Previous Cobblers Comments - October 1997
Jamie at 12:57:54 Friday October 31 97
I've just been placed back on the Cobblers mailing list after starting my second year at Staffordshire Uni (problems with my previous address). The only time I manage to read this site is with the Uni's computers, my computer at home still needs winding up. So it's great to be able to see all these groovy Town web pages again, especially the guestbook pages. I'll tell you what, though, all your chatting makes intersting viewing, better than Neighbours or Home and away anyday, have you thought of changing this into a Soap. You could have you guys as the neighbours conflicting with each other, gossiping etc, and all these moaning, pain in the arse Fulham fans could be the dodgy, unwelcome so and so's that visit ntfc street and get dumped out of our league. Keep up the good work on a great Cobblers site Ray, up the Town against Rovers this Saturday!
TRB Mark at 11:35:31 Friday October 31 97
1-1 v Gillingham, that should have said
TRB Mark at 11:34:26 Friday October 31 97
Already got the tickets Nadine!
I'm not sure the atmosphere was that much better at CG.
OK I would much prefer terracing, but the CG was like an antique and we were going nowhere there.
People forget how depressing (and quiet) it was when there was only 2,000. Then, everyone complained about the lack of atmosphere and that it all dissapeared over the cricket feild. For atmosphere, the game a couple of seasons ago at Sixfields (1-1) and the play-offs v Cardiff were pretty brilliant. And -5 is bloody cold wherever you are!
NTFC fan at 11:33:42 Friday October 31 97
Do you remember the NO SWEARING PLEASE signs that went up in front of the Hotel End? Ha ha - they made headlines in the Chron the week they put them in
The Insider at 11:27:16 Friday October 31 97
Did Jeremy Goss ever play for the Cobblers? According to the Norwich page on TeamTalk he did, but I'd dispute that. Daniel, you should write to John Dickie at Northampton Borough Council for info on Tull. And I'm going to disagree with you and say the atmosphere is better at Sixfields. The only thing I'd want to keep from the County Ground is my personal duckboard from the cricket side. I was going to create a water feature with it in my garden. (And I ran on the pitch to try to touch George Best in 1970 and lost a slip-on shoe in the mud).
NTFC fan at 11:27:1 Friday October 31 97
Nadine - OK, whatever
Ray at 11:12:0 Friday October 31 97
Sorry, but I agree about the County Ground. It may have been a tip but the atmosphere and history there knocks Sixfields into a cocked hat. Perhaps in 75 years or so when they are campaining for a new Stadium, people will have the same feelings about Sixfields. Freezing your nuts off on a cold Tuesday night was all part and parcel of it.
nad at 10:57:40 Friday October 31 97
One last thing... NTFC Fan: seems your attitude is from the same era as your school days. Get a life - and some friends
nadine at 10:56:32 Friday October 31 97
Six and NTFC Fan: I'm sorry but I disagree, there was nothing worse than freezing your bits off at the County Ground on a Tuesday night in the middle of December. You could turn up just before the match and go straight home, I however had to be there at 6 and was forced into the bar after every match.
nadine at 10:53:55 Friday October 31 97
Mark: I'll be there, 10-4, could sort you out with some tickets if you haven't got them all ready.
Daniel at 1:54:25 Friday October 31 97
I wonder if anyone can help..
I am currently researching for a channel 4 documentary on the life of Walter David Tull, who some of you may have heard of. He was Britain's first black footballer, and played for Northampton Town, I am told, for over a hundred games between 1908 - 1910.
If anyone has any info on the man at all, it would be much appreciated (and may even earn you an acknowledgement on the programme!!)
Thanks
Ray at 22:41:33 Thursday October 30 97
Nesha Adat (or however you spell it) did the interview. Nope I don't have a transcript. Did anyone actually hear it (apart from me?) Of course, you could always ring Radio Northampton and ask for it to be repeated :-)
TRB Mark at 20:19:36 Thursday October 30 97
Hey Nadine, I am going to Sixfields Virgin on Sunday to see the Full Monty. Will you be there?
TRB Mark at 20:18:4 Thursday October 30 97
Yeah welcome Jim. It is always nice to have a bit of sanity from other teams supporters, although I do like a good flame!!
TRB Mark at 20:16:44 Thursday October 30 97
Bugger, forgot about the radio interview too! Who interviewed you Ray? I was interviewed by Steve Riches (Ithink that was his name) and he is the most on the ball guy !
I think SeeeeeeAAAAAL will score on Saturday. I can feel it in my water.
Six at 19:28:54 Thursday October 30 97
NTFC fan > I know what you mean about the County Ground, but we were going nowhere with that place, just look at some of our players we have now, how many do you think would have played at the County Ground? - Not that many me thinks!!! and Ray I missed ya radio interview!!! - can you get a transcipt put on here? and send us an email with your predications!!!! - I stick my neck out and say Luton??? - anyone else?? oh and hello to NAD,T and TRB Marky mark!
Jim at 18:4:58 Thursday October 30 97
First of all I have to say that i'm sorry a fellow Fulham fan has abused your forum like Steve has. We are not all like that at Craven Cottage.
I would just like to say that you are wrong about one thing though. Your average home gate was NOT bigger than Fulhams last season, sorry. Fulham had the biggest home support every week and beat your crowd some weeks by 4,000. I can't comment about away games. Regards, Jim. PS. I think Fulham will easily be top four.
Ray at 13:34:35 Thursday October 30 97
The Site is being featured on Radio Northampton tonight (Thursday) between 5 and 7. Tune in and hear me make an arse of myself :-)
NTFC fan at 10:58:1 Thursday October 30 97
reply to Six - I think those days were better actually...nothing beat the County Ground on a misty November night with all the lights of the houses on over the cricket pitch and the fag smoke curling round the roof of the Hotel End. And no matter what division you are in its fantastic when you just demolish everyone, home/away/cups. Apart from Swansea that season I remember - still we can allow them that after wem ber lee
NTFC fan at 10:50:3 Thursday October 30 97
I must admit this chat thing gets quite addictive. As a result I partly apologise for my comments earlier in the week. Sorry to cause a ruck
NTFC fan at 10:47:52 Thursday October 30 97
And you don't have to catch the tube to Sixfields. The District line is rubbish. Even if Fulham win the European Cup in 2009 or whatever YOU WILL STILL have to catch the bloody District line to Cack Cottage to watch it. Lets move Fulham to Brackmills!! ho ho
Ray at 9:50:28 Thursday October 30 97
I assume that as the Fulham site is crap/not working/both - he would come here by preference anyway :-)
Gareth at 9:41:35 Thursday October 30 97
Ray, perhaps you can forward some of the comments to (sad) Steve. I
wouldn't want him to feel unloved.... Well maybe I do.
Ray at 9:39:46 Thursday October 30 97
Yep - we took 1750 - which excludes thos people who mingled inthe stand.
NTFC fan at 9:25:48 Thursday October 30 97
I can't believe Fulham Steve hasn't replied!!! NOT
Anon at 6:42:5 Thursday October 30 97
Reference the foul mouthed Fulham fan going on about our support I was at Fulam and would have thought that we had more than the 1,000 supporters present. Ray will confirm the numbers. Our support is terrific and Ian Atkins has been quick to praise it. Onwards and upwards!!!
Ray at 22:53:36 Wednesday October 29 97
Whoops - forgot to mention that I saw a load of Fulham supporters driving about Northampton last Saturday afternoon - LOL - didn't they know it was a home match?
TRB Mark at 20:43:18 Wednesday October 29 97
I don't have a sticker either Six (watcha marte!) Blimey, I thought the first Fulham fan who turned up earlier this week was a plonker but Steve.. Jeez!
Ray at 20:0:25 Wednesday October 29 97
..............and at least the Cobblers have a web site that works and is up to date {{{chortle}}}
Ray at 19:54:9 Wednesday October 29 97
Nope - I don't have a sticker in my car - I go one better - the car is claret!
Ray at 19:53:5 Wednesday October 29 97
OK - my turn for a bit of a go. Facts and figures time. Despite the moans about the "poor" support that the Cobblers have remember the following: We gave Fulham their biggest home crowd of the season last year, we took 1750 to the Fulham game and last year our average home AND away gate was bigger than Fulhams. Despite us being "non-league wankers" we still took a point away from home. If anyone is interested I've done a prediction for the finishing positions in the league and poor old Fulham finish nowhere. Anyone who wants the result of the division 6 months in advance let me know and I'll drop them an email. Anyone not from the email list care to hazard a guess on the four play off positions? You'll be surprised!
Six at 19:11:34 Wednesday October 29 97
oh - and I was there against Notts County (i was a pretty big crowd) 3-0 I still remember that fantastic Richard Hill goal!! in the first few mins!!! and the Adiy goal at the Spion Kop end!! - those were the days!! - no hold on a min - these are better days!!! right???? - arrrrrhhh. Richard Hill === what a player!!!
Six at 19:9:29 Wednesday October 29 97
Wow!! hasn't this page been busy today?? Hey NTFC dispite reading all TEN of your comments today, I fail to see much worth saying. You do know how to moan don't you? And as for Mr Fulham (I forget his name) isn't it funny how much he is behind Keegan and not Adams (the man who got them promoted before they had all the money!) specially when surely within 2 ro 3 years Keegan will have left success or not, I say not (well not this season) and then he will probably hate Keegan. Loyal supporters at Fulham, eh? Mickey Adams deserves a medal. BTW is there any truth in the rumour that Hereford didn't pay us for Grayson and that will STILL hold his contract? I HOPE SO!!!!! and 'T' = I give up!! and TRB Mark (hi mate) I want me cards!!! and Nadine = maybe next time?!?!?!?!? and Ray = Congrats about the awards mate, you deserve them, the wave files are on the way, honest!!! (yeah right!) and finally NTFC fan, yes the sticker in your car does make you sad, VERY SAD (sorry is Mark or Ray have one, but I would say that you don't!!!!!
TRB Mark at 18:20:21 Wednesday October 29 97
I was going to slag "NTFC Fan" but after the reply to "Steve" Fulham fan, which made me LOL yer, all right with me. Not the inellectual stuff I was expecting but funny!
Don at 18:5:10 Wednesday October 29 97
Sorry - message re-sent by mistake. What a pity Steve (16.38.41) can't
understand 'mode
Don at 17:51:27 Wednesday October 29 97
Glad to have discovered you - keep up the good work! Who else out there saw Mr Best score 6 ? Well, we
NTFC fan at 17:3:0 Wednesday October 29 97
Steve, mate, think you've got the wrong site. Try this one http://www.rudelittlepics@stayin.gotno.mates. Or http://www.toss.myself.off@~cause.no-one.else.will.uk. Sad man...
Steve at 16:38:41 Wednesday October 29 97
all your pitiful comments about Fulham and youre obviously totally green with envy of us. First of all girls, the cheap and not very loud at all chants of 'one Micky Adams' actually did us a favour coz it got our lads singing for Keegan So thanks shit heads.
It's sad that we won't be playing you wankers next year coz it's always fun kicking a few Town wankers to bits. we did it again on saturday as last year - You can fucking run fast i'll give you that.
Fuck the lot of you anyhow. Coz we are BIGGER and better than you'll ever fucking be small fry. AND YOU KNOW IT. So shut the fuck up you whimpering little non league size club you got no crowd even when your'e second. Only 1000 at fulham. We always take your place over. We took 3000 to carlisle. bye bye pesants.
NTFC fan at 15:31:33 Wednesday October 29 97
no, connection is fine, no problems. I wasn't at the match with GB scoring six but I think I have the programme (I think...)
Ray at 15:1:30 Wednesday October 29 97
BTW - you should know that Cobblers fans are never happy unless they have something to moan about :-)
Ray at 15:0:27 Wednesday October 29 97
hmmm - almost fisticuffs . The up to date list for the mailing list can be found at http://www.dur.ac.uk/~dcl0drt/waloc.list - buts its just a list of email addresses. NTFC - you having problems connecting? Anyone else having similar probs? Yep - I saw GB score 6! (and all his goals are also on the Cobblers Centenary Video - so buy it now!)
Don at 13:37:22 Wednesday October 29 97
Glad to have discovered you - keep up the good work! Who else out there saw Mr Best score 6 ? Well, we
NTFC fan at 13:32:14 Wednesday October 29 97
easy N!! I doubt you'd know me cause you sound a lot older. KUS was only built in the early seventies you know.
NTFC fan at 12:3:4 Wednesday October 29 97
Kevin - I've only got to a couple of games this season but I've been a little bit surprised with some of the comments I've heard. I mean, we're riding high and we're looking better than we have for years.....but we wouldn't be Northampton if we didn't have the whingers. Thank god the footie isn't doing as bad as the rugby.
n at 12:1:37 Wednesday October 29 97
and I'm adolescent? What do you call bragging about how much of a fan you allegedly are? So that's mature? Well I wish I could be as mature as you
nadine at 11:58:30 Wednesday October 29 97
Oh and I thought you were against mindless waffle - why mention KUS?
nadine at 11:57:0 Wednesday October 29 97
NTFC FAN: actually you miserable bugger, I went to KUS. I hope to God I don't know who you are because I don't remember having known such a miserable individual.
NTFC fan at 11:51:39 Wednesday October 29 97
Tor, my point exactly. You may have been visiting this site daily but there has been nothing here worthy of your comments recently. Thats all I'm saying. I too come into this page from overseas about 50% of the time and only get a connection about 10% of the time. So I like to read about footie, not waffle. In view of that I'd better shut up more often! PS Ray - do you have an up to date list of whos on the email list? Just wondering if any of my old Cobblers school mates are on line...anyone go to Kingsthorpe Upper School???
Ray at 10:5:43 Wednesday October 29 97
According to latest reports, Selley has a cracked tibia and will be out for 4 months.
Kevin Simons at 9:53:51 Wednesday October 29 97
Can't beat a good email ruck! 1. If Selley has broken his leg why did Wilkins say "he's got a bit of a sore shin"? The reason he got hurt in the first place was because he overran the ball then tried to pull out of the tackle. 2. We can't believe Atkins' comments about the whingers in the stand. We sat in the stand and have to say the support was tremendous and we didn't hear a single word of criticism of the team - and Atkins was forty yards away. Unless of course it was coming from the directors' box... My dad's so incensed he's going to ring the club today to tell them so. 3. Ray, for the AGM, why not start with a basic question of why are Granada allowed to run the stadium and leave refreshment bars closed when there's a full house, presumably in contravention of their management contract? Why do they employ stewards at the back of the West Stand to sit reading paperback novels? What is the current financial trading position of the club? The list can go on.....
Ray at 9:50:16 Wednesday October 29 97
Yep - the speed problem now appears to have been cured. Perhaps people are now forming an orderly queue :-) (Hi Tor - how is sunny Norway?)
Tor Aage at 9:18:59 Wednesday October 29 97
Ray, the page is not slow today.
Tor Aage Braathen at 9:17:49 Wednesday October 29 97
To NTFC fan.....
So you think this site looses visitors. I dont think so. We just dont leave a message everytime we get to this page. And do you think Ray has lost visitors from outside of the UK. Wake up. If you dont know it (or understand) the .no part of my E-mail adress means Norway.
Ray at 18:26:44 Tuesday October 28 97
The site appears to be pretty slow at the moment - its being investigated - so please bear with me - (and only press okay the once)
Ray at 18:22:51 Tuesday October 28 97
Well apart from the obvious answer "Why dont you ask him" - perhaps he has set the auto lock to prevent people going to sites that have the word virgin in the title :-)
NTFC fan at 17:40:21 Tuesday October 28 97
Anyone any idea why the cobblers heaven site has been blocked by my employer? Not full of dodgy pictures is it?
NTFC fan at 16:5:4 Tuesday October 28 97
And I bet I was the only bloke on this site to see Northampton vs Notts County in the Freight Rover Trophy in about 87 or 88. Aidy Mann scored. Only about 10 people turned up. And I still have a 'Lets move the Cobblers to Brackmills!!!' sticker in my car. Which is a bit on the sad side, actually
NTFC fan at 15:59:52 Tuesday October 28 97
Look I'm a big enough fan to find purple tinsel from my tinsel wig in my bed SIX MONTHS after Wembley. Or maybe that just shows I don't wash my sheets, I don't know. Criticise my comments but not my fan worthiness! I also cried when we lost 2-1 to Newcastle in the FA Cup years back.
Ray at 15:12:39 Tuesday October 28 97
"This page for is comments"??? What the hell am I saying? btw - please press the button ONCE only!
Ray at 15:10:15 Tuesday October 28 97
This page for is comments/messages/anything anyone wants to say. Perhaps it should be noted that this page actually only constitutes 1.7% of the total site and old comments making up 7%. Surely there is something worthwhile in the other 91.4%?
TRB Mark at 14:45:36 Tuesday October 28 97
Well, NTFC "fan" why don't you get the ball rolling again by contributing a few pearls of footballing wisdom of your own? The site has won the award for ALL of it , not just the comments page, sureley?
NTFC fan at 11:47:57 Tuesday October 28 97
I am surprised this thing won any awards at all because whenever I come here its full of Nadine etc chatting to each other about a load of old crap. PLEASE keep your adolescent chat off this page because the page is losing vistors, I promise you. Earlier this year there was a lot of interesting comments on this page, messages from overseas etc.
Now we have you guys and some idiots encouraged by your waffle.

