UK.UFO.NW -IRC- guest spot! =========================== This is a cleaned up log, of the United Kingdom UFO Network Saturday 11th April 1998 IRC meeting on #UFO with guest Kevin Randle. Kevin kindly gave up a couple of hours of his spare time to answer some questions for the visitors to the channel. Below you will find a list of questions that Kevin was asked along with his replies. The name in between the <>'s e.g. is the nick name of the IRC user asking the question and where you see is of course the start of Kevin's reply. CREDITS: We would like to thank Dave_UFO for arranging this meeting with Kevin Randle. We would like to thank Kevin Randle for attending this meeting and answering the questions put to him. We would like to thank all the people involved in asking questions. We would like to thank everyone who attended this meeting. This meeting was moderated by Crow and Raine. Session Start: Sat Apr 11 22:58:38 1998*** Now talking in #ufo Hi Kevin. Chris Rutkowski here. I owe you a drink. :) Hi Chris. I think you do, but I don't know how to collect it. *** K9 sets mode: +m Hello everyone and welcome. I would first like to welcome Kevin to IRC and thank him for joining us on channel #ufo. Please remember if you have any questions for Kevin /msg crow or me with them and NOT Kevin, /join #ufo2 for unmoderated chat. Here is a brief introduction: Kevin D. Randle is a professional writer who, for more than twenty years, has been studying the UFO phenomenon. Training by the Army as a helicopter pilot, and by the Air Force as an intelligence officer, provides Randle with a unique insight into the operations of the military, their investigations of UFOs, and into a phenomenon that has puzzled people since the Kenneth Arnold UFO sighting in June 1947. During his investigations, Randle has travelled the United States to interview hundreds of witnesses who were involved in everything from the famous Roswell, New Mexico UFO crash of 1947, to the repeated radar sightings of UFOs over Washington, D.C. in 1952, to the latest of the abduction cases. Randle was among the first journalists to have the opportunity to review the files of the Air Force's UFO study, Project Blue Book when they were declassified in 1976. As a writer, Randle has produced more than 80 books on a variety of topics. Is there anything you would like to add Kevin or are you ready for the first question? I give you Kevin Randle .... Just that I have been working to complete my dissertation for a doctorate in psychology and have been working to complete a couple of new books. KR Within the last few years the 509th had their 50th anniversary. A representative of yours attended to see if any of the group (now getting on in years) would come forward with any information. At that time no one did. Has this changed since then? Everyone who was on Col. Blanchard's staff in 1947 has suggested that a UFO was responsible for the debris. We must remember that the 509th existed long past that event. But yes, there are others suggesting something unusual. KR Hi and welcome to #ufo Kevin. I've spoken to Stanton on a number of occasions and he's suggested that a number of the "stories" of crashes are just that, stories, because Leonard H Stringfield never properly investigated these cases, would you agree? Len Stringfield was collecting data and then providing it to the rest of us. His service was extremely important. But, knowing that he was not investigating each sighting, we have to do that. I believe that the vast majority of UFO crash stories are just that. Stories. We have to check each one carefully. KR Kevin, I have heard so many variations as to the shape of the Roswell craft found at the second crash site. Some seem to be saying it was a saucer shape others say it was like a triangular (stealth) type craft, what conclusions have you come to if any on the crafts shape? The best information is that the craft was triangular shaped. This is based on the credible eyewitness testimony. KR "It is said that the Roswell story has changed over the years that the "alien" part of the story did not begin until the 70s. So how do we know the Roswell story is true? Actually, we have mentions of alien bodies long before 1970. I believe the Roswell story to be true based on the eyewitness testimony of very credible people such as Major Edwin Easley, the 509th Provost Marshal in 1947. KR Kevin, out of all the crashes that you have investigated, which would you say is the most comparable to Roswell? Oh, a hard one. I would say that the best evidence would be for the 1962 Las Vegas, Nevada crash. I find Kingman, Arizona in 1953 to be intriguing, but it doesn't have the number of witnesses as the other two. KR Out of all the Roswell witnesses you have interviewed who strikes you as the most important and why? I believe that Edwin Easley is very important because of who he was in 1947. He told me that the craft was of extraterrestrial origin. I find Patrick Saunders, the adjutant, who wrote on the flyleaf to one of my books that it was the truth, to be very important. He had nothing to gain and I learned of his notes after his death. No spotlight motivation. I find Frank Kaufmann to be credible because, to this point no one has demonstrated