19:0:37 Tuesday May 28 2002
"Free Market is God!", you're really quite a good way short of rational. You need to seek help. Urgently.
NTFC@2view at 18:54:35 Tuesday May 28 2002
The Council built a stadium for the use of the team already here. MK has bought Div 1 football without the messy and time consuming need to upgrade Wolverton Town by 4 or 5 divisions. If you don't see a difference, I suggest you stick your irony up your árse to clear you brain!

You are a baby NTFC@2view, I bet you wear a nappy and are scared of Roy KeanE. Short memory the Cobbs got a free ground (but a limited one!). Stone Age days were no different to a Free Market, the strong will survive and whats wrong with that, we will discover who the genuine fans are, we did after the 2 Wemblys, the days of ritchie etc. but what the hell i dont want to look forward I want the Cobbs to be the Premiership Club and we wont do a Bradford/Barnsley etc. And why shouldnt MK have their own league team??? And dont give me any nonsence about the Wombles and morals and Merton.
Another Ultimatum for the trust at 18:39:30 Tuesday May 28 2002
If the crap i have just read on teamtalk, perfaps those in charge of the trust would like to consider the fact that if we dont have money invested soon the club will die, stop protecting your own interests and look forward fo the club
Oh the irony. at 18:36:41 Tuesday May 28 2002
NTFC - forgot that the council built a 7000 seater stadium for FREE?
A Childs View at 17:57:38 Tuesday May 28 2002
Di Stefano may not even come to a game - surely that post on the official website is a joke? What sort of person pumps money in and declares having no interest in what happens to it? This gets weirder by the minute - good news about Stamp, if he can do the job Steve Howard did we also gain an extra player in Jamie Forrester!!
The Drilling Cobbler at 17:8:46 Tuesday May 28 2002
I totally agree with what you say NTFC. I am not suggesting it is right, I am merely pointing out that legally there is little to stop them moving. I feel that the system is wrong, not the Football Association in this case. They probably had their hand tied. As for Koppel, it is an example of what can happen if 'money men' and not 'rich football supporters' become involved with football clubs. The motives of www and Di Stefano must be fully explored before allowing either to take control of the Cobblers.
NTFC@2view at 16:37:33 Tuesday May 28 2002
"Free Market" bóllocks! Somebody is building them a 28000 seater stadium FREE. Any other clubs trying to better themselves would have to build their own. With ground expenses out of the way Milton Keynes FC will be able to concentrate on squad strengthening and we'll be faced with a Prem club just down the road. We're still in the League because Kidderminster tried to get away with similar - but were stopped. The typical level field of a capitalist society. Is there no room for a football stadium nearer to Merton? Answer - nobody else is offering to give them one free.
The Drilling Cobbler at 15:51:11 Tuesday May 28 2002
Whilst I totally see the point of those against Wimbledon moving to Milton Keynes, the free market argument is very difficult to overcome. There is fundamentally no difference in a football club moving areas to a company(example Vauxhall) moving areas and putting loads of the people on the job market. WFC is a limited company, therefore it is upto the shareholders of that company where they wish to run their business from. Morally it is 100% wrong, but then making a workforce redundant for the same reason is as well. I actually do not think it will benefit Wimbledon moving to Milton Keynes even on a business front purely because they are sacrificing their entire 'customer base' and hoping they will attract a new one in MK. I hope they do not. I suspect the Football Association were scared of the legal implications likely to face them if they turned down the application. This country now has very little say in its own laws.
Social Conscience at 15:28:27 Tuesday May 28 2002
The trouble is Free Market is that people like you know the price of everything and the value of nothing. The inevitable journeys end for your "I dont care where the money comes from" attitude is Old Trafford. true fans lead not follow on like mindless sheep. No to Di Stefano

nothing wrong with a bit of competition free market - but have you stopped to consider how the wimbledon fans feel about being moved up the M1..
Free Market at 14:52:31 Tuesday May 28 2002
I dont care a stuff about Wimbledon moving to MK, there is nothing wrong with competition, if we are good enough on the field and have a sound financial base (if thats ever possible in this day and age) then what have we to worry about, and OUR true fans will stay whatever happens, the more competition the better, we just need more capacity (that old chestnut) and glad to know your going Anon, but then you keep threatening to go, but no one wants you not even the Dorkones!! And I dont care who takes over as long as they can generate $$£££££££££££$$$$$

Sums Up.... the supporters are the only people who count and its time we made our voice heard, if its a toss up between selling out or chipping in then I would rather stick my hand in my pocket than allow the Cobblers to go the same way as Wimbledon, ie souless no community connection an owner who dont care etc, wheres the collection bucket
anon at 13:42:3 Tuesday May 28 2002
The FA should be ashamed of themselves for allowing the Wimbledon move, what price community? with this and the Cobbs selling its pride and history to the highest bidder regardless of their record I feel powerless and stripped of any loyalty. Stop Di Stefano now!!
Sums up the clubs attitude. at 13:36:43 Tuesday May 28 2002
So Wimbledon get the go ahead to move to MK and the official site is first with the news, but the club is being bought by a fascist and not a peep? How strange. I wonder who future Buckinghamshire fans will follow Wimbledon or Arkan United?
Paul S at 13:32:20 Tuesday May 28 2002
LH - maybe it's the other way round - perhaps Fash is so interested in the ground so he can offer to groundshare until the new stadium is built in MK. What bet then the reverse will hold true and he will sell Sixfields
AL at 12:44:14 Tuesday May 28 2002
It will take Wimbledon two to three years to move to Milton Keynes. This makes the sale of Northampton Town Football Club even more important, as this has a direct impact on the Cobblers. If we can establish a firm based (Div 1) before Wimbledon move, their move will not have such a large impact on Cobblers.