Six: shame about tonight, I'll have to get drunk and throw myself at somebody else instead! Mark, what are you doing this evening??!!
nadine at 10:31:22 Tuesday October 28 97
Six and T: hang on, what's all this about pressies? Have I've missed something?
Phil Jenkins at 9:29:55 Tuesday October 28 97
ah - I honestly thought Cobblers was the nickname of Fulham. Apologies...
Six at 21:38:54 Monday October 27 97
So 'T' your a VIP are you **rasises his eyebrows** Give me a clue to ya pressie (and wheres my email?)
TRB Mark at 21:37:7 Monday October 27 97
I wish I could keep off this thing!
Paul Jenkins. We beat Fulham last year too, but you won't this season in the league will you?
TRb Mark at 19:12:47 Monday October 27 97
Bugger, I forgot to ask Fulham Paul if he wanted any Christmas cards! BTW, if anyone IS thinking of purchasing any, they will be on sale at the Trust AGM on Nov 6th .
TRB Mark at 18:16:6 Monday October 27 97
Oh, hi "T" have you been away then? Nah, not interested in little girlies "T". Nigel , my "mate" was just trying to shift attention onto me after the police caught him hanging around school gates! When is the gig? Ray, it seems that your site getting awardss (well done btw) is attracting a few idiots! Oh well, the price of fame an all that!
Ray at 17:44:45 Monday October 27 97
Phil: Your point? (assuming you have one) Valarie: Actually they were called Pugh, Pugh, Barney McGrew, Cuthbert, Dibble and Cobb :-)
T. at 16:23:18 Monday October 27 97
Poor, poor Sean !
Six I know you can think of a suitable pressie, surprise me. TRBMark ewhy don't you come to the gig aswell. It is a private function but I'm a VP and can get you in !