that he has lied about anything. There are those who don't like his testimony because of what it does to their personal beliefs and agendas, but the fact is, he hasn't been caught lying. There are a number of other lesser players who tell interesting stories. KR Kevin, where does the Roswell investigation go from here? I think we have about mined that field. We might find additional witnesses, but who is going to care? The skeptics are going to say their lying. The debunkers are going to ignore them. And the UFO researchers are going to try to pick apart the story if it doesn't conform to their beliefs. We're going to have to look for physical evidence and documentation. KR <^Darren> Hi Kevin. In connection with your research into Roswell, do you think aircraft such as NASA's Hyper X is using technology as in shape and aerodynamics which has been directly taken from the crashed craft? At this late date it's hard to imagine that. We have to remember that humans are very bright. Sometimes we don't need help to figure something out. KR Kevin, do you feel that if some other crash cases where investigated as thoroughly as Roswell we would have some real evidence or more answers? That's a very distinct possibility. Or maybe just some other cases. The Washington Nationals, the radar cases from 1952 might provide some answers. And the Bentwaters case from the UK looks very good as long as Larry Warren's nonsense is left out of it. KR Do you think that Richard Tungate has any more substantial Roswell information to reveal? If so, what is holding him back? I think a number of witnesses could provide additional information if the right questions were asked and the right people asked them. KR Hi again kevin, have you ever interviewed James Bond Johnson, the photographer who took the famous picture of Jessie Marcell in General Ramey's office with the weather balloon wreakage? As he will be a guest here on may 2nd and said he wanted to clear up some of the rumours before its too late for him to be able to do so. How much do you think he really knows? I was the first to interview him. His story, as related to me on audio tape, has substantially changed since he first told it. He'll tell you that I misquoted him, I forced my opinions on him, and that I'm wrong. Unfortunately for him, I have it all on tape. He has radically altered his story from those tapes. He denies he said things that you can clearly him him say. However, he was in Ramey's office, he did take the photographs of Ramey and Dubois, and he now claims he took the pictures of Marcel. Originally he said he took two pictures, then four and now six. KR Hey Kev thanks for coming, my question is back in March and April of '96 Billy Dolymere and I exchanged a few email messages, in one of them he defended saying you didnt say something, I don't remmeber what, but today I visited UFOMIND and it says he criticizes your work, what happened here? I have never met the man and as far as I know, never talked to him. He is a friend and supporter of Don Schmitt. He accepts everything that Schmitt said as true. KR Kevin...I'd like to ask the obvious... have you had any opposition from the Army, AirForce or other services, regarding your investigations ? Any help from them ? No opposition. In fact, while I was being investigated for my top secret clearance the man doing the work included a number of the magazine articles I had published criticising the Air Force. I still got the clearance. KR Is there currently any thought on where the Roswell wreckage might now be? I know that it, or some of it went, to Wright Field. I don't know if it is still there or moved. Everything beyond that is speculation. KR kevin have you ever been told that military will tell the people the truth one day? Simple answer is NO. KR Have you done research on the MJ-12 documents and do you think they are authentic? I have done a great deal of work on MJ-12. Although I originally believed them to be authentic I think the evidence is that they are faked. There is no provenance for them, the typeface didn't exist until years after the documents were supposedly written. There are many such problems. KR Kevin What about Pappy Henderson's widow.... I assume you find her credible also ? Yes. She is a very nice lady who is telling the truth as she knows it. Unfortunately she didn't see anything first hand. She is repeating what her husband told her. More importantly, we have no reason to doubt what he said either. KR Kevin would you rather be known as a UFO researcher or as a succesful Sci-Fi writer? Well, the term is actually science fiction or SF. I have done quite a bit of action fiction, techno-thrillers and the like. I think I would like to be known as a successful writer and a UFO researcher, a psychologist, helicopter pilot, former military officer, and a lot of other things that I have done. KR Is anyone in the U.S. Congress anywhere close to opening hearings/investigations into the UFO and hopefully the Roswell incident, also? I don't think we're very close to any sort of Congressional hearings at the moment. The Air Force, with their silly final reports, have convinced many that Roswell was nothing more than a balloon. KR Kevin, at last week's meeting Nick