Northampton Town are in for some former Premiership players. Among some names mentioned are goal keeper Gary Walsh who has just been released from Bradford City and former England International Paul Gascoigne who is also a free agent after being released by Burnley. Meanwhile The Cobblers have also approached Leicester City's Dennis Wise and have offered him the role of player coach. It also means that the shirt eventually loses any identity with the club should you want to wear it seasons later, you'd look pretty gormless wearing an orange shirt amongst a sea of claret at Cardiff Arms Park!
Dyl at 15:54:47 Thursday May 23 2002
I don't see why the kit has to be in our ' traditional colours'. Didn't we originally play in a chocolate colour or did I imagine it? Anyway in recent years we have had bright orange and electric green. I prefer kit a, but am not really fussed.

i'd like to say how utterly ridiculous i feel the take over of this club is becoming, its taken 9 months and still they're valuing things? and are we actually any closer to being taken over than we were 9 months ago? I bet the handing over of Hong Kong took less time than the sale of our second division football club. the amounf of red tape surrounding this whole affair is absolutely shocking and even as a complete outsider it is clear that progress is almost non-existent. And Gary "PR Legend" Hodder's weekly evasion to give us any dates or real guage of progress corroborates this, this weeks comments were almost identical to those 6 months ago. Come on Hodder, come on NTFC, come on WWW, we need answers or at least estimates not fob-offs.

With the demise of all the other bidders (except you know who), Fashanu it would seem is now in a very strong position. Maybe - just maybe - he has sat on the fence all this time waiting for the others to fall away before closing in on the deal. The current board have very little choice not to sell to him - and at whatever price he offers to pay - if they want out. The alternative for them is to hang on in and continue to lose money, the team gets relegated, and they then have can expect even less money for all of their efforts over the years. It is highly unlikely that others will now join in the auction, personally I would not be surprised if www have it tied up by next week. Heres hoping.....

In 1993 an Italian entrepreneur called Giovanni Di Stefano appeared in Belgrade and quickly obtained Yugoslav citizenship. He was soon involved in a variety of business activities from airlines to media. But when he was briefly arrested in 1994, he was promptly released after top level intervention from the president's office. Di Stefano's release did not stop the investigation leaking tit-bits of information, including the fascinating fact that Di Stefano's Yugoslav passport carried Milosevic's home address. Di Stefano later turned up quoted by the foreign media as a'spokesman' for Raznjatovic and his SSJ party. The prosecuting judge, his investigations blunted by officials, later resigned and now works as a lawyer in Belgrade. And the man who ordered Di Stefano's release, one Dragan Jankovic, presiding judge of the First Municipal Court of Belgrade, was a guest at the Italian's wedding a year later. He is now the Serbian Minister of Justice.

We believe that this is not entirely true. Arkan's "right arm", Mr. Giovanni Di Stefano, due to an arrest warrant issued by the British Government, is jailed in the Roman Prison Regina Coeli. Mr. Di Stefano can certainly provide lots of information and evidence regarding Arkan's illicit traffics and crimes committed in the 1990s by the Milosevic's regime by Arkan himself. from www.casi.org.uk: Di Stefano said that in March 1998 - five months before the embassy bombings - he entered the state-run hotel with Tariq Aziz, the Iraqi foreign minister, and was sitting in the lobby with a business associate. Richard Butler, the chief United Nations weapons inspector, had just walked past when they overheard someone sitting nearby say: "That is a man who brings death to this country." Di Stefano said he looked over and saw a slightly built man sipping Evian water. "I said we also had our victims to cry over in Yugoslavia," Di Stefano recalled. "He walked over, and I remember his piercing eyes and handshake. His skin was gentle and soft, like a woman's hand." The two men made polite conversation, and the stranger introduced himself as Osama Bin Laden, Di Stefano said "He seemed kind: he talked about a family feast for his children and asked me about law, he seemed a gentle man, although his eye movements were a little strange"

Todays c&e - apparently JF is meeting up with the directors this week with his financial expert. Also quotes Di Steffano saying that he hopes to tie up the deal by the end of this week. Regarding the Fash bid, if it hasnt gone through by next week it would seem that it would be at least another month away due to Fash's involvement with Nigeria in the World Cup. Hodder reckons that Di Steffano hasnt actually submitted his bid yet - one thing I cant work out is if there were 5 bidders in total and 3 have dropped out, who is the 'still' mystery bidder? Di Steffano has only been involved for 3 weeks so somewhere along the lines the figures do not add up.

"We believe Gordonstoun had an obligation to Milan which it failed to meet. "Calling Prince Charles to give evidence is an option we are considering. "It is well publicised that he didn't enjoy his time there." Problems at the £18,500-a-year school began when Milan's father, Yugoslav national Giovanni di Stefano, failed to pay the fees because of UN sanctions against Yugoslavia. He claimed the school agreed to defer payment until after the sanctions were lifted but then refused to let Milan back after a half-term break in 2000. The school denies making the agreement. The writ lodged in the High Court says: "The reason for refusing to allow the claimant to return to his educational studies was more than a question of finances but predominantly one of racial prejudice in a time of 'Anti- Yugoslav' expression throughout Europe.