Valerie Pritchared at 15:57:20 Monday October 27 97
Is it true that Sixfields is so called cause the designer had six dogs called Pugh, Souce, Monkey, Cock, Bummer and Lard?
Phil Jenkins at 15:47:23 Monday October 27 97
Peterborough beat Fulham last year you pansies
Yogesh at 15:36:45 Monday October 27 97
Yeah, just read the same on the Fulham web site. He also has lacerations on his ankles which had a bit of ointment put on. They say they want Denis Casey to reimburse this. Allegedly Mick Hucknall was at the game too and said that the Northampton player 'definitely dived'
TRB Mark at 14:7:19 Monday October 27 97
Fulham Paul has since informed me that Selly has a broken leg and Fulham are looking to sue the player concerned (dont know who it is). Also he sez that Gayle is quoted as saying that "We kicked them a bit and they did'nt like it". Thus confirming his suspicions that we had sentenced all of their players to death by kicking. Funny how Ray Wilkins did'nt think we were at all physical, according to todays Chron
Ray at 9:49:26 Monday October 27 97
Ah!
TRB Mark at 9:18:36 Monday October 27 97
The Cobblers one (walocDurham ect)
Ray at 9:5:43 Monday October 27 97
Which chat room Mark? Sorry about the paragraphs - this is done deliberately because some bright spark one day decided to cut and past whole wodges of text and filled up the server.
TRB Mark at 8:57:59 Monday October 27 97
This was my followup to Paul' s comments. (Just thought I would give you something to read on a Monday morning!)
"Paul, I am not condoning malicious fouls on anybody. I can't
beleive that any Cobblers player would seek to end the career of a
a fellow proffesional. But we are not a team of shirkers or ponces,
(unlike pesh). Shaun Parrish has suffered a depressed cheekbone
(elbowed) broken nose and now fractured fibula, all in the space
of a year! You don't hear him whining! The ref could have give
us at least 3 fouls in the first 5 minutes for flailing elbows, esp
from your No 9 so Fulham were obviously told to sneak em' in
against "Physical " Northampton."
Mark
P.S. I am always happy with a point, pity we could'nt have taken
3 like we usually do.
TRB Mark at 8:55:46 Monday October 27 97
My bit starts It seems.. and finishes with Bollox! (Could'nt insert a paragraph Ray!)
trb Mark at 8:54:9 Monday October 27 97
I posted the comment below in the chat room and Paul, the Fulham fan sent the following response.
ssage text written by INTERNET:mark.pacan@which.net
>It seems to me that just because Fulham have spent a shit load of
money on players, that those players deserve extra special
protection from the ref, which is bollox!<
I couldn't agree more... spending money on 'big time charlies' does not
give us any right to extra special attention whatsoever. And I for one
wouldn't want any. HOWEVER I can harldy agree that Fulham players fainted
injury or fouls... to the contrary we were trying to WIN the game and time
was important... My main problem with yesterday was actually not the game
itself (which I thought was quite good, it usually is when we play each
other) it was the foul on Selley which looks like possible even ending the
lads career just ONE week after we paid £500 grand for him... The tackle
was OTT and malicious. I should hope that no football fan could condone
such a tackle.
Paul. PS: I should think you was happy with the point
Kevin Simons at 8:19:15 Monday October 27 97
I agree with Mark about Pesch. He handled the ball more times than a Harlem Globetrotter with the goal looking decidely dodgy; he clearly used both hands to control the ball. Some of our challenges were fierce, but Pesch went down as if he'd been mortally wounded and clearly conned the ref throughout the game. I like the way Paul omits to mention the treatment dished out to Seal. (Thought Potter disrupted the balance, but didn't Gibb play well second half at full back?)
TRB Mark at 23:31:53 Sunday October 26 97
Seasider, my only complaint against Blackpool is that we play you on a Tuesday evening in November, thus, for this season at least, denying us a good piss up while we top up the ol' tan!
SIMON at 22:39:42 Sunday October 26 97
Congratulations Ray on being the "Soccernet site of the week".It must take a lot of hard work.Hopefully it should get you a lot of extra visits to the site.Does anyone have any idea of how many Cobblers fans were at Fulham yesterday? The highlight for me after Gayles goal was singing "theres only one Mickey Adams" at halftime.Keegan and Wilkins must have hated it!!!!!
drew at 20:48:10 Sunday October 26 97
Looks like a great site , think your having a great season ? you aint been to the seaside.
Keep up the good work with a great site & have a great season except against the mighty BLACKPOOL.

