i once held a bird.
the most wonderful bird in the world.
i held it in my hand and it sang so sweetly just for me.
but now that bird is gone.
and all i have left are memories of its song.

Ever noticed how the first 15 seconds of "frozen" by Madonna are identical to the first 15 seconds of "aint no sunshine" by the lighthouse familly?

Took a trip to the Ace's Cafe last tuesday with my Uncle and his friends. My Uncle's built himself an AC Cobra (all original parts mind, not replica) and basicly just wanted to show it off on classic car night. We must have roled up at 8.30 but the place was allready packed. Even with a 1978 Cobra the only place we could park was on the pavement.... across the street. But, as it was inbetween an AC Ace and a Triumph Stag, it was in good company.
There were all manner of classic cars there, from early ferraris and jags to astin martins and austin healys. Even a formula one car, the actual green jag XK8 from die another day (with fake gatling gun attached) and a 1969 Dodge Charger made appearances.
as just about every weekday of the month caters to a diferent taste, with classic car nite, american hotrod night, classic bike night, yamaha night etc, there'll always be something to suit every petrol head. pics.

SAT 13/09/2003

Just got back off holiday down on the south coast and all in all I gotta say I enjoyed myself.
Highlights were, The Aquarium (seein the sharks and stingrays is always good), The Bournemouth Eye (basicly a big tethered helium ballon that ascends up to 500feet over the coast), Witherspoons pub (prob spent more in there over the 3 days than on anything else) and seein "Ghosts of the Abyss 3d" at the IMAX theatre (and im not ashamed to admit i cried like a baby at parts of it, the Titanic will always be very emotional thing for me).
Big fat bummers on the trip, Havin a slight stomach bug and not being able to eat more than rabbit food (god i really wanted a steak) and becoming single again after 15 months of dating (yes, again. It seems I do not have much luck in the long term relationship stakes)

TUE 09/09/2003 roughly 4am

OMG, i have just had a really weird experience. i stopped thinking. i cant remember when i last did that. for a few moments there was absolutly nothing goin on in my head. i didnt have the 4 layers of subconcious thoughts i usually have goin on. there wasn't the 2 or 3 old songs or old sounds im usually listening to in my mind goin on. i wasnt replaying any visual images in my minds eye at all. also i wasnt taking in any new information thru my eyes or ears at all. they were there, i just wasnt paying any attenion to them. it was like total internal silence. a big pile of nothing.

and it gave me a head ache.

bummer

I wonder, is this what buddists mean by spiritual enlightenment thru meditation? i hope not, it sucks. ;-(

SUN 07/09/2003

OK, so I'm only only updating about once every 6 months. But that's ok cos no one's ever readin this anyway.

So what's been happening? Well i got made redundent from my job in the city. So now i work as a Groundsman for a race track. and know what? It's a step up in my book. I travel 3 1/2 hours less a day, get paid more, specially with overtime and bank holidays, have a major tan, don't have to wear a shirt (at all if i feel like goin topless) and get to drive a tractor. kewl.

One thing about workin outside is that i've become even more fascinated by sunsets than I was before. I mean I was always fascinated by 'em but now I'm absolutly mesmorised. check 'em out for yaself.

I'm currently tryin to rebuild an old motor bike. and i mean old. It's a 1981 Yamaha RD250LC and its a bitch to get parts for. Rescued it from Budge who was about to go at it with an anglegrinder and turn it into a dirt bike. Yikes.

Theres been a few changes on the PC front as well. actually i dont even have the old pcs (nostromo, sulaco and auriga) any more. Now i have a Dual Piii 550mhz called 'Pandora' (cos every time i open the box something awful happens) and a 1.9ghz athlon called 'lilith' (who was the first woman before Eve for those of you in the know) pic.

I got made FTP admin for www.fragland.com which basicly means i keep an eye on the net to see when new demos and patches are released that the rest of my fellow fragLANders may be interested in and then pimp them up to our own FTP webserver. Of course I have to check them for quality purposes first, its a tough job, but someone's gotta do it ;-)

As you may be able to see, bein made redundent was really a blessing in disguise. It's meant i can get heavily into my hobbies which to be honest were being heavily neglected. before. Another of my pastimes that I've got back into heavily is Anime and Manga. Theres been a lot of really good series start over the last year or so that i just didnt have time for before. I even managed to catch the London showing of 'Cowboy Bebop: knocking on heavens door' when it was released this summer. The missus wasnt best impressed but I really enjoyed it. ;-) I've even taken up learning the Japanese language. I figured I spend a lot of my time at work wearing a walkman out and about on my own so why not put the time to good use. of course I look a bit silly standing out on the track all day talking to myself in a language that no one else at work can understand but hey, what do I care.