Redfern mentioned a crash in Britain in 1955 where the bodies of some "small men" were recovered. Do you know anything about this? I did a quick search of my database on crashes and didn't find anything. Short answer: NO. KR Kevin, have you looked into the Varginha incident? and if so, what conclusions have you drawn? I've just looked at the beginnings of it. To me, it seems to slide toward the poor end of the scale, but I would like to see more, corroborated data before I write it off completely. KR How would you have improved the GAO's investigation into the disposition of Roswell records? By having them search from the other end as well. They couldn't find the outgoing messages. Let's look for those who would have been receiving them such as 8th AF HQ and SAC. Let's talk to a few people. I had heard that the FBI office in Albuquerque had some records so I turned the information over to the GAO hoping they would do something, but they didn't. I would have looked a little harder. KR Who do you think is the least credible of the Roswell witnesses and why? Jim Ragsdale for changing his story. Gerald Anderson for inventing his and getting caught in his lies. Glenn Dennis for changing the name of the nurse once we had proved she didn't exist. KR Isn't Frank Kaufmann a genuine government whistleblower with bona fides? If this is true, why don't Time, Newsweek, NBC, CBS, New York Times, etc., jump on the Roswell incident story? Is it because it is about UFOs? Well, each of those agencies has done UFO stuff. CBS's 48 Hours interviewed him a couple of years ago. They didn't ridicule his story. However, the problem is that we are dealing with UFOs. No journalist who has spent 20 years building credibility is going to want to lose it in five minutes because of UFOs. KR We read about all sorts of things on the net. Some believable. Some not. What is your current relation & feeling's on Don Schmitt? I have no relation with Don Schmitt. He lied about his education. He lied about his employment. He lied about other UFO researchers attempting to discredit them. And he continues to lie today. Blunt but true. KR Kevin, You mentioned the '52 Wash. D.C. events .. What can we learn from that today ? There was no crash - just radar & photos ?? Radar, photos, pilot intercepts, ground visual sightings, radar sightings, all sorts of data that could be gathered. And we can see the US government duplicity in their response to the case. KR Kevin, Do you think that the Bentwaters/Rendlesham forest affair is the UK equivalent of Roswell? No, but only because there wasn't a crash. There is some interesting evidence from that case. It's one that needs to be fully explored It has a place of its own in UFO history. KR Kevin I think Roswell was the first case most ufologists heard of... are there any more recent cases, in the last year or so, where the chance of documenting still exists ? There is the case in Arizona that might provide some of that. I don't mean to be so American-centric, if that's a word, but the stuff I hear is usually from American sources. KR I have heard that Pres. Carter asked for UFO info, and was denied, I find that hard to believe. Have you heard anythng like that? Carter was going to ask for the information. I can't conceive of a situation where the information could be denied to the President. He has the power to get rid of anyone and find someone who will talk. So no, I don't think he was refused. KR Kevin have you ever been intimidated or threatened with regards to the investigations you undertake? Do you know of anyone who has been forced by whatever means not to talk to you? I have never been threatened. A few people I know suggest they have been told not to talk, but I can't document that. KR How can we get a national forum to demonstrate to the American public and the establishment elites that the Air Force response to Roswell incident facts was simply ludicrous? I think the AF hurt itself with the "flying dummies" story. I think we can find all the proof we want and the attitude is going to be, this happened before I was born. Why should I care? That might be our problem. We're now dealing with history.KR What got you interested in UFO's in the first place? and did you drift into research or "deliberately" took it up? I always blame my mother. She had an interest in science fiction and it isn't a far step into the realm of the UFO. I took up UFO research because I wanted to learn the truth for myself. KR Kevin, Do you detect any effort to subvert the Roswell research, such as false wittnesses or such? I mean intentional subversion. *** KRandle has quit IRC (Read error to KRandle[202-154-186.ipt.aol.com]: Connection reset by peer_) oh dear uups... im sure he will be back :) he was doing great so far too #ufo2 open for unmoderated disscussion we will give him a few mins to redial he may well be back any sec *** KRandle (Crows_www@203-55-85.ipt.aol.com) has joined #ufo *** Raine sets mode: +o KRandle welcome back Kevin welcome back Kevin :) Hey folks. I was AOLed. That means they logged me off. re kev Kevin, Do you detect any effort to subvert the Roswell research, such as false wittnesses or such? I mean intentional subversion. Ah, that was the question. No. I see people