Six at 20:13:22 Sunday October 26 97
hee hee! An excellent result that nor only keeps us in 2nd but keeps Fulham still in the bottom half of the table!!
Ray at 18:28:41 Sunday October 26 97
You forgot to mention that their Web Page doesnt work :-). BTW did anyone notice that the Cobbs Site got another award over the weekend? Thought not.
TRB Mark at 17:38:43 Sunday October 26 97
You should have payed the ref even more money then Paul, then you would have had 100% of the 50/50 decisions go your way instead of 95%. Pesch is a tart and a waste of 1 mill. All Fulham have done is succeed in inflating the lower division transfer market. Atkins has done a brilliant job with no money and is worth 10 of Ray wilkins who is a managerial flop, so don't come here with your whining sob stories. Did I miss anything out?
Paul at 12:43:34 Sunday October 26 97
Very dissapointed with the way you played at Fulham saturday. Thought you were better than that... all you did was kick and rush, kick being the main word. Thanks for doing Selley for us, the poor bastard only just recovered from breaking the same leg... Funny that it was THAT leg your guy went for.... As for Pesci, you kicked lumps out of him all day too. Not Impressed, you won't go anywhere playing like that which is a shame cos' it would have been nice to play you at Wembley and between us we could have guaranteed a sell out.
I suppose I'm bias but I thought you were dead lucky to get the point although Woody done you proud he's a great keeper.
Come on you whites.

