Interests

I enjoy wine, writing, travel, reading and building web-sites. I am interested in pre-history and visiting megalithic sites. I love sitting on a hot sandy beach drinking green coconut. I enjoy getting on a plane to a new destination. I made 52 flights in 1997 (33 in 1996), so it is just as well. Music is important, especially Bruckner, Beethovens Symphonies 7 and 9 and most of Michael Nyman's compositions. Rock music - I have been following the Stranglers for over twenty years. Pulp, Blur, and Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds are new favourites. Old timers include the Doors and Love.

I enjoy seeing new places. I have been very lucky in being able to travel, both on business and privately. Recently I travelled to these countries

I am a member (and retired chairman) of the Verulam Wine Tasting Club which meets regulary in St. Albans to taste wine under the guidance of a guest speaker, and a member of The Central London Wine Society which meets several times a month in central London. I run the Pinotage Club, and I maintain a cellar of fine wines and I travel to wineries. But mostly I just drink and enjoy wine.

I enjoy writing and have had several articles published. I was a winner in The Sunday Times Travel Writing competition and have had several travel articles published in magazines. My technical articles have been printed in the Info/Man magazine, The Structured Word. I write a column for the New Zealand wine web site www.wineoftheweek.co.nz and wine news for the South Africa wine site www.wine.co.za.

My book Marilyn Merlot and the Naked Grape about unusual amusing wine labels can be bought from your local bookshop or online from Amazon.
