MUMMY PLAYING CARDS

TWO DECKS DIE-CUT IN THE SHAPE OF AN EGYPTIAN SARCOPHAGUS (C. 700-675B.C.) DECORATED WITH ANCIENT MOTIFS FROM THE EGYPTIAN ANTIQUITIES COLLECTION OF THE MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS, BOSTON.

"Ancient Egyptians believed that the preservation of the earthly human body was essential for attaining eternal life. These brilliantly decorated playing cards bear the top and bottom designs of an ancient sarcophagus in the museum - the inner coffin of Nes-mut-aat-neru. It is made of plastered linen over two wooden halves and painted with many gods and goddesses that protect the afterlife of this aristocratic lady."

Designed by Kyung Mi Ahn.

These cards truly are "Novelty Cards". Because they are cut in the shape of a sarcophagus (which the images try to show), they are almost impossible to shuffle and hold.
I purchased mine from The Museum Company, but they are still available from various sources on the Net.