For those of you interested, there is a link to New England Revolution from http://web.ukonline.co.uk/ntfc/good.htm (which is a listing of all the "Sites of the Week" for 1996. (I'd turn images off before you go there though)
John Morgan at 11:7:12 Saturday October 25 97
looked in on the morning of the Fulham match. Just to add to ray's coments on Potter I understand he was the subject of a £300,000 transferf rom Southampton to WBA only last January but has hardly featured in the West Brom first team. Ian Atkins knows him from Potter's time as a youth team player at Bimingham City. Let's hope we show money bags Fulham a trick ot two.

The New England Revolution were knocked out out of the playoffs in the Quarter finals. They were fourth in the Eastern Division and eighth in the league :( not to good when you consider there are only ten teams in the league so far.
TRB Mark at 0:51:26 Saturday October 25 97

HA HA Kidding! By the way Mark, The boston Bruins are tied for second in the Northeast Division and third in the league. Eric
Eric Hodges at 23:50:12 Friday October 24 97
Well Ray, I would be delighted to buy everyone a pint, If you can fit 7000 straws in the glass. I might spring for two pints just to make it easier on everyone :)
TrB Mark at 20:40:23 Friday October 24 97
Yes Nadine you can have a complimentary pack- oh sorry you meant christmas cards!
Blimey, first you try and weadle a bit o' gossip out of our Eric, then you are asking for free cards! I would give you them honestly BUT I have forked out £600 of my own money to do the cards and I have to get that back before I can even give the club any money-so get buying folks!

Just wanted to drop a note to all you fine Cobbler fans and say that my wife and I were the people who housed Mark Pacan during his stay in Albuquerque, New Mexico U.S.A. We really quite enjoyed having him as a guest in our home and he is a great representitive for the U.K. Maybe someday we will get a chance to meet some of you wonderful people when we return the favor and visit Mark and family. £1000 a day???? Seriously??? I'm quite prepared to raise the matter of Granada at the Trust meeting - the question is - whats the question? I'm not sure that the Trust can do anything about the situation. Does anyone have any information about the current contract, terms etc.?
Kevin Simons at 12:13:53 Thursday October 23 97
Why did Rennie start on Tuesday? He looks as if the step up a division has overtaken him, especially for pace. According to one Sunday paper, Atkins turned down an offer from Scarborough for Conway, who sounded mighty cheesed off when I spoke to him at half time. Seems the two of them just don't see eye-to-eye. And Ray, I don't know how the council lose £1000 a day (day not week!). Is there a Trust member out there who can raise the Granada problem at the forthcoming Trust AGM?

Well, this should be the start of a new para if it worked
Ray at 9:0:23 Wednesday October 22 97
Sorry - it will be one long string of text.
Ian Platt at 4:19:42 Wednesday October 22 97
Seems to have worked fine, although it has altered the way

Or will it always turn it out as a continuous string of text
no matter what I do?
Ian Platt at 4:14:41 Wednesday October 22 97
Yes Ray, the box you type in and I am using frames.
Nadine, does your mate Tim Vernon have an e-mail address?
Or do Avalon Print have one?
Ray, I have followed your advice on keeping everything in
sight, we'll see how it transmits!

Not sure who does the editing for the programme. Any message to the Club will reach them via ntfc@ukonline.co.uk by email.
Ray at 9:24:16 Tuesday October 21 97
Which box are your referring to Ian? The one you type in? Is it when you use frames (I havent checked). If you insert a carriage return this is automaticaly stripped from the message so just hit return when you get to the end of the bit you can see.
I. Platt at 1:25:51 Tuesday October 21 97
Ray, can you adjust the length of the line in this box? When I get to here I can no longer see what I have written and typos such as the one below occur. For instance at the minute all I can "see" is from "longer" to "occur" the rest is hidden.
Ian Platt at 1:22:11 Tuesday October 21 97
Ray, who prepares/edits the Cobblers programme? Do they have an e-mail address or even a snail mail address?
address?
I want to predict that we will be in the playoff final again this season. (Of course I may be biased as that would give me a good excuse to come for a visit again!)
Ray at 0:21:49 Tuesday October 21 97
How come the council is losing £1000 a week? How is the contract serviced? Anyone know? I assume that if Granada want out then the council should be looking for an alternative provider. Anyone fancy having a go?

