Pock Dolphins 1st Win of the Year!!

The first gala of 2008 saw Dolphins travel to Edlington to take on the home team, South Hunsley and Rossington. Everyone swam well with numerous club records achieved by Jake Meggitt, Andy Redmore, Thomas Stubley, Peter Smith, Willow Greenwood, Natalie McIver, Rachel Curnow, Charlotte Palmer, Molly Britton and Megan Burrow.

Dolphins were out again last Saturday, this time at New Earswick, where everyone swam their hearts out to beat the hosts, South Holderness and Ryedale.

The boys 13 years team of Peter Bryant, Andy Redmore, Luke Huffington and Jack Bowes won the first race. They were followed by the 9 years girl's team of Courtney Hanson, Amelia Warren, Megan Burrow and Mollie Britton. The boys open team of Jake Galley, Michael Quinn, Andrew Pearce, and Michael Smith completed the relay wins.

The trend continued with individual wins from Luke Huffington (butterfly), Katie Quinn (freestyle) and Max Galley and Adam Falkingham (breaststroke).

At half time Dolphins were leading by just one point, but the team knew they had their work cut out. Four wins in succession came from all four breaststroke relay teams. First were the 11 year boy's team of Ryan Rudd, Jake Eade, Andy Redmore, Peter Smith, Daniel Smith and Adam Falkingham, followed by the 11 year old girl's team of Charlotte Palmer, Chloe Huffington, Lucy Eade, Emma Savage, Megan Burrows and Courtney Moyler. Those in the open teams were, Andrew Pearce, Jake Galley, Philip Kendra and Michael Quinn and girl's team were Demi Lidster, Julia Laws, Gemma Burrows and Amelia Howat.

The youngsters continued to lead the way with more individual wins from Emily Kendra (backstroke), Ryan Rudd (breaststroke), Molly Britton (freestyle), Andrew Pearce, Julia Laws, Andy Redmore and Charlotte Palmer (butterfly).

There was anticipation as the gala reached the freestyle relays. No need to worry as the 13 year boy's team of Peter Bryant, Luke Huffington , Max Galley and Jack Bowes finished in first place. The boy's open team made it a double by finishing in first place. The final win of the evening came from the girls open team of Demi Lidster, Julia Laws, Amelia Howat and Katie Quinn.

The final points were as follows: Pocklington 131 pts, New Earswick 122 pts, South Holderness 110 pts and Ryedale 93 pts.