A CAMBRIDGE student is suing a top school in a legal action which could involve Prince Charles. Milan Rajacic Di Stefano, 17, a pupil at Long Road Sixth Form College, has accused Gordonstoun School bosses of racism after they threw him out. The Yugoslav-born teenager claims he suffered serious medical problems and depression after being barred from the Scottish school where Prince Charles was educated. Lawyers acting for the boy, who lives in Coleridge Road, Cambridge, are demanding that the school either reinstates him or pays him £80,000 damages.Milan said: "I had to see a psychologist because I was just destroyed. I had my own little world built up and it was suddenly gone. "The teachers were very nice and I have nothing against them. I miss them and the school. I think the people in charge may have thrown me out for political reasons." Milan's brother Michael Di Stefano, 22, said: "He has been treated outrageously. It has created hell in his life.

Hotel Ender - I am not endorsing Di Steffano - I know very little about the guy. If he is what some people claim him to be then I too would not want to see him anywhere near Northampton let alone at sixfields. But I was brought up to believe that you are innocent until proven guilty. People are making judgements on someone they have never met, probably never heard of until last week, and who they have only read about on the net. The chances are he is guilty, but why are the directors even discussing the sale of the club with him if that is the case? That is something I cannot fathom out. Racist and naive? Not in my opinion. Do you really believe that the Chron did its own digging? It is capable od doing so, but it wouldn't have needed to. The organisation our anonymous friend belongs to would have seen that the local pres knew - they always do. Is the man in prison? Has he been found guilty in a court of law? I don't know these answers, but I do know that "someone said somebody did something and di Stefano was their friend". That isn't guilt. I found the website of Mr Anonymus, but couldn't summon the enrgy to read it, but I suggest that, until there is proof from someone without an axe to grind, I will give him the benefit of the doubt. (It's about time we got a proper posting window back!) Because Mr Anonymous is nothing to do with our club, he began by posting a line at a time.

Thank god you morons on here have something to maon about and none of you represent the true long term Cobblers fan, football is unfortunately a business now (wake up) and in football and business the guys at the top are not perfect and have intertesting backgrounds to say the least. My only interest in life is to see the Cobblers at the top and yes at any price, and if a certain guy hiding out in Afghanistan or wherever wanted to buy the club I have no problem with that if we beat everyone!!!

Is this from DiSteffano??? taken from the official site messageboard.....I reply to those who has posted messages on this board. To the allegation that I know nothing about football-guilty! I do not even know offside. To the allegation I have not been involved in football-I took FC Obilic from second division Yugoslav Championship to Champions League playing against Bayern Munich and Atletico de Madrid. That when most international teams came to Belgrade I was chosen to host and ensure allwould run smoothly. To all those clubs I hold an interest- Dundee FC and Norwich FC look at them in the last two years. To the allegation I am not local- from 1961 until 1978 I lived in Northamptonshire, went to Wollaston and Wellingborough School and lived for my early life four hundred metres from Phil Neal-yes in Irchester. That I defend those accused of serious crimes-yes. It is my profession........read the full message on the official site

Obilic is a Serb communtiy surrounded by Kosova Albanians without a football team.. Economy can't support theselves let alone a football team. Are we talking about the same people? Regards to all from one of the current war zones... COME ON YOU COBBLERS!!! PS Great news that Direones failed in their attempt to upgarde themselves but then again it would have been a good sight seeing them relegated again first season up..

The Drilling Cobbler at 19:56:13 Sunday May 19 2002
Anon, I look forward to hearing some official lines from the club concerning this guy. To reiterate what I said earlier, surely the current board would not be prepared to do business - or even discuss the possibility of doing business - with someone as vile as you claim Stefano to be. I ask you though to put things into perspective - every mass murderer/rapist/burgler/speeding motorist etc is represented in court by someone suggesting that the accused is innocent. Why? Because there is big money in it. The fact that this guy represents high profile evil individuals means that for him there is even more money in it. It doesnt mean that he has actually committed any crime. Look at the OJ Simpson case. The recent Stephen Laurence one. Fairly clear cut in most peoples views, but still the accused were successfully defended by their legal teams. Lets all wait for some official statement made by the club before judging someone who we have never met and who we have just read about on the web.

One is a medioca ex footballer with some foreign backing and the other is a man who to say the least is a bit of a wrong 'un.Are we not all forgetting one thing here ,this is our football club we are talking about .I for one will be desperate for some body to give this club the backing it and its fans truely deserve but not at the exspense of our true idendity and good name ,for once in my life I agree with TCMP,I would rather struggle than be bought by a warlord or a consortium that has no intrest in the history of the club ,just a money making scheme that realy can't make much in the lower divs.

If the board kick the Di Stefano bid out then they are left with only one serious bidder so leaving them with a weak position. Why does Di Stefano want to be involved with NTFC? Is Fash a waster ? I think bearing in mind the flood of information the Club could rightly ignore the confidentiality agreements and tell us what the **** is going on. How long can thsi drag on for , I think its time for Fash to put up or shut up. He may not be to every bodys liking but he seems to be better than the alterantive . If he did take take control then I believe the ride wont be boring where ever we end up ggod or bad!

anon, firstly I did not compare his record with anyones.Secondly, I did not suggest that spending blood money on the cobblers is acceptable - I merely pointed out that 'dirty money' is better than no money. My mention of trafficking was merely looking at the worst possible situation that could occur - and whos to say that would not happen anyway with someone else in command who we know little/nothing about. His record is dodgy to say the least - but surely he would not be able to walk free in this country if his history is what people are suggesting. I know very little about the guy - indeed I had never heard of him until this week. Tony Clarkes words have probably added fuel to most peoples concerns - my view is that they are words of a politician making sure he is seen as politically correct - they may well be his genuine opinions but we would never know otherwise because of what he does. I'm sure that the current board would not be talking to this man if he is as bad as it appears.