jumping on the bandwagon for the spotlight or to make some money. The government attempts are their silly final reports. I mean, they did a final report and then did a second final report. KR Welcome Kevin. I wonder if you have any further information regarding the Shag Harbor incident. Chris Styles and Don Ledger have been doing a wonderful job with that. When someone asked earlier about good UFO crash cases, I should have put that at the top of the list. I know that they are continuing their work and have found some good documentation. KR What do you think Sheridan Cavitt's motivation is for not telling the truth about his experiences with Jesse Marcel in the Roswell incident? His government oath to keep the secret. I think that we have a lot of people who are honorable and who were told not to talk. They just don't because they said they wouldn't. KR Kevin ...whats the best piece of physical (if any) evidence from Roswell, or any case, youve seen ? That's a tough one. I think that some of the photo cases, when couple to other evidence makes a persuasive case. McMinnville, Oregon in 1950, for example. KR What role do you feel NASA plays in all of this? On the one hand they appear to be saying "yes" life does exist elsewhere possibly i.e. the Mars meteorite and lets not forget their willingness to rephotograph Cydonia, 'the face on Mars. I think NASA is trying to avoid the problems the AF faces with Project Blue Book. I think that NASA is working hard to keep their budget intact. And they do respond to public pressure as you noted. As for a role, I think the exploration of space will answer our questions if we don't get them answered down here. KR have you ever spoken with any astronauts in regards to the rumors of ufo sightings? No. I heard the same stories and seen them, in public forums acknowledge some of it. KR Kevin, you were a helicopter pilot. Do you think that the so-called (silent) black helicopters are advanced military, or some alien thing, or a combination of both? Nope. KR Kevin do you believe that alien technology/ufo's are kept at Area51? Nope. That is the simple answer. I think the next level of military technology is being developed there which is a good reason for the secrecy. We don't want our competitors in the world to know everything we're doing. KR Black Budgets. We know the U.S. government has a black budget. Has a black budget list ever been released or obtained? Some of the really old stuff has been learned. The Manhattan Project, for example. The problem is that they are black budgets... some what 30-40 Billion dollars a year. You can cause a lot of trouble with that kind of money. KR What is the best strategy to force the smoking gun UFO evidence out of our government/military Be scientific in our approach to the questions. Let go of the cases where the evidence is against us. Mantell, for example, was killed chasing a balloon. The evidence for that is overwhelming. Let's stop suggesting that a death ray got him. That harms us. KR Kevin, what is your take on the Mexico City video? Having just seen it myself for the first time along with some witness testimony, it looked compellingly real, if not a very excellent technical hoax. One of the segments I saw, with a flight of helicopters looked faked to me. You have an unknown object flash in front of your craft and there is no reaction, by any of the pilots. That bothered me. Someone should have reacted, unless the object was added to the video later. KR Some "abductees" report a mission they are to perform at some future time. Is this a common trait or perception? KRandle> Many abductees have made mention of that. Some of the contactees said the same thing. KR I work with a lot of people who are only too willing to point out to me newspaper & magazine articles etc. However I know some still smile unbelievingly. How have you approached people with your beliefs? I try to make sure that they understand that the physical evidence, in every form, that is demanded by science already exists. When Carl Sagan demand, "Where is the evidence?" My question to him would be tell me what you want and I'll tell you where it is.KR Kevin, would you care to venture an opinion as to the nature of the visitors? Ets ? Other-dimensional beings? Spirits? Time-travellers? I believe that some UFO sightings represent extraterrestrial visitation. KR Kevin how did you react when you heard the announcment of the Roswell crash dummies? LOL. Great deals of laughter. Hell, it wasn't even in the right time frame. KR Kevin, do you believe any part of what Bob Lazar says about his work at Area 51? Stanton Friedman says he is a fraud but Bob Oeshler says he is genuine! Boy, caught me in a bad one here. I have to side with Stan on this one. I talked to a man who worked with Lazar at Los Alamos. Said he was a technician and not a scientist. KR Kevin, I was referring to the saucer shaped craft which flew behind an apartment complex and then emerged. Back to Mexico. I guess I would have to take a long look at the Mexico. I was merely suggesting that some of the video needs to be reveiwed carefully. KR Do you know of any underground facility research besides that of Richard Sauder? We hear a lot of rumor about extensive underground