"Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and
requests. With that in mind, be alert and always keep on praying
for all the saints." (Ephesians 6:18)
Prayer is as vital to Christian health and vitality as breathing is to
life. The Bible is full of encouragements to pray. We can believe in
it, preach on it, read about it, recommend it - and still not pray!
Wherever the Spirit of God is moving amongst His people, prayer is
happening. No move of God continues for very long without His
people praying.
So what are we going to do??????
Of course, I hope we all pray already as individual believers; I trust
that prayer is part of the life of various sections and groups in
church, but as well as that, I want us to make time to be Prayer
Partners.
What I mean by this is to agree with another member of the church
that you will meet regularly (once a week would be ideal) and pray!
You might get together and have a cup of tea or coffee and a chat
first, but don't spend all the time talking to each other - bring your
requests to God!
Pray for other church members, for the preaching, for our outreach
and witness, for more of God's Spirit, for the parish, for
neighbouring churches, for more people to become Christians, for
leaders in the community, church and nation... but pray!
Fill in one of the Prayer Partner cards and stick it on the wall
display to encourage us. God bless you,
Rev Philip J Rogers
