High Road - built in 1776 - was originally Anson's school. A former
pupil, William Archer built the house next door 'The Limes' in
1820. The present tall square building replaced his first poorly
designed 'Archers Folly' which had to be demolished and rebuilt.
It too became part of the school in 1858.
