This is the grotto of  Saint Bernadette and Our Lady. Legend has it that  Our Lady rescued a yong boy from drowning in the river. The statue of Saint Bernadette was placed there by the first parish priest as the  terrain reminded him of that of  Lourdes.

This is the first stone that was ever laid whilst building the Catholic Church in Abercynon. Abive the stone is a statue of St. Joseph

This photo shows that there are two alters at the back of trhe church as well as one at the front. The priest was unsure as to why this was, he said that they were only used for candles and flowers today