Worry about ridicule by writing out the players we have, picking the team and thinking of the opponents. Even with the 6 who haven't signed we escaped by the slenderest of margins.
A Childs View at 12:37:43 Sunday May 19 2002
I despair - why can't things ever be simple for we Cobblers fans? The di Stefano thing is very worrying, I haven't got a clue about the facts of his involvement with various undesirables one way or the other, fact is we'll be the last to know anyway!! What I do know is that, right or wrong, this chap is tarnished before he starts, even if he is a legitimate character, I don't like the obvious associations and ridicule that could be levelled at the club. I'm still hoping the Fash deal is the one we end up with, anyone whose seen his interview on the ITV sport channel would probably agree - his plan for the club does stack up and represents a genuine way forward for us. Come on Council, wise up and hurry up. You'll lose a loss making white elephant and get an unbudgeted capital injection - if you need to, be brave and cust your losses to avoid making future losses. 7 months is a joke - simple process, value, accept offers, negotiate and sell - 2 months at most - get a move on!!!

The Drilling Cobbler at 9:44:11 Sunday May 19 2002
Almost everyone appears to be against Di Stefano taking over because apparently he's not a 'very nice man'. My gut feeling is that his motives are probably similar to those of Al Fayed - to get some positive publicity. Has he got a British passport? We should all remember one thing - dirty money is better than no money. And this notorious corrupt has loads of it! Likewise WWW. The McRitche saga was all about a dreamer who had NO money. What damage - apart from publicity - could this guy do to the club? Sell the players? Sell the ground? You cannot asset strip something without assets. Trafficking/laundering purposes perhaps, but he would simply be arrested if caught - the club wouldnt be closed down in those circumstances. I well be naive but I'm just trying to offer a alternative view.
Hotel Ender at 9:8:14 Sunday May 19 2002
It would seem to me that IF this Di Stefano is one of the two final bidders for the club it finally confirms the lie that Stonhill & Co will only sell if it is in the best interests of the club. If they are seriously considering selling to Di Stefano I for one would be extremely worried for the future of NTFC. I'm still not 100% sure about Fash either - but at least he has a football background.

final part: All Nikcevic's assets and companies were inherited by Giovanni Di Stefano, who claimed that it had been the wish of his blood brother.
anon at 16:30:56 Saturday May 18 2002
pt6: Radojica Nikcevic was assassinated on October 7, 1993 at 8.15 in the morning at 54, Vase Pelagica Street, some 20 meters far from the entrance to the First Belgrade Housing Cooperative Sumadija. He had come out of a huge company Mercedes and was walking towards the entrance. The assassin and his assistant, wearing workers' uniforms, were approaching him. After he had passed Nikcevic, the assassin fired two shots from a .44 caliber gun into the back of the victim's head. Then with his assistant he walked slowly to a Yugo, which was waiting for him. That car was later found in a nearby dead-end street, and it was discovered that it had been stolen.
anon at 16:29:26 Saturday May 18 2002
pt5: Dragan Mladenovic, an ex- police officer in Belgrade, claims that MUP (Serbian Ministry of the Interior) operates the traffic in drugs and that Radojica Nikcevic was in that line of business. He claims that Nikcevic was assassinated because he started to talk too much by men brought from abroad especially for this job. This story attracted further attention when Nikcevic's obituary signed by Pablo Escobar appeared in Belgrade newspapers. In response to these allegations, Di Stefano said: "Suppose we did meet him (i.e. Escobar). Why should we bring drugs to Yugoslavia all the way from South America when Turkey is much closer? Why should we need Escobar for this?"
anon at 16:29:6 Saturday May 18 2002
pt4: In January 1993, Di Stefano traveled to Bogota and Radojica Nikcevic accompanied him in his plane. Di Stefano explained that the reason for this visit to Colombia was to set the business of the Cine Colombia Company in order. He also told stories about buying the state-owned Banco Di Colombia. Nikcevic, on the other hand, said that the aim of the visit was the purchase of a chain of hotels in that country. Contrary to these explanations, there is a rumor circulating in Belgrade that Nikcevic controlled the drug traffic and that he went to Colombia on that business, in order to make contact with the Medellin cartel, whose head at the time was Pablo Escobar.

pt3 : Radojica Nikcevic met this rare bird in a French castle in 1992. Several weeks later, Di Stefano arrived in Belgrade and Yugoslavia, in his words "a land of vast possibilities".
anon at 16:27:6 Saturday May 18 2002
pt 2: Although he was passed off in Yugoslavia as the owner of the MGM film company, of the United Artist, an airline in Austria, a chain of 80 cinemas in Colombia, Di Stefano was actually an impostor who had served a time in England for an attempt to set up a bank without initial investment, and he had also been prosecuted for importing video tapes from Hong Kong. Actually, there was a link between the owner of a small Austrian airline and him - according to the reports in Austrian newspapers, Di Stefano swindled the man out of several hundred thousand Austrian shillings.

This sounds like Bull to me. Have either Fash or Di Stefano got the club at heart ? Look at the wilderness of the Foootball league as an example of how you cant make money out of professional football . As for floting the Town on the stock market , this guy must be in dreamland. We dont need dreamers we need a pragmatist with a love of the Town prepared to sink a few quid in. The town has one but unfortunatly he is running the club down the road. I dont think these are exciting times but worrying times. I'm not bothered about backgrounds or professions because the Chron is very selective about what it prints (if Mother Teresa wanted to buy us the Chron would present it in a bad light)

i see the friendly against watford is off. this means no home pre-season games and other games against rubbish oppositon. Our players will learn next to nothing from these friendlies and I believe the only reason that friendlies against poor teams have been arranged because they are scared of another pre season like last year where they were humiliated by bigger teams.