facilities. Have you personally been in any (extensive) underground facilities in your military career? I was in a missile silo once. I was in Carlsbad Caverns twice. Yes, there are underground facilities, but I doubt that any of them have an extraterrestrial influence. KR Kevin what are your personal thoughts on Alien abductions do you believe its happening or it is something else? There is no doubt that the people reporting abductions are experiencing something that is real to them. But we must remember that we do not have the proper corroborative detail. I believe that we will find an answer that has a mundane force behind it. KR Kevin, whats your "favourite" case? Well, would you believe "Roswell?" Other good cases include the photographic part of the Lubbock Lights, Levelland, TX in 1957, the Montanta Movie of 1950. Gees, I'm stuck in the deep past... Oh, Lonnie Zamora in 1964. Bentwaters. The Belgium sightings. KR Kevin, do you know of any alien abduction cases that have involved mutilation? I was going to just say, "No." but I have heard of a couple through various other researchers. I don't find the evidence for them to be very persuasive thought.KR Kev: do you have a messagebourd of some type somewere were we can post questions or comments to you? Yes. Look at http://www.crystalsky.com KR Could you ask Kevin what he knows of UFO rods and what he thinks of them? Not much. KR what do you thinks of the sts-52 unknown objects. I haven't looked at that very closely. I did some work on STS-48 which was very interesting. Jack Kasher shared a look of his information with me on that. KR I am unfamiliar with the "Montana movie", are you aware of any government team sent to Malmstrom AFB to study UFO's? The Montana Movie was taken over Great Falls,`Montana in 1950. Shows two bright objects. The Air Force thought they might be airplanes landing at Great Falls AFB which was renamed Malmstrom. KR Kevin, it seems the majority of ufo sightings happen in USA, is there something special about usa, as apart from the rest of the world? Nope. I just think we might have a better reporting system. Lots of good stuff in South America and Europe. KR Without any cursing, whats your opinion of Richard Boylan, if any? People, I don't mean to be rude, but I'm going to have to bow out shortly. KR No problem Kevin just a couple of questions left if that is ok with you? Boylan lost his license to practice and rightly so. He was imprinting his own opinoins and beliefs on his clients. KR. Let's do it. KR crow, question for Kevin, what does he think of the Dogon tribe re: Sirius being binary star ok no more questions now folks I haven't taken a solid look at it. I find things like that interesting but haven't had a chance to do any real research. KR How does a military/government employee know that a given *event* is considered classified (as opposed to a document, which is marked or only shown in a classified environment)? How do government employees know they shouldn't discuss a UFO event? Does an officer always proactively tell them? If you are not directly involved in classified programs but are exposed to them, you are told that it is classified. So, if you see a UFO and the government doesn't want you to talk, they tell you. KR MIB was of course a fictional movie, but i have heard of similar govt agents working on undercover cover ups (not FBI) is this true? I think MIB was a wonderful movie. Do I think there is a real MIB phenomenon? Nope. KR FYI, there was a team there studying them about 1976 when I was there, but they were very stand-offish, not surprisingly. This is the last one I've run into some people looking into it but never seen any good evidence. KR Thank you Kevin for a very interesting and informative evening, it was a great pleasure meeting you. We appreciate the time and effort you have put in tonight, please feel free to pop in again sometime. Good luck with all you do. Thank you very much for taking the time to be with us tonight Kevin it is GREATLY appreciated by all. Can I just say a very big thank you to you Kevin, from all of us in #ufo. [UK 2]****** Source: Daily Mail newspaper (UK) Publish Date: Monday 27th April 1998 RAF track mystery craft over north sea - and fighters can't catch it 24,000mph UFO buzzes Britain By DAVID DERBYSHIRE Science Correspondent THE RAF has tracked a UFO `as big as a battleship' off the coast of Britain, military sources revealed yesterday. They said the massive craft was tracked flying in a zig-zag pattern at 17,000mph over the North Sea. It then accelerated to 24,000mph and zoomed off towards the Atlantic. The Dutch air force also tracked the UFO, but two F-16 fighters scrambled to intercept the object were unable to keep up, it is claimed. RAF officials are said to be baffled by the object, spotted by the Ministry of Defence long-range listening station on Fylingdales moor in North Yorkshire. `It was definitely under control, judging by the various manoeuvres executed,' said a source. `It appeared to be triangular and was around the size of a battleship (about 900ft long).' Radar records of the craft are due to be presented to science and military experts from around the world, who will examine how to exploit space for milltary