Re Granada, my brother tapped Tony Clarke on the shoulder at the Wigan game to complain that there wasn't even a bag of crisps left at half time in the West Stand. He said that Granada didn't want the contract and would be "out within a month". Well, they're still here. We also spoke to Rebecca Kerr after the game about it. She said Tony Ansell wanted the catering, but will not assume all the other stadium services (e.g. booking office) and added that the Council are losing a thousand pounds a day at Sixfields!
Six at 18:1:13 Monday October 20 97

Thanks for the welcome back folks! Yes, I am definately in favour of starting a petition, or something. Talk to you soon Ray- I work from home so you can phone anytime, even about the COBBLERS CHRISTMAS CARDS (plug plug)
Robert Dunkley at 21:49:5 Sunday October 19 97
Have we gone all quiet, have I got a problem or has there been no postings to the group since Friday? Also, is Sean Parrish's leg not broken. Anglia Kick Off said he was let home from hospital with no mention of 9suspected) broken leg.
Also, I was at the Motor Show in London, I saw a Cobblers fan on one of the stalls and when on a stall, it had a web site. No space to enter url, it was a Apple MAc. Went to file and opened by website , then tried NAtion rubbish, but stall girl got ratty with me saying what have you done, you can't surf on the net-LOL!
simon at 15:59:46 Sunday October 19 97
hello
Ray at 10:8:5 Sunday October 19 97
Welcome back Mark. I'll ring you early next week. The spectre of Granada running the catering services at Sixfields appears now to becoming a major cause of concern for the supporters. I have received email for the club (which I have passed on). Feel free to express your own views by mailing them at ntfc@ukonline.co.uk and, although I hold out little hope for anything to be done, we may start a groundswell that may bring about some improvement! Anyone any thoughts on petitioning the council?
Six at 1:34:24 Sunday October 19 97
Hey Nadine!! We scored a goal, the curse has been lifted, so your not gonna ban me from sixfields then? (hee hee!) and Hello Mark (welcome back matey!)
TRB Mark at 1:8:35 Sunday October 19 97
Thanks, Nadine, you say the sexiest of thangs, (we know it was'nt you who made that crude comment about Roy)
"T" It was good to see you with your young Ladies-hope they enjoyed dribbling over Ali's dribbling!
I don't think that the challenge on Sean was intentional, judging by the sympatetic (and sporting) way that our players responded to the "culprit's" sending off.
Rob. About the food at Sixfields you raise an interesting point, one which I intend to pursue further. I have to admit that I totally lost it (much to my wife's embarresment) with those who serve the food at the East Stand/ North Stand Junction. I an facking sick to death of there never being any veggie pasties. Is it too much to ask that whoever is responsible to at least get adequate supplies in? And £1.60 for a large WARM, yes WARM coke, is nothing short of a scandal-and we are trying to make this a family club? Anyway, to cut a short story shorter , my rantings were pointed out to the police , who I met half way and and explained my piss-ofedness, before they had a chance to nick me. They were in complete agreement with me so I shall make a formal complaint. We fans are ripped off too much. Jeez, they would'nt stand for this in America, so why should we? And if I see one more of those greasy haired servers, wipe their head before handling food, I shall contact the trading standards, or the health inspectors. Rant over.
Kevin Simons at 21:43:50 Saturday October 18 97
Carl Heggs: read my earlier emails. Today QED.
Robert Dunkley at 20:29:47 Saturday October 18 97
Nice to see Rob & Ray after Gillingham, although the day was somwhat soured after Sean Parrish's injury. Although I had agood view , I just a foul and Sen on the ground. When He past me down the tunnel, his leggs were strapped together. Obviously not a good sign, however, I overheard some Gillingham fans in Burger King, who said it was an accident. I'm not so sure, I would like to have a look at some video fottage. On another note, Pall MAll are useless. For the second gem in a row for me at half-time I have got to the front of the queue and they have run out of hot food, and why on earth was the middle serveing point closed. How many more years are Pall Mall running Sixfields? RE: The game, stunning goals from Gayley and Carl Heggs. Heggs looked very impressive, so did Woody. The ref Mr Singh was a nightmare. I heard with dread that West is coming for another month. he looks out of condition badly. Also, JAson has gone for £30k to Rotherham, apprantlky he only cost us £25k, is this right?
Ray at 10:45:15 Saturday October 18 97
Feel free to meet up with Robert Dunkley and myself immediately after the Gills game at seat S116 West stand.
nadine at 10:42:41 Saturday October 18 97
Oh Mark - it is so good to have you and your philosophic mind back
TRB Mark-back in Blighty , Yeah! at 10:8:5 Saturday October 18 97
Much as I like America, it's good to be BACK! Especially with a footie match to blow away the jet lag. The mood seems to have changed from one of jocularity at finding ourselves near the top, to one who sudenly suffers from vertigo. I think we need a win, and a Seal goal to put us back on track, otherwise I fear what Ray said about a slow decline actually happening. You can take a Cobblers fan out of pessimistic situation but you can't take the pessimission out of a Cobblers fan- or something like that!