Its funny to read the posting at 10;36 by the drilling cobbler about who the possible second interested party are. I have, through a secret source, heard that this party have a high street outlet in most towns and cities and is the one favoured by the current board to take over the club. As i have no idea who the drilling cobbler is , it seems strange to have much the same story coming from a different source although i did not have a name offered to me. I really hope that someone comes in to take our beloved cobbs. to the next stage in our existance . On the subject of players who have or have not signed i must say that it does not instill much confidence in me that Broads is happy about Asa. signing on, i know he needs to be encouraged and may well become a very good player , but given our predicament dont you think we need people who can hit the pitch running .s

And what are these rumours?
The Drilling Cobbler at 10:36:6 Wednesday May 15 2002
So its WWW and a nother. Personally, I am glad that Bryan Richardson has been ruled out. From my own sources I believe the other bidder is the consortium led by the Freeserve guy. Which my source claims is the more likely to succeed. From a positive prospective, both are without doubt loaded - wether they are prepared to invest 'big' is another thing, something which time will only tell. Interesting that Fashanu is still involved though after all the rumours - including those spread by a certain ex-player who scored a decent goal against Cambridge - and a member of the current board who owns a large distribution company! The picture is still rather unclear however and I guess we will have to continue waiting sometime before we know the outcome.

Old time cynic at 19:56:18 Tuesday May 14 2002
Carlton TV are currently looking at doing a documentary on Fash, the Chief, and the running of a newly taken over football club, this indicates to me that they've been following Fash around with cameras, and he is soaking it all up - he doesn't actually need or want the takeover, just the publicity - as many of us have been saying on this board since October
A Childs View at 19:40:30 Tuesday May 14 2002
Been to Barcelona for a few days - visited the Nou Camp, different world!! Not much news, glad that Asa is close to signing - I hope the others do as well. In the current environment I'd take it whilst its offered, Dave Savage was a good player who ended up playing at a lower level - that, coupled with the takeover (if it ever happens) means they get stability and may be an exciting season. Of them, there's only Welchy who could really seek to better himself. The season ticket deadline thing is a bit cheeky, I've got mine and don't mind paying early, however, I totally understand anyone being peeved by the club over this - families have cash flow problems too!!

drilling cobbler, the council completed its valuation 2 months ago, as for any potential purchaser, they would have to do their own, if they have not done so then who is at fault, the council? the club? or those who say one thing on live radio and do otherwise in reality
Tinker at 19:8:42 Tuesday May 14 2002
A word to all the players who have not signed the deals put in front of them, remember the gravy train has stopped.
The Drilling Cobbler at 18:52:30 Tuesday May 14 2002
So its take-over update time tomorrow then! 2days before the latest deadline implemented for purchasing discounted season tickets. I sincerely hope that its specific for once, comments such as 'weeks not months' and 'lockin agreements imminent' are no longer acceptable. Lets have a statement on the WWW bid - afterall, if Fash can talk about it on national radio surely NTFC can. Is it or is it not likely to happen. Fash says it is, its time to confirm or deny. Finally, it does not take 6 months to get a valuation on any property, let alone a football ground. And with property prices going up all the time, does that mean that the original valuation is now out of date, thus enforcing the whole process to re-commence? Finally, my advice to the 6 players undecided on wether to sign contracts - Speak to Dave Savage!

A Childs View at 21:58:23 Thursday May 9 2002
Yeah - Welchy should have been in the squad, I've been arguing this for ages. He's better on crosses and has better distribution than calamity, he should be on the bench behind Seaman. The Danny Mills thing is getting a mixed reception, personally, I'm glad he's there. If we're playing someone good and getting a pasting we a player or two who can simply get stuck in and kick a few people - so long as he does it without getting sent off!! Team for Sweden will be Seaman, Cole, Mills, Rio, Sol, Gerrard, Scholes, Beckham, Owen, Heskey and probably Dyer on the left. The left side is the only question - Dyer was disappointing against Paraguay though, maybe Bridge or Hargreaves in place? I'm not sure what the great Sven will do on that one.

The Drilling Cobbler at 12:23:34 Thursday May 9 2002
John Frain not being named in the squad baffled me the most. With the lack of left sided players England are currently faced with, surely Frain would of been ideal - not only is he quick, an excellent passer of the ball and a strong headerer, he also would have offered versatility in that he can play at both left back and midfield. Wheres the justice?

So R&D - No one expected you to get as far as 6th position in a league full of clubs in administration? Your club may well fool the vast media circles into thinking that your 'achievements' have been produced on a shoe string, but the 'transfer fee not disclosed' label that accompanies every single one of your new signings does not wash with me! Why do they not just admit that Lowe cost around 1/4 million pounds? Is it (a) because they are worried that clubs may hike up their valuations on players when R&D coming sniffing or (b) Because Unkle Max doesnt want to upset the 100's of staff he has recently made redundant? No other club in the 3rd division has spent(possible with the exception of Hull) anywhere near the kind of money R&D have. And to finish behind the likes of Rochdale, Mansfield and Cheltenham is hardly something to rejoice over! When will the media finally stop praising Rushden for what they 'achieved' without looking at a balanced picture?
A Childs View at 22:42:35 Tuesday May 7 2002
Interesting stuff from R & D fans re Onandi Lowe - that figures with his performance yesterday, he was a class act in the first half and showed less than nothing second. Footballers are so fickle, lets just hope we sign some before the start of next year!!

lowe is a luxury player, in tight games sometimes they will win the game, sometimes they won't make an effect. i guess angell isn't in the manager's plans and so there is no need for him to stay.

