Club Rules

Speed Swimming Rules

1. Every candidate for membership shall swim 3 lengths of 3 different strokes in a satisfactory manner before being accepted as a full Club Member, the Club coaches determining whether or not the candidate can execute these strokes satisfactorily.

2. The Executive Committee shall be empowered to expel and suspend any members, or supercede any officers of the Club for any breach of the Rules, orders of the Committee or for any objectionable conduct or any other adequete reason.

3. Any Club Member being absent for one month's consecutive Club nights and offering no feasable excuse, may lose his/her place to a person whose name appears next on the waiting list.

4. Whilst doing everything in their power to ensure the safety and comfort and the convenience of Members, the Executive Committee accept no responsibility for any accident, loss or injury to the said Members.

5. Any Member having a grievance or suggestion is requested to bring it to the notice of the Secretary or Chairman or other Committee Members immediately.

6. The Selection Committee for the swimming team/s shall consist of the Club Coaches, Gala Secretary and the Club Captains.

7. To be eligible to compete in Club Championships you have to be a fully paid member of the club prior to July 31st.

General Rules

1. The Club shall be called 'Pocklington Dolphins A.S.C.'

2. The object of the Club shall be:
(a) To promote competitive swimming.
(b) To promote stamina and fitness.
(c) To promote life saving.

3. The monthly subscription shall be due on the first Monday of each month. New members will pay their subscription four weeks after their joining date. (The committee are empowered to increase subscriptions as necessary.)

4. No member shall be entitled to participate in any of the competitions and privileges of the Club until all his/her subscriptions and liabilities are fully paid.

5. The affairs of the Club shall be administered by a Committee comprising of a Chairman, Secretary, Treasurer, Minutes Secretary, Gala Secretary, Press Secretary and a committee of eight shall administer the affairs of the Club. Ten members shall form a quorum.

6. Each committee member is entitled to one vote, with the Chairman having a casting vote if required.

7. Nominations for all positions are to be received by the Secretary three days previous to the AGM, extra nominations may be made at the AGM if insufficient are received.

8. The committe may replace a member who leaves the committe during the year.

9. The AGM will be called each January.

10. A Special General Meeting of the Club may be called at the discretion of the Secretary/Chairman, or on the receipt of a requisition signed by not less than 15 members.

11. The Chairman will convene all meetings.

12. A meeting of the Executive Committee shall be held every other month, or at the Committee's discretion. In the event of member being absent from three consecutive Committee Meetings, the Executive may declare his/her position vacant and shall be empowered to fill any vacancy so occuring.

13. The Treasurer shall furnish the Executive Committee with a statement of the accounts at each Executive Meeting and all bills owing shall be passed for payment by the Executive Committee and cheques signed by any two of the Treasurer, Secretary or Chairman.