Nah - I got no views except to leave IA to get on with it as best he can with the resources available. All I hope is that we dont go into a slow decline this season as some of the players begin to realise that they cant really cut the mustard in this division.
Six at 18:36:18 Wednesday October 15 97

Kevin Simons at 8:35:22 Wednesday October 15 97
Just goes to show that not many Internet users go to the away games. Especially those who opted for Diamonds v Hereford! Did anyone hear 5 Live last night? Hereford haven't played their players for several weeks so I wondered if we've received the money for Larry. Presume Nadine was referring to the Chron MoM, but then I've always had doubts about Andy Roberts.
Ray at 23:29:30 Tuesday October 14 97
Lee played for the reserves yesterday and scored one of the two goals (Conway got the other) and the stiffs remain top of the league! Van Dullemann also returned after his hernia op!
Six at 18:3:49 Tuesday October 14 97
looks like the same is happening with Warner that happened with Cahill?? Atkins doesn't wanna push them into regular football too soon (which is quite right!) so they get bored and leave?? (shame!) Anyone have any views on the subject, I bet you do Ray!! (hey Nadine how long will it take Ray-ski to answer me??) Give us a call Nadge..

Nadine, I still await my email!!! and my pressie! and once again hello 'T'......(yawn!)
Ray at 17:40:16 Tuesday October 14 97
Well with all this discussion of Man of the Match I expected a pile of votes - how many have I had? 2!
:-((
Gareth at 15:33:38 Tuesday October 14 97
I wouldn't say Roy was man of the match. The midfield got a crick in their encks thru watching the long balls. Woody was probably my man of the match, although the ref also had a great game.
nadine at 10:42:9 Tuesday October 14 97
six: it was a wonderful pressie - thank you. Hey my Roy got Man Of the Match on Sat!
Ray at 8:56:37 Tuesday October 14 97
I just KNEW there was a reason Six! (although I had put it down tothe kiss of death from the Manager of the Month Award)
Six at 18:46:2 Monday October 13 97
Hey Ray, have you noticed that ever since I asked you to put the goal scorers link on this site, we havn't scored a goal!!!! (eeeekkkkk!) Sorry!!! oh and BTW I agree about Quinn - once a striker always a striker, we should get him in, I say dont worry about the size of the squad, pick the players that are playing well. Maybe get Jason White back to have another look at him, if he is playing well then it may be worth keeping hold of him for a while, if not then I'm sure we can flog him to Rotherham! Oh and Nadine sorry I had to go this morning, spaek to you soon, okay? Have ya played ya tape yet???? and hello 'T' if your out there?!?!?!?!
Kevin Simons at 12:49:37 Monday October 13 97
Did you hear IA's comment on Anglia about Jimmy Quinn "once a striker always a striker" . Funny how Phil Stant's suddenly dried up at the age of 35. Gayle's reputation must have got to the ref on Saturday as he didn't get one decision in his favour even when he was sandwiched between one defender backing in and another climbing on his shoulders. I got the impression Lee only started in the hope of improve the chances of him being loaned out; he's hardly been setting the reserves alight.
nadine at 12:22:39 Monday October 13 97
ok, who's the idiot joker?
Robert Dunkley at 19:4:39 Sunday October 12 97
According to Nationwide Jason white is to go to Rotherham for 30K. IA was on Kick Off, apparatly he tried to sign Jimmy Quinn!! Hw was unhappy with the perrformance of the strikers. I don't get why Atkins does not get it that Christian Lee is only good as an out-and out striker it seems that GAyle has been sussed.
Kevin Simons at 18:37:2 Sunday October 12 97
Not to be too critical, but why on earth did Chris Lee start in midfiled ahead of the likes of Heggs, Conway and Peer? He was awful and lost Donovan for the goal. What does Heggs have to do? We need to start scoring from midfield and Parrish looks increasinly out of touch.
Nadine at 15:56:38 Sunday October 12 97
Oh I love Roy Hunter and I want his cock!
Ray at 11:54:46 Sunday October 12 97
Don't forget to give me a ring when you get back Mark. You have my number?
Ray at 1:1:10 Sunday October 12 97
Yep - we went down for our first away deafet since 22nd. March, I didnt manage to get to the R&D game and Hereford lost by the odd goal - and as it turned out Grayson didnt play - presumed injured.
TRB Mark at 21:40:15 Saturday October 11 97
Ray, I have done 5 tv interviews for New Mexico telly this week coz I painted one of the official posters for the Albuquerque balloon fiesta. They have three channels broadcasting from the event. I wanted a photo of me, wearing my Cobbs shirt, being interviewed by U.S. TV with a backdrop of 20,000 people and 800 hot air balloons. Could have looked quite good in the Chron!Except I did'nt do it.
See we lost against Grimsby although I half expected us to go down sooner or later. Who won between Diremonds and Hereford? I never did see the England game cos the tossers did'nt show it! Roll on next week to see us stuff Gillingham.
Six at 16:7:36 Saturday October 11 97

Six at 16:6:15 Saturday October 11 97
Hey 'T' come and jump on me (my foot I mean!!!!) in December then, but can I wait that long (hee hee!) and Nadine any news from your admirer???? and the tapes on its way!!!!! Whats the truth in Atkins wanting to buy another forward (Roberts?) hasn't he got enough of em right now and doesn't he try to sign Roberts EVERY season???
Mark the Italy game is on 8pm SKY and 10pm ITV?? - but I think I'll miss it.....DARN!!!!!!
oh and good luck to Colchester today!!! (never thought I'd say THAT!)

nadine at 16:20:51 Friday October 10 97
hey Six, you told me your last gig was in Nov. Is this still true?