purposes at a conference at RAF College, Cranwell, Lincolnshire, in June. Other tapes of the UFO - thought to have been made during the last two years are being withheld because they give too to much information about the radar base's scanning ability. However, military chiefs may release a second series of tapes, reported to show 12 UFOs changing shape in mid-flight. While the `battleship' UFO is most likely to be an experimental aircraft or a sighting caused by a freak weather effect, UFO watchers believe it is further evidence that the Earth is being visited by alien craft. The popularity of TV series such as the X-Files has rekindled interest in flying saucers and conspiracy theories in recent years. A spokesman for the Fortean Times, the journal devoted to UFOs, psychic phenomena and the paranormal, said: `The vast majority of strange objects seen in the sky have a more down-to-earth explanation. But most UFO investigators would be very interested in seeing these tapes.' The latest theory gaining popularity among some dedicated UFO watchers is that the military deliberately release stories about UFOs as a 'smokescreen' - and that witnesses are really seeing top secret experimental aircraft. The base at RAF Fylingdales has been watching the skies since the end of the Cold War. A large pyramid shaped, 360 degree radar has now replaced the gigantic landmark 'golfballs' tracking system. The base has concentrated on tracking satellites and pieces of junk circling the Earth. But, unlike her famous mother, the creation of the cuddly little newcomer - born 11 days ago - was entirely natural. The father was a four year old Welsh mountain ram named David. Graham Bulfield, director of the Roslin Institute in Edinburgh, which cloned Dolly from a single breast cell of another sheep, said: "Despite Dolly's unusual origins, the birth of her lamb confirms that she is able to breed normally and produce healthy offspring." Dolly sparked an ethical and scientific furore when her existence was revealed last February. Some scientists questioned whether she is a true clone because her 'genetic' mother died before she was born and it has been impossible to prove the two animals were identical. Bonny faces no such controversy. Dolly is a Finn Dorset and father David a completely different breed. After mating last November, Dolly was regularly monitored and in the days leading up to the birth was placed under 24 hour surveillance. Bonnie was born at 4am on Easter Monday, weighing just under 7lb. Despite Dolly's clinical background, the institute said: "She has shown a strong maternal instinct and is an enthusiastic mother." Bonnie's healthy birth is expected to counter fears that Dolly may be prone to premature ageing and age related disorders as a result of being cloned from a six year old adult. The lambs arrival also provides an important boost to the commercialisation of the technique that produced Dolly. Dolly and Bonnie are currently spending much of their time indoors. For Bonnie, life will be longer than most of her kind - who end up on the dinner table. "As a celebrity sheep, we will be keeping her here for her natural life," said the institute. This has been reported in the local press recently, unfortunately all the papers have been thrown out so I'm going by memory! Northern Ireland under attack - by ET! On 13th December 1997 an explosion was heard near the town of Belleek in county Fermanagh Northern Ireland. The reports of the blast lead to the security forces doing a search for a suspected bomb and even closing off some roads but nothing was found. It wasn't until the next month that a farmer noticed a extra 6 foot wide circular pond in one of his fields. Calls were made to Armagh Planetarium and they turned up to investigate the site. The crater was drained but nothing was found except a badly damaged milk churn. Later investigations managed to find a 1.5 mm bead of glass, it is unknown if this was the source of the crater but it's all they've found so far. The site is very muddy and it is suspected that the real culprit may have sank down out of reach. It either was small and hit very fast or was large and hit relatively slowly. Planetarium officials noted that the object which landed had hit the ground had done so at almost 90 degrees and also pointed out that another rather larger object hit Greenland on the same night. This object was so big in fact that a scar was visible in satellite photos. Had the Greenland object hit in Northern Ireland it would have leveled the nearby town of Belleek. My brother and his girlfriend live on the NE coast of England near Ashington in Northumberland and it was about 5.25pm on the 4, 5 or 6 of November when after hearing the noise of a jet he looked out of his sons bedroom window towards the NW when he saw a group of lights moving South. Then suddenly from behind came a smaller group of lights which flew past the first group turning sharply Eastwards towards his home. Then from over the wood in front of my brothers house came what he described as being a disco of different rectangular shaped coloured lights of which were green, blue, purple, yellow, red and white. He noticed that the lights seemed to be stacked on top of each other in layers