I recall listening to the broadcast of the 2nd leg of Direones/Rochdale game and hearing the 1000 fans ( apparently they returned about 300) singing "bring on Northampton" at the end of the game. Wonder what they are singing now? However when all said and done it would have been nice for them to have joined us in the 2nd division as there would have been a guaranteed sell out at Sixfields, as it is we've lost one of our local derbies with Cam. utd going down. Isn't DR4E quiet. I wonder if he went yesterday, probably not he didn't go to any of the other games last season.
anon at 14:41:10 Tuesday May 7 2002
Drilling Cobbler, you went to Cardiff!! you mean that the paltry figure of 6 to 7000 was only achieved with the help of a few gloating cobblers fans making up the numbers? I remember Kettering taking a lot more to the final of the FA Trophy against Stamford, perhaps they are still the county's number 2 side?
The Drilling Cobbler at 14:27:3 Tuesday May 7 2002
I actually went to Cardiff yesterday and sat amongst the village idiots. What a moment for me when Larry came on with the score at 2-1. Announcing to anyone within earshot that he was about to haunt them again, he promply rattled the crossbar from 30yards and from the rebound Cheltenham scored the 3rd and decisive goal that killed R&D off! My smugness was then complete. 'clap, clap, clap clap clap, clap clap clap clap, RUSDEN was the only 'song' they could muster in an entire 90minutes! No noise, no passion, and no excitement from the 6500 'faithful' whatsoever. A thoroughly enjoyable day completed with many '2nd division' references on the journey home. 1 promotion in 5 years is dreadful considering the money at BT's disposal. Let us not forget they have the most expensive keeper in the 3rd division and probably the only 250000 striker in Lowe. Those 2 players alone cost more than the entire NTFC squad. There are no excuses!

MK18 Cobbler at 20:48:5 Monday May 6 2002
The approx 6-7,000 who supported R&D at Cardiff demonstrates that this new club built solely on one man's dreams has its limitations. I don't think comparisons with Wembley are valid but if we were in a play-off in Cardiff I thinkwe could be confident of taking 25,000. Having written that we wold be grateful for 4,000 R&D bums on our seats every other week and that is a sad comment on Max taking his bat and ball home.

Cardiff Cobbler at 19:46:12 Monday May 6 2002
Best part of the day for me down here was directing a load of R&D fans in completely the wrong direction. Strange really considering they were only about 1/4 mile from the stadium, which you can see from just about anywhere in Cardiff. See what happens when villagers go to the big city! Smallest crowd at the millenium for a footy match and the 11th game where the team in the south dressing room lost
A Childs View at 19:34:16 Monday May 6 2002
Dissappointing turnout from Direone's - they'll always be limited if that's the best they can muster. They were the better team in the first half but simply didn't come out in the second. Onandi Lowe looked great in the first half and couldn't kick the ball straight in the second? Why?? Still, who cares, they aren't coming up and we remain the biggest team in Northants. Sensible releases from KB (may be with the exception of Sollitt - he never had the luxury of playing behind a decent defence) - let's just hope the 6 all sign new contracts and that we can get at least 5/6 more players - last year the squad was small but next could be ridiculous!! Come on WWW, take us over and get some of your players turning out for the Town! Update Mr Hodder? Lockout agreement progress?

Andrews on the Barrack Road does a great line in fast and convenient take-out nosh. Their burgers are top drawer and the chips are like my my goals, first class. I know we all worry about foreigners handling food and the Turks down illegal immigrants down there at Andrews have addressed this beautifully. Their counters are so clean they look like fuc*ing mirrors. The price is just right also. For a cheeseburger and a savloy, diet coke and some chips will see you getting change for a tenner.

Just because my sirname rhymes with turd does not mean us oldies should not be allowed to attend football games. I observed with abohorrence that Sixfields Staduim does not cater for aged people. Just because we have faces like dehydrated prunes does not mean we can enjoy footy. There is little in the way of ramp access for our wheel chairs and as to try and get to the high parts of the ground without a Stanner Chairlift is beyond me.

Instead of talking about who we should have in the team we should be concentrating on encouraging Black, Asians and the disabled to play. Come on NTFC you need to adopt political correctness and you will rise up the leagues like an old ladies fart.
The Drilling Cobbler at 10:59:52 Friday May 3 2002
Apart from the quote "when Gabbi begins to age"! Judging by his inability to run more than 20 yards without rearing up I think the aging process within 3 chins occurred long before he signed his 450k contract kindly given to him by his mate Kev W! Hinesight is a wonderful thing - his signing at the time was greeted by yours truly with particular enthusiasm. kev B has this week been saying that the team will be fitter than ever come the new season - didnt his predecessor say something along very similar lines this time last year? A Gabbadini 'chin count' come August will confirm wether he has achieved that particular aim. 3 chins equals the same level as last season, 2 chins means that we may be able to compete with better sides on a fitness basis(Atkinsesque) and 1 solitary chin means that its time to put stacks of money on us winning the league, and Marco being top scorer in the 2nd division. A truly fit MG would without doubt be a huge asset.

