Dolphins Triumphant

Pocklington Dolphins have a had a busy few weeks travelling to compete in gala's in Thirsk, Malton and Pickering.

Last Saturday the Dolphins were at home in the Ridings League gala against Ryedale, Whitby and Kingfishers B teams.

The evening started well with a win from the 12 years and under boy's medley relay team, consisting of, Andy Redmore, Gavin Thomson, Ryan Rudd and Peter Smith.

The first individual wins came in both boys and girls 12 years and under breaststroke event from Ryan Rudd and Charlotte Palmer. The trend continued with wins from Miriam Beales and Chris Chadwick (backstroke), Adam Falkingham (breaststroke) and Phillip Kendra (freestyle).

At half time Dolphins were leading, but the team knew they still had a lot of work to do. The next win came from Andy Redmore in the 12 years and under backstroke with Heather Curnow completing a double in the 12 years and under backstroke and freestyle. More individual wins came from Andrew Pearce and Julia Laws in the open butterfly to complete the individual races.

There was anticipation as the gala reached the freestyle relay stage. No need to worry the boy's 10 years and under team of Huw Jones, Jake Eade, Ben Potter and Adam Falkingham finished in first place. The boy's open team of Andrew Pearce, Stuart Pearce, Jake Galley and Phillip Kendra completed the wins of the evening.

Other members of the squad swam well against tough opposition earning a respectable 38 PBs. The final scores of the evening were Pocklington 137 pts, Ryedale 134 pts, Whitby 109 pts and Kingfishers B 94 pts.

There is no rest for the squad, this weekend they will be travelling to Axholme (Gainsborough) to compete in the Pocklington Times League.