and that there were more red lights than the other colours. He called on his partner and they both watched as the object passed slowly and silently over their home which they then lost sight of. They went outside to look but all they could see was a small cluster of lights in the distance which then disappeared. If you have any reports of this sighting or would like more infomation on this or the other sightings they saw over these two months email me on the address below and I can put you in contact with them. uk.ufo.nw says: After requesting further information Damian was good enough to send us the below report. With regards to my brothers sightings, these earlier ones occurred over a period of a month up to the night of the one I wrote about earlier. There was one evening when it was dark while he cycled home from a friends House. He saw an object hovering which he first thought was a helicopter but had no sound. He noticed that the object had a red, yellow and blue glow to it. He kept on walking and then lost sight of the object through the gaps of the houses which overlook the woods. When the object was seen again about 12 seconds later it had travelled fast as it seemed much closer than before. He noticed it had two bright white bar lights and a flashing red light on top. There was no noise which you would expect if it were a helicopter. He lost sight of it again because of the houses so he peddled a further 100yrds to the end of the street and saw the object again but it was slightly higher in altitude and a little more distant than before. It then changed direction by moving sharply upwards at an angle he described as being about 80 degrees. When he got home he got out his binoculars and observed the object with his partner who he called from the bathroom to view the object too. The object by then looked different as there were seven lights, one being a white bar light which did not flash, the other a red flashing light as seen before and the others being orange in colour, which flashed in sequence. He went to the park to observe the object out of the glare of the street lights and noticed that it would travel at high altitude from West to East before moving out of sight but sometimes crossing the same point of the sky. All through October he witnessed lights in the sky which were red, green and white (I am not sure at this time whether these lights were seen individually or on separate occasions or together) which moved about with flight paths that crossed the same parts of the sky regularly. One night in late October he heard the noise of a jet and when he looked out of the window he saw an object he described as being a jumbo jet without wings as it had bar lighting running along 2/3rds the body of the tube with a red flashing light at the rear. This object passed very low over the house. This was a different object to the one which I wrote to you a while back. Although I have copied from notes he has given me and put down in words that he has told me, there is a lot of patchy detail. I hope I have been helpful in giving you more information which may shred more light on identifying what was in the sky at that time. [UK 9]****** Source: Fortean e-zine "Phenomena On-Line" Date: March 1998 From: bernhard.nahrgang@ob.kamp.net (Bernhard Nahrgang) The Search Goes On Jodrell Bank, the world famous radio telescope in Cheshire is to be used to search for messages from other planets. Operated by the University of Manchester, the 250 foot Lovell Telescope will link up with the 1,000 foot telescope at Arecibo in Puerto Rico.+ Speaking on BBC Radio, Ian Morrison said, "It will be the most sensitive search undertaken by man to see if there is anybody out there trying to talk to us." In 1993 NASA stopped funding their own programme in the search for extraterrestrial intelligence, but did build a receiver capable of picking up 250 million signals simultaneously. "You don't know what frequency anyone might be transmitting to us so you have to search quite a broad band.", said Ian Morrison, "Now linking that receiver with the two most sensitive telescopes in the world makes a system that's really quite something and if anybody is going to pick up signals from out there I reckon we are going to do it." Having the two telescopes situated over 1,000 miles apart will mean that interference from local transmissions can be ruled out. The two sites will be linked via the Internet and as soon as one finds a signal it will alert the other. The frequency of the transmission will also be slightly different at the two sites and so noises from satellites above Earth and further out in the Solar System can be eliminated. Ian Morrison said, "I'm sure there is a lot of life out there. On our planet, life arose almost within years of the conditions becoming right - however it took a lot longer for more complicated life to evolve, about 3 billion years. We are beginning to discover other planets around other stars.... I'm sure that the Universe and the galaxy is teeming with life - now whether that life has got to the point where it could communicate or whether it would want to we don't know". Leading project scientist Seth Shostak said, "It is my personal view we will find clear evidence