This
is the only 'Grade 1' listed building in Orsett. The main doorway
dates back to 1160. The church has since been repeatedly extended
over the centuries. It is unusual having both a 15th century tower
and a 17th century spire. The badly eroded sandstone cross in
the graveyard was erected by the Whitmore family. An elaborate
tomb is also erected here for Captain Bonham - a slave trader
and the original owner of Orsett House.
