OULD were proud to
field a full slate of candidates in the elections for OUSU delegates
this year, as well as three undergraduate executive officers.
Standing as "Lib Dems for Students", we enjoyed significant success as a
party as well as for the personal appeal of the candidates, the votes
cast clearly reflecting Oxford Students recognition that the Lib Dems
are indeed the "Number 1 Choice for Students" as the recent "FACE" poll
made clear.
We are the only party that can credibly claim to stand up for the
following, because it is at the heart of our national policy:
Equal opportunities for all, and respect for diversity, and appropriate
measures to advance under-represented groups
Reintroducing fairer funding for the higher education sector as a whole
- restoring a living student grant, abolishing tuition fees and
vehemently opposing top-up fees and commercial interest rates on student
loans
but also ensuring that universities have sufficient funds to continue to
deliver the highest quality academic services possible (increased
library opening hours, and retaining the tutorial system)
We believe that this is intrinsically linked to widening access to
Oxford for all who can best benefit from study here.
Linsey Cole,
Louise Radnofsky and
Daniel Rees were all
elected as Executive Officers. They are now responsible between them for
the major portfolios of:
Target
Schools,
Disabilities Action,
Women's Campaign,
Queer Rights,
Equal
Opportunities,
Finance and Funding and One World. Please feel free to contact them
if you have any concerns.
The following people are your Lib Dem OUSU delegates and are also
accountable to YOU - so let them know how you feel about with any
concerns any issue which OUSU deals with:
Steve Harper,
Naomi Pendle, Tom
Lubbock, Mark Wardrop, Sam Mooring.
Finally, OUSU elections take place every Michaelmas Term. If you're
interested in being a Lib Dem candidate next year, please get in touch!