Congratulation 9224. A mere lad talking reasoned sense. Whatever next? I need to go for a lie down now.
9224 at 10:11:52 Friday May 3 2002
Anyway, my views on all that are clear. Time to look forward. What we now need is a big target man, cover goalkeeper, and a creative midfield to provide a spark (weren't we sniffing around Scott Sellars this time last year - he's gone elsewhere now but someone like that) I reckon Gabbiadini could be the provider for us next year, slotting in behind Forrester and A.N.Other. I don't think Del is ready to play 90 minutes yet, at Cambridge he looked well out of his depth. Supersub for the first half of next year, and then phase him in gradually as Gabbi begins to age. Possibly need a cover centre-half as well. Other than that it's difficult to see how much more we need if we can keep players fit (and not suspended)
9224 at 10:5:59 Friday May 3 2002
I am a fairly new fan, my first 'regular' season was after Wembley '97. I was only 14 and living twenty-five minute drive from the stadium had to persuade my Dad (who always hated football, and any sport, until I made him take me to Wembley) to drive me to the matches. Anyway, we both became hooked and have held season tickets since so he is the most skilful player I've seen. I'd still rank his goal above those you mentioned - they'd be 2 and 3 respectively, with David Seal's second against Brentford in 1997 coming in fourth. I'd have kept him signed on, he made things happen, changed games and really never let us down. Like Seal any mistake he made was exaggerated out of all proportion. If he'd put in any performance as shocking as some of McGregor's he'd have been hounded out of town!!! He's also seems a nice bloke from the couple of times I've spoken to him. You call him a 'one-goal wonder' - but if given as many opportunities as others he'd have produced more from them!

Nosey Parker - Millwall v Cardiff play-off match??? Neither side got through to the final. But I bet the Cardiff thugs come out in force to greet their Stoke "friends" - there's quite a bit of history between em and with Stoke having beaten Cardiff to get to the final, I think they need more than the police down there!!!
Retained list at 8:3:59 Friday May 3 2002
Where was Frankie Large? I can understand Kim Book being on the way out but as for John Fairbrother and Graham Felton thats a mistake
Nosey Parker at 7:59:6 Friday May 3 2002
What a nightmare play off match.......Millwall V Cardiff..................I think Police leave would be cancelled for that weekend do you!!!
richie fan from nz at 3:31:38 Friday May 3 2002
cant see what fash is shagging around at, either he wants the club or he doesnt.i can smell a rat.
richie fan from nz at 3:28:25 Friday May 3 2002
only ten players on contract.kevs going to have to spend big bucks if hes looking for promotion.dont think welchie will stay foe peanuts either.
TRB Mark at 21:49:38 Thursday May 2 2002
Village Boy, I think you are mistaking me with some one else, I think it was "T" who was leaving I'boro. Cardiff fans performance last night bought back chilling memories of our play off game. Never been so frit at a football match!
Rodney at 20:8:28 Thursday May 2 2002
9224: you must be a fairly new Cobblers fan if Hodge really is the most skilful player you've seen in a claret shirt: Massey, Morley, Gilbert, Barnes etc. Hodge is well down the list. As for best Sixfields goal? Way behind Forrester v Brentford or Corazzin v Stoke. Goood goal, though, and it should have won goal of the month.
The Drilling Cobbler at 18:55:0 Thursday May 2 2002
receiving less money from the tv companies and probably paying out more in wages. Perhaps the 'new owners' have rubber stamped these offers? With the Diamonds probable promotion to division2, the 'floaters' are likely to be tempted to visit toytown as it is inevitable that they will be out performing us unless a positive takeover is confirmed - and the new owners are prepared to invest enough to ensure that we stay as the number 1 county team. Interesting to read the contents of Fashanu's inteview on Radio5 - 2/3 weeks and counting! Whilst I am sceptical about the Nigerian consortium and their intentions, it is hard not to get excited about their much publised plans and ambitions for NTFC. The others have all remained silent which infact worries me more - what are their motives to remain anon? Fash has at least announced his intentions publicly and at the same time has warranted us much needed publicity. Positives have only come out of it. Even if he doesnt succeed with his bid.
The Drilling Cobbler at 18:42:46 Thursday May 2 2002
No surprises in the 'retained' list ten. At 35(or thereabouts) and on almost 2000 a week it was inevitable that the Hodge was on his way out - he confirmed that to us at Huddersfield anyway. The 'luxury' of an experienced(at 25 he must be classed as one) goalkeeper is not something we can afford - the money can be directed into other areas such as midfield. Lets assume then that the 4 players departing is saving us 200k p.a. Broken down 100k Hodge, 50k Parkin and 25k each for Lopes and Dempsey. On the basis that the players being retained must surely have been offered comparable contracts to their present ones, and that they all re-sign, what money is actually left over to sign the 5 or 6 new players that are desperately required to push the club forward? With the collapse of ITV digital, theirs 200k(at least) less for us than last year. And with the club projecting losses of around 1/2 million, it will be interesting to see how they intend to reduce that given that we are likely to be
Village boy at 18:38:29 Thursday May 2 2002
I dont think we will take 40,000, but what happened to your missing 40,000? after your Wembly trip.?
George Bucks No1 Cobbler at 17:54:51 Thursday May 2 2002
Whilst I can agree to Hodgy going, I am very surprised at Sollitt going. Seems to be the same situation as three years ago, where again we had no one, after the irrepresable Steve Francis left. However maybe KB knows that Welchy will sign? Cant see anyone getting rid of our keepers with no back up and no money - unless of course your Twatkins who did that 3 years ago.....................
johnboy at 17:7:34 Thursday May 2 2002
i am glad that Hodge has gone.we could do better things with his money ,anyway we sat next to him at the Huddersfield away game and he was not interested in the game, and whether we were winning or losing ,one bit, we need players who have fighting spirit ,not one goal wonders.
Lone Ranger at 16:57:59 Thursday May 2 2002
I agree. Hi ho Hodge & away
Tonto at 16:8:42 Thursday May 2 2002
Fair enough, Hodge was skillful, but to have a player on the money that he was on only being able to play in 15 minute bursts is a waste.
9224 at 15:52:6 Thursday May 2 2002
Thanks for the memories Hodgie - all the best wherever you go. I hope it's Bristol Rovers. Shame that your talents weren't properly appreciated or used. You were the most skilful player I've seen in a Cobblers shirt, and scored the best goal I've seen at Sixfields (or anywhere else for that matter). Anyway, must look forward and hope that KB can do us proud next year as well despite this decision, which I will ALWAYS believe to be incorrect.
Vince at 15:37:54 Thursday May 2 2002
.....and there is the probability that some of the players offered new contracts will leave anyway. I would guess that Welch must have had other offers and maybe Hunt but not sure about the others. The TV money situation may also have meant that offers made a few weeks ago may have been reduced or withdrawn.
Vince at 15:34:48 Thursday May 2 2002
A bit hard on Sollitt, when he was signed from Kettering he was seen as a very good prospect and "one for the future". The times he did get a first team place it was generally in front of a very poor defence and although he had his fair share of gaffs which didn't help his confidence, he never really had a chance to prove himself. I hope he finds another club and does well. Not too surprised about Hodge, a bit of a luxury in the end and by all accounts he was one of the higher paid players. Parkin never really shone and although he improved a bit towards the end of the season I doubt if Broadhurst could have got much more out of him.

Marco with a late run (first time this year).
Phil at 15:20:25 Thursday May 2 2002
Yeah, its there now but it wasn't at the original time of posting

No Phil, I am not blind, it is there in black and white (or claret and White on the official site!!
LH at 14:55:18 Thursday May 2 2002
I would be surprised if Marco's ommission is nothing but an error.
Phil at 14:45:52 Thursday May 2 2002
Thanx Richard thats what I said, obviously Anon was blind and didnt see this
Richard at 14:34:33 Thursday May 2 2002
It had a list of the players still under contract, and he was not on that list either, hopefully we can use the money saved from Hodge, Sollitt and maybe Marco to fund 3 or 4 quality players, on of which has to be either a big striker (like Steve Howard) and we also need an attacking midfielder and a young goalkeeper to be back up for Welch.
We Want Ticket Watch at 13:26:31 Thursday May 2 2002
Come on Parker Junior, make yourself useful for once and let us know how many tickets the Village People have sold for their play off final compared to how many we sold.
anon at 13:6:27 Thursday May 2 2002
Phil, re Marco do you think that might have anything to do with the fact that he still has a year to run on his contract? !!
Phil at 13:1:30 Thursday May 2 2002
No mentionm of Marco Gabbiadini either being out of contract or on the cobblers books for next season...
AL at 12:51:33 Thursday May 2 2002
Information from the Cobblers Web site: Welch, Sampson, Hunt, Hunter, Hargreaves and Asamoah offered new contracts. While Sollitt, Hodge and Parkkin are released.
Richard at 11:28:22 Thursday May 2 2002
Any news on the takeover, when is the lockout being agreed and who is signing and leaving us.
Anon at 11:11:36 Thursday May 2 2002
Village Boy. I bet you don't take anywhere near 40,000 though!
Village boy at 10:32:29 Thursday May 2 2002
5000 tickets sold ,on sale for another4days watch this space before drawing any conclusions,

Did the house deal in Northampton fall through TRB?
Cardiff at 9:10:39 Thursday May 2 2002
Good thing its not Wembley, it would have been the lowest attendance ever for a playoff, it doesnt matter how good your resources are eventually its the volume (and quality) of fans that count - look at the Dons, they will gradually slip back to oblivion every season that they lose their marketability and will end up in Old Stratford rec!!! Come on the the Wolverton!!!
Phil at 0:47:5 Thursday May 2 2002
Is the direones final on tv if so on what station
TRB Mark at 21:28:36 Wednesday May 1 2002
Should direones win the play-off final, it will be a surreal experience for me to be able to WALK to an away game!

Look at this site and sign the petition. 30 clubs could go under. http://url.traq.it/t2.html?j=75&u=1
Anon at 19:26:1 Wednesday May 1 2002
Direones have sold "1000 tickets on first day" for Cardiff. It looks like with such massive demand on the first day of sales and with only 4 days left to sell tickets they are looking at taking 5000 total....very impressive!

I agree A Childs View, too mucjh said on here about other teams. I too dont care about any other teams apart from the Cobblers and this should be left for the cobblers fans. Dear Diamonds fans PLEASE find yourself yer own comment site and use that. P.S I agree with the anonymous guy Danielle Luck is fit.

Go Cheltenham...!
Anon at 10:17:50 Wednesday May 1 2002
You could argue that Dimones have already overtaken us, better ground, able to get better players, better youth system etc. But so what I'll still be watching the Cobblers come what may and I always look forward to the local derbies. So come on R&D lets see what you are really made of.
Anon at 9:53:47 Wednesday May 1 2002
Well if you dont care Raymond why make comment by trying to predict a score line, sounds very strange to me for someone who doesn't care Be honest for a change and admit like many others you would be shitting yourselves when the Diamonds overtake you, and dont laugh because it is going to happen and secretly you know its true.
Ray at 9:7:24 Wednesday May 1 2002
No - not at all. Unlike some I don't care if R&D get promoted or not.
NTFC@2view at 7:36:27 Wednesday May 1 2002
Village People will 'Go West'. Congratulations!

Well done the Direones....Prediction for the final - 4-3 to Cheltenham - NeilGrayson 93 minutes with the winner.