of extra terrestrial life in the next 10-15 years". World News ========== [W 1]****** Source: The Associated Press From: Bernhard Nahrgang Congressman Schiff Dies at 51 Steve Schiff, whose battle with skin cancer forced him to decide not to run for re-election this year, died today at age 51. The five-term New Mexico Republican, who had been fighting aggressive squamous-cell skin cancer for more than a year, died this morning at his Albuquerque home. Schiff had been absent from Washington, D.C., since last April but had been continuing to conduct 1st Congressional District from home. During his years in Congress, Schiff was credited with a compromise plan that allowed Speaker Newt Gingrich to resolve ethics allegations by paying a $300,000 penalty to reimburse the government for investigative costs. Once, when Schiff opposed a congressional pay raise, he donated the amount of the raise that year to charity. He also gained headlines in 1993, reopening a federal investigation into the so-called Roswell Incident in which extraterrestrial beings were purported to have crashed northwest of Roswell in 1947. Schiff asked the General Accounting Office, Congress' investigative arm, to seek Air Force documents relating to the incident. The Air Force said a secret high-tech spy balloon crashed, not an alien spacecraft. [W 2]****** From: Barry Amazed scientists discover space is full of vast oceans of water European scientists using an ultracold orbiting telescope have discovered unimaginable volumes of water in space between the stars. the discovery raises questions about life elsewhere in the universe - and provides new answers about why life was possible on Earth. The scientists were astounded to find water vapour in the freezing atmospheres of Jupiter, Neptune, Saturn and Uranus. They also revealed yesterday that they have discovered water in the atmosphere in of Saturn's mysterious moon - Titan - which is to be visited by a joint US/Euro probe in 2004. They have even identified a cloud of water, less than a light year across, in the constellation Orion. Hydrogen is the raw material of the universe. Oxygen is made in huge quantities by the stars. So water should be no suprise. There have been fleeting glimpses of water on the Sun's surface, and in March, American's confirmed the presence of water on the moon. But the discovery of vast oceans of water vapour - the mass of which in the Milky Way galaxy alone would equal tens of thousands of suns - by the European Space Agencies infrared space observatory ISO astonished astronomers. "I think our imaginations failed to describe the variety of places, the variety of circumstances, and the variety of conditions under which we found it ," said Paul Murdin of the British National Space Centre, yesterday. Using instruments called spectroscopes, scientists have identified and astonishing range of organic molecules, in space, including hydrogen cyanide, alcohol and formaldehyde. But water is the first requirement for life. The 600 million ISO equipment confirms once again that there could be life on planets in other solar systems. The next step will be to look for tell-tale signs of life itself: concentrations of oxygen or ozone in distant planetary atmospheres. The ISO discovery also confirms a growing belief that water on Earth may have been delivered by comets, icy scraps of dust left over from the birth of stars. The experiment opens up a new window on the universe. More than 1,000 astronomers from Europe, Japan and the US have used the telescope, launched in 1995, for more than 26, 000 observations. The data returned will keep astronomers busy for years. "All the missions we undertake in ESA have to be unique," said Roger Bonnet, head of science at the space agency. "In principle, the American's have done everything, so what remains to be done is impossible. All our missions are mission impossible, but ISO is more possible then any other." ISO should have survived for only 18 months but is still operating after 29. The telescope posed a huge technical challenge: to detect infra-red rays, it had to be cooler than any object it looked at - and the average temperature of deep space is -270oC. So ISO had to be cooled with liquid helium which kept the instruments temperature just above absolute zero (-273oC.) The satellite has peered into clouds of space dust to watch the formation of solar systems, and deep into the heart of ultra-luminous galaxies. It has also witnessed two galaxies colliding and, in one of them, the signature of a b;lack hole sucking a blaze of stardust into itself. Beside mapping the edge of the known universe, it has also seen a star being born inside the Horsehead nebula. According to old rumours, the object, refered as "the Lolladoff disc" has engraved drawings on it and belonged to the "Dzopa" a lost tibetan tribe which is said to be originated from "star people". I have a book in spanish which describes the object and mentions a british "Journal of Ethnology" (Oxford ?) as a solid academic reference for the discovery. I have contacted Oxford University but they never replied about Prof. Lolladoff or the disc (which is said to be kept in a bank safe). I would appreciate to hear your oppinion about this subject.
