Francis Scaife Temporary Pool Closure
Dear Parent / Swimmer.
You may or may not be aware that the Francis Scaife swimming pool is to close to accommodate the refurbishment of the changing rooms and extension of the Gym area. Unfortunately the air conditioning unit for the pool is rather old and tired so it seems like the opportune time to renew this which means closure of the pool itself.
The pool is set to close on the 15th June for at the latest estimate 6 months. I will be pushing to get this done in minimum time but cannot push things on till the works commence.
We have managed to get some time for swimming at the Grammar School for the months of July and August but this will not begin until Monday the 7th July. During July and August the sessions for Speed Swimming will be as follows.
Monday
8.00pm - 8.45pm (Purple, Light Blue, Navy Blue and Black)
8.45pm - 9.30pm (Senior Squad)
Tuesday
7:00pm - 7:45pm (Orange, Green, Yellow and Red)
7:45pm - 8:30pm (Purple, Light Blue, Navy Blue and Black)
Thursday
8.00pm - 9.30pm (Navy Blue, Black and Senior Squad)
Friday
7.00pm - 7.45pm (Orange, Green, Yellow and Red)
7.45pm - 8.30pm (Purple, Light Blue, Navy Blue and Black)
8:30pm - 9:30pm (Senior Squad)
All the above sessions are at Pocklington School pool. We will be able to have our Tuesday night sessions on the 17th, 24th June and 1st July as normal. I am looking at the possibility of some weekend sessions but nothing has been finalised yet. Depending on how long the pool is closed then it may be possible to have our Club Championships later in the year at Driffield.
At this moment in time we have decided to leave the subscriptions as they are and will review them when we are more aware of the length of closure. Unfortunately we have decided to cancel Life Saving sessions until further notice.
If you have any queries please ask myself or any other committee member and we will try to answer where possible.
This situation crops up from time to time and it is up to you the swimmers especially to continue to attend sessions where possible and ensure that Pocklington Dolphins ASC continues to be a well respected organisation. We can get through this unfortunate closure at a time when we are really progressing in many ways providing we all continue to strive for success.
Please look at the Website and we will also try and keep you informed via the notice board at Francis Scaife and also E-mail and Newsletter of any changes.
Yours Swimmingly
Alan Kendra