Hey I'm back from Germany, thanks to Sky news I found out the Milwall result but not the scorers so I rang my mum and the poor old thing had problems dealing with teletext and first of all gave me snooker scores and tolod me someone called Simpson and Hanter had scored.
Thanks for the E-mail Six and I would have come to the gig at the Bull but I was in Germany. See you at the cricket club in December (can you wait that long ?)
I'll be going to support Larry on Saturday being an Irthlingborough chick, and my mum and dad live just over the road from the ground. I'll be in th Hereford end of course wearing my Cobblers shirt and shouting "LARRY, LARRY, LARRY....." is Norton still there ?
Ray at 9:9:32 Friday October 10 97
Ray comes here every day and takes a look - havent got a lot worth saying at the moment though :-) - and whats this US TV Star business?
I know you are dieing to tell us.
TRB Mark (US TV Star) at 5:14:13 Friday October 10 97
Nadine, Six, do something useful for me and post the time (GMT) that the Italy-England game starts.
The folks I"m staying with have ESPN which is showing the match live but its gonna be at some goofy time here like 1.30 in the afternoon. Ta! Whats happened to Ray and the Cobblers Chat?
Six at 0:16:55 Friday October 10 97

Anon at 21:10:13 Thursday October 9 97

nadine at 13:31:24 Wednesday October 8 97

nadine at 13:30:57 Wednesday October 8 97
hey Six, I'm desperately ill - I need some sympathy!!! (And pressies would be nice to!)
Six at 0:19:0 Tuesday October 7 97
Hey Nadine....yep you dont sound too well...call me!
Kevin Simons at 12:35:43 Monday October 6 97
Difficult to pick a man of the match at Southend. Warburton was cruising it until a suicidal backpass. Hunter, Woodman, Brightwell. Clarkson all had steady games. BUT are we seriously going to sign Colin West? He won nought in the air, missed what looked a sitter from 14 yards and never pressured their defenders. We looked much better with Heggs on. There's only one Johnny Gayle...!
nadine at 9:1:29 Monday October 6 97
I do that every time don't I? Sorry - I'm not well......
six at 9:0:55 Monday October 6 97
it is on!!! Sorry about Friday, I had to go for my lunch later. I'll call you soon xxxxxxx
Six at 18:12:46 Sunday October 5 97

The Guru at 20:54:49 Saturday October 4 97

Ray at 23:17:20 Thursday October 2 97
BTW- before I forget - the Middlesborough front page contains 58 animated gif files - so make sure you dont leave it runnin gcos it dont half make your computer go slow!
Ray at 22:54:2 Thursday October 2 97
See we lost out on the Nationwide site again this week folks. Anyone care to load the Middlesborough Site that won with images on and time how long it takes to load - you wont need a second hand - lol. Next point of attack is the Soccernet Site. Email them at links@soccernet.com !!
Ray at 22:49:57 Thursday October 2 97
The way the scheme is supposed to work is that people pay to advertised their goods and a site is randomly generated in the box at the top. I should get paid 5 cents/click, 0.25 cents/view. So far it aint working - 20 clicks/view - total credit NIL - look slike another con folks but persevere for the moment. I'll report progress.
Six at 22:33:33 Thursday October 2 97
Ray, I went in and clicked on loads of things, hope it helped mate!
Ray at 22:26:37 Thursday October 2 97
There does appear to be a bit of a problem with the banner. So far most people have clicked on it (thank you) but no credits are being given to me. Still carry on for the time being please but if it isn't sorted out I'll remove it.
Six at 19:32:33 Thursday October 2 97
Well Nadine DONT put a good word in for me then (hee hee!)
nadine at 15:54:36 Thursday October 2 97
with all this cash your making Ray - drinks are on you next home game?!
nadine at 15:53:14 Thursday October 2 97
Ray: it's been a long time since I was told to behave, I like it!!
Six: your welcome to Laura - her boyfriend might not agree though. We did have an interesting chat about somebody claiming to know me asking for cheap tickets whilst I was away. Know anything about that?!
We are working together all day tomorrow! And Woody and Dean Peer have promised to visit me again!
Ray at 23:34:21 Wednesday October 1 97
Cheers again Six. Please dont forget that you have to load the image before clicking on the banner - and you never know it may take you somewhere you actually want to go!
Six at 20:3:42 Wednesday October 1 97
Mark, cool!! - Well my name band will be playing there next year so I'll see you there matey! (I hope you clicked on Ray's sponser before you wrote that message! - I did!)
TRB Yankee Mark at 19:45:4 Wednesday October 1 97
Hey, Six, ther is nothing wrong with the Bull on a Friday night, its my regular hangout-when are you playing? I don't get back until the 17th October.
I would have gone down to cheer Larry but I probably would have gone to Southend. Instead, I shall be working my butt off in at the Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta!
I think the insider has hit the nail on the head as far as the police go. They seem incapable of reading a situation.
Six at 15:47:40 Wednesday October 1 97
still want the wave file Ray?
and what did you think about getting the radio comm from BIG cobblers game put on as wave files as well (other soccer web sites do the same)
Six at 15:24:26 Wednesday October 1 97
I heard that IF (big if) Seal gets called up for national service (well to play for the aussies!) he will miss the Watford game and another!!! THATS BAD NEWS EH???
Andy at 13:37:41 Wednesday October 1 97
Thank God for this site - I've been living in Finland for two weeks now and this was the first time I heard about the Wigan and Millwall matches. Keep up the good work and I'll see you all in the First Division....
Ray at 10:22:0 Wednesday October 1 97
Cheers Six! (and I dunno)
Six at 10:8:55 Wednesday October 1 97
Ray >> I clicked the banner!!!!
BTW where is everyone??
Ray at 9:15:39 Wednesday October 1 97
The new banner above helps pay for this site. The more you click on it the more I get paid! Please get into the habit of clicking on the advert everytime you log on - THANKS!
The Insider at 8:14:1 Wednesday October 1 97
Let's not forget we had pitch invasions at six home games last season during play or at half time, by lone or small groups of supporters. Some could have had serious consequences; one of those incidents (Doncaster methinks) would have been avoided had the police on duty not been so busy filling their faces with pasties at the various refreshment bars. After the Cardiff game the Police also blamed Cobblers fans for vandalising cars in the main car park which was nothing more than a pathetic excuse for them not doing their job properly.