There's been plenty of gig action this summer. Saw Marylin Manson at Brixton, Live at Shepards Bush, White Stripes at Brixton, Marylin Manson at Rouge for his album launch, System, Metallica, Good Charlotte and Sum 41 (as well as many others) at Reading. off to see Mister David Bowie at wembley soon and Madness at Wembley yet again. Think I've seen Madness live more than any other band. 'cept maybe the Foo Fighters... or maybe Marylin. OK, scrub that.

Personal appearence has had a bit of a change about this year too. Like I was at college, I think I've had just about every hair colour goin this year. Again, who said redundency wasnt fun. ;-)

Anyhoo, see you in about 6 months then

If u liked the matrix and are looking forward to the next one much like Professor Pavlov's dog waiting for the next dinner bell then I'd suggest a visit to www.intothematrix.com

Available there for download are 2 (soon to be 4) anime style animated shorts depicting some of the back story to the matrix universe, the creation of A.I, the uprising of the machines and so on.

I've just finished watchin the first and i've gotta say I'm somewhat blown away by the sheer quality of work here. I'd say it's on a par with some of the high budget commercial animation coming out of japan at the moment. And seein as its free to download you can't really turn ya nose up at that.

apparently there will be 9 lots of shorts by june of approx 10 minutes each, so thats roughly a whole movie's worth of footage. At about 150mb each for the largest resolution down to 30mb for the smallest you really need broadband for this, or else download it at work when everyone else has gone home for the night. ;-)

TUE 11/02/2003

so i havent updated in a while (and i mean a while) and guess what, i aint really gunna start again now either. to be honest i havent really got time (or that interesting a life) for daily updates. heres a bit of a run down of whats been goin on.

new hairstyle; i'm now a blond, well a yellow really. was told at work i had to keep my hair gelled back and tidy... so i did as i was told. wasn't told i couldnt go bright yellow though, they should have been more specific really. link to piccy maybe? yeah, why not

THUR 24TH APRIL 2002

A good book can make you laugh out loud, it can also make you cry inside.
It can take you from the highest mountain whilst being curled up in your own bed.
A good author can write great tales, but a great author invites you to finish them of with your own imagination.
They're not there to tell you how it is, just point you in the right direction.

*******************************************************
I did not write this, I found it on a webpage called www.shite.org (don't ask!) I typed in sofabed+limited space in google and this is what I got.......

There's a world that's like no other
Up my arse.
There's a big black hairy mother
Up my arse.
There's a privet and a thicket,
There's a dozen games of cricket,
There's a sofa, there's a dwarf,
There's a river, there's a wharf,
There's a bucket full of pike,
There's a vicar on a bike.
I think that you would like
It up my arse.

There's a badly wounded pigeon
Up my arse.
There's an oven and a fridge on
Up my arse.
There's a robust village squire
And a roaring fake log fire
And a pair of turtle doves,
Oh, I know that you would love
It up my arse.

There's a tiny Burmese pony
Up my arse.
There's a granny who's quite bony
Up my arse.
There's a haddock with a hat on,
A soldier with a baton,
A fish that's lost its key,
You really should come see
What's up my arse.

There's a roundabout with horses
Up my arse
There's a wealth of different sauces
Up my arse.
There's a ferret in a pickle,
Mr. Small and Mr.Tickle,
A rabbit and a gnome,
Oh, it really feels at home
Here up my arse

SUN 21ST APRIL 2002

FRI 12TH APRIL 2002

Guys, if you've got no fashion sense (like me) then its okay to ask a woman to help you. just make sure its one that
a) is the same age as you
b) you aren't related to
c) you haven't slept with

MON 8TH APRIL 2002

SUN 31ST MARCH 2002

loads has happened an iv been way too busy to update so heres teh beef, i reverse chronological order.

i was away last weekend for the second of 2002's excellent fragland lan sesh's. as usual i a) had a great time, b) got beaten, a lot, and c) got sod all sleep. the games were excellent, the network performed beutifully and dwarf once again pulled off a triumph. top job that man.

a friend of mines been in hospital for a bit of surgery and is recuperating nicley. what a little trooper she is. lookin good girl.:-)

had i mentioned ive got a new flatmate since gem moved on. everyone say hi to jay. keep an eye out for him on the net, he's a UT and Q3 nut and goes by the name of "messiah". i'm gonna try and intrioduce him to the joy of fragland but its early days young grasshopper.

still working up town at roofgardens. its one hell of a nice place to work, instead of walkin outa my office and into a concrete jungle i spend my day surrounded by trees, streams and ducks.. strangly quiet ducks come to think of it but they're definatly ducks.

the sites and a bit of an update, nothing major, just removed a lot of the crap, replaced the gifs and logos, updated the links, jokes, etc etc. i'm gonna get rid of the inline frame soon cos it still dont work right with linux. (mind you, neither do i so thats about right)

i've given up on my 4th pc, mithril, cos i just wasnt getting anywhere with linux and to be honest it was getting under my feet most of the time. i think i'll leave the linux guru'in to the gurus. speakin of which my local guru has a new site. www.budge.net. also on the new site wagon is davro with flashsensei